This paper uses the results of the characterization of amorphous semiconductor thin film transistors (TFTs) with the quasi-permanent memory structure referred to as silicon oxide nitride semiconductor (SONOS) gates, to model spiking neural circuits. SONOS gates were fabricated and characterized. In addition, MOSFETs using organic copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) were fabricated with these SONOS gates to demonstrate proof of concept performance. Analog spiking circuits were then modeled using these low performance TFTs to demonstrate the general suitability of organic TFTs in neural circuits. The basic circuit utilizes a standard comparator with charge and discharge circuits. A simple Hebbian learning circuit was added to charge and discharge the SONOS device. The use of these elements allows for the design and fabrication of high-density 3-dimensional circuits that can achieve the interconnect density of biological neural systems.  相似文献

The special LNA topologies resulting from loading a simple LNA with a set of Q-enhanced inductors are analyzed and compared. The Q of the on-chip spiral inductors that form the LNA load is enhanced by using a negative resistance realized with a cross-coupled differential pair degenerated and biased in various ways. The performance of the LNA is presented for the following types of Q-enhancement circuit: ideal negative resistor (ideal cell), tail-biased non-degenerated cross-coupled differential pair (classic cell), tail-biased resistively degenerated cross-coupled differential pair (resistive cell), tail-biased LC degenerated cross-coupled differential pair (B-cell), self-biased LC degenerated cross-coupled differential pair (BB-cell). The analysis focuses on the benefits of each cell related to s-parameter response, noise and linearity and the interdependency of Q vs. center frequency during tuning. Low voltage design challenges are addressed by presenting the advantages of the novel self-biased LC degenerated cross-coupled differential pair (BB-cell).  相似文献

Red/near‐infrared (NIR) fluorescent molecules with aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) characteristics are of great interest in bioimaging and therapeutic applications. However, their complicated synthetic approaches remain the major barrier to implementing these applications. Herein, a one‐pot synthetic strategy to prepare a series of red/NIR‐emissive AIE luminogens (AIEgens) by fine‐tuning their molecular structures and substituents is reported. The obtained AIEgens possess simple structures, good solubilities, large Stokes shifts, and bright emissions, which enable their applications toward in vitro and in vivo imaging without any pre‐encapsulation or ‐modification steps. Excellent targeting specificities to lipid droplets (LDs), remarkable photostabilities, high brightness, and low working concentrations in cell imaging application make them remarkably impressive and superior to commercially available LD‐specific dyes. Interestingly, these AIEgens can efficiently generate reactive oxygen species upon visible light irradiation, endowing their effective application for photodynamic ablation of cancer cells. This study, thus, not only demonstrates a facile synthesis of red/NIR AIEgens for dual applications in simultaneous imaging and therapy, but also offers an ideal architecture for the construction of AIEgens with long emission wavelengths.  相似文献

We introduce a probabilistic computer vision technique to track monotonically advancing boundaries of objects within image sequences. Our method incorporates a novel technique for including statistical prior shape information into graph-cut based segmentation, with the aid of a majorization-minimization algorithm. Extension of segmentation from single images to image sequences then follows naturally using sequential Bayesian estimation. Our methodology is applied to two unrelated sets of real biomedical imaging data, and a set of synthetic images. Our results are shown to be superior to manual segmentation.  相似文献

This paper demonstrates the first steps towards self‐healing composites that exploit a design philosophy inspired by the damage tolerance and self‐repair functions of bone. Cracking in either fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) or bone, if left unattended, can grow under subsequent cyclic stresses eventually leading to catastrophic failure of the structure. On detection of cracks, an FRP component must be repaired or completely replaced, whereas bone utilises a series of complex processes to repair such damage. Under normal circumstances, these processes allow the skeleton to continually perform over the lifespan of the organism, a highly desirable aspiration for engineering materials. A simple vasculature design incorporated into a FRP via a “lost wax” process was found to facilitate a self‐healing function which resulted in an outstanding recovery (≥96%) in post‐impact compression strength. The process involved infusion of a healing resin through the vascule channels. Resin egress from the backface damage, ultrasonic C‐scan testing, and microscopic evaluation all provide evidence that sufficient vascule–damage connectivity exists to confer a reliable and efficient self‐healing function.  相似文献

The conventional border patrol systems suffer from intensive human involvement. Recently, unmanned border patrol systems employ high-tech devices, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, unattended ground sensors, and surveillance towers equipped with camera sensors. However, any single technique encounters inextricable problems, such as high false alarm rate and line-of-sight-constraints. There lacks a coherent system that coordinates various technologies to improve the system accuracy. In this paper, the concept of BorderSense, a hybrid wireless sensor network architecture for border patrol systems, is introduced. BorderSense utilizes the most advanced sensor network technologies, including the wireless multimedia sensor networks and the wireless underground sensor networks. The framework to deploy and operate BorderSense is developed. Based on the framework, research challenges and open research issues are discussed.  相似文献

This paper discusses results from research related to the use of television as a device that supports social interaction between close-knit groups in settings that include more than two locations, each location being potentially equipped with more than one camera. The paper introduces the notion of a framing experience, as a specific scenario or situation within which social communication takes place. It reports on the evaluation of some of the key attributes of social communication through semi-structured interviews, with 16 families across four European countries. The inferences drawn from this study are reduced to four system capabilities including the ability to support: excitement, engagement and entertainment; high quality, reliable audiovisual communications; flexibility and adaptability sufficient to support the unpredictable and reactive nature of human interaction and discourse. These system requirements are, in turn, reduced to a number of technology challenges which if solved will help enable effective social communications between groups, mediated by the television. These technology challenges include: high quality reliable audio visual communication; interaction orchestration, multimedia interpretation and multimedia composition. Finally the paper reflects on the impact the use of framing experiences, such as those described here, could have on strategy and policy for service providers and regulators.  相似文献

Stable film morphology is critical for long‐term high performance organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). Neutron reflectometry (NR) is used to study the out‐of‐plane structure of blended thin films and multilayer structures comprising evaporated small molecules. It is found that as‐prepared blended films of fac‐tris(2‐phenylpyridyl)iridium(III) [Ir(ppy)3] in 4,4′‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)biphenyl (CBP) are uniformly mixed, but the occurrence of phase separation upon thermal annealing is dependent on the blend ratio. Films comprised of the ratio of 6 wt% of Ir(ppy)3 in CBP typically used in OLEDs are found to phase separate with moderate heating while a higher weight percent mixture (12 wt%) is found to be stable. Furthermore, it is found that thermal annealing of a multilayer film comprised of typical layers found in efficient devices ([tris(4‐carbazoyl‐9‐ylphenyl)amine (TCTA)/Ir(ppy)3:CBP/bathocuproine (BCP)]) causes the BCP layer to become mixed with the emissive blend layer, whereas the TCTA interface remains unchanged. This significant structural change causes no appreciable difference in the photo­luminescence of the stack although such a change would have a dramatic effect on the charge transport through the device, leading to changes in performance. These results demonstrate the effect of thermal stress on the delicate interplay between the chemical composition and morphology of OLED films.  相似文献

A novel and simple non-return-to-zero differential phase shift keying (NRZ-DPSK) wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system, which can simultaneously demultiplex and demodulate multiple wavelengths, is proposed and investigated in this paper.The phase-to-intensity demodulation principle is based on detuned filtering, which is achieved by using a single commercial array waveguide grating (AWG) in our scheme.By properly choosing appropriate AWG channels at the transmitter, the AWG at the receiver can act as both the demultiplexer and the demodulator of the DPSK signals.Simulations at 10, 20, and 40 Gbit/s show good flexibility and performance for the proposed system.  相似文献
