Single-point mutation in the ACTIN2 gene of the der1–3 mutant revealed that ACTIN2 is an essential actin isovariant required for root hair tip growth, and leads to shorter, thinner and more randomly oriented actin filaments in comparison to the wild-type C24 genotype. The actin cytoskeleton has been linked to plant defense against oxidative stress, but it is not clear how altered structural organization and dynamics of actin filaments may help plants to cope with oxidative stress. In this study, we characterized root growth, plant biomass, actin organization and antioxidant activity of the der1–3 mutant under oxidative stress induced by paraquat and H2O2. Under these conditions, plant growth was better in the der1–3 mutant, while the actin cytoskeleton in the der1–3 carrying pro35S::GFP:FABD2 construct showed a lower bundling rate and higher dynamicity. Biochemical analyses documented a lower degree of lipid peroxidation, and an elevated capacity to decompose superoxide and hydrogen peroxide. These results support the view that the der1–3 mutant is more resistant to oxidative stress. We propose that alterations in the actin cytoskeleton, increased sensitivity of ACTIN to reducing agent dithiothreitol (DTT), along with the increased capacity to decompose reactive oxygen species encourage the enhanced tolerance of this mutant against oxidative stress.  相似文献

Multi-letter quantum finite automata (QFAs) can be thought of quantum variants of the one-way multi-head finite automata (Hromkovi?, Acta Informatica 19:377?C384, 1983). It has been shown that this new one-way QFAs (multi-letter QFAs) can accept with no error some regular languages, for example (a?+?b)*b, that are not acceptable by QFAs of Moore and Crutchfield (Theor Comput Sci 237:275?C306, 2000) as well as Kondacs and Watrous (66?C75, 1997; Observe that 1-letter QFAs are exactly measure-once QFAs (MO-1QFAs) of Moore and Crutchfield (Theor Comput Sci 237:275?C306, 2000)). In this paper, we study the decidability of the equivalence and minimization problems of multi-letter QFAs. Three new results presented in this paper are the following ones: (1) Given a k 1-letter QFA ${{\mathcal A}_1}$ and a k 2-letter QFA ${{\mathcal A}_2}$ over the same input alphabet ??, they are equivalent if and only if they are (n 2 m k-1?m k-1?+?k)-equivalent, where m =?|??| is the cardinality of ??, k =?max(k 1,k 2), and n =?n 1?+?n 2, with n 1 and n 2 being numbers of states of ${{\mathcal A}_{1}}$ and ${{\mathcal A}_{2}}$ , respectively. When k =?1, this result implies the decidability of equivalence of measure-once QFAs (Moore and Crutchfield in Theor Comput Sci 237:275?C306, 2000). (It is worth mentioning that our technical method is essentially different from the previous ones used in the literature.) (2) A polynomial-time O(m 2k-1 n 8?+?km k n 6) algorithm is designed to determine the equivalence of any two multi-letter QFAs (see Theorems 2 and 3; Observe that if a brute force algorithm to determine equivalence would be used, as suggested by the decidability outcome of the point (1), the worst case time complexity would be exponential). Observe also that time complexity is expressed here in terms of the number of states of the multi-letter QFAs and k can be seen as a constant. (3) It is shown that the states minimization problem of multi-letter QFAs is solvable in EXPSPACE. This implies also that the state minimization problem of MO-1QFAs (see Moore and Crutchfield in Theor Comput Sci 237:275?C306, 2000, page 304, Problem 5), an open problem stated in that paper, is also solvable in EXPSPACE.  相似文献

The role of the gas–liquid separator on hydrodynamic characteristics in an internal‐loop airlift reactor (ALR) was investigated. Both gas holdup and liquid velocity were measured in a 30 dm3 airlift reactor with two different head configurations: with and without an enlarged separator. A magnetic tracer method using a neutrally buoyant magnetic particle as flowfollower was used to measure the liquid velocity in all sections of the internal‐loop airlift reactor. Average liquid circulation velocities in the main parts of the ALR were compared for both reactor configurations. At low air flow rates the separator had no influence on gas holdup, circulation velocity and intensity of turbulence in the downcomer and separator. At higher superficial air velocities, however, the separator design had a decisive effect on the hydrodynamic parameters in the downcomer and the separator. On the other hand, the gas holdup in the riser was only slightly influenced by the separator configuration in the whole range of air flow. Circulation flow regimes, characterising the behaviour of bubbles in the downcomer, were identified and the effect of the separator on these regimes was assessed. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A system similar to an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN), based on polyethylene/poly(methylmethacrylate-co-dodecyl methacrylate), was studied by the spin probe method with a nitroxide spin probe, 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy (TEMPO). The influence of changes in the composition of the copolymer (methyl methacrylate-co-dodecyl methacrylate) on the molecular mobility and composition of the IPNs is characterized by changes of the empirical spectral parameters T50G and τR. The molecular mobility was shown to diminish with rising content of methyl methacrylate in the copolymer. © of SCI.  相似文献

The broad‐line 1H‐NMR study of the polymer blend composed of isotactic polypropylene and ethylene–propylene–diene monomer rubber was carried out. The NMR measurements were performed on the samples of the polymer blend and on the components of the blend in the temperature range covering the glass‐transition regions of all studied polymers. Conclusions were drawn from the temperature dependencies of the second moment M2 and of the data obtained by the decomposition of the spectra into the components related to the motionally distinct regions of the partially crystalline polymer. The mass fractions of the amorphous, intermediate, and crystalline domains and the widths of the spectra related to the particular phases were computed from the spectra. A double glass transition was revealed for the polymer blend. Different mechanisms of the motional processes related to the glass transition were deduced from the data. The gradual increase of the number of the chains and the enhancement of the chain mobility within noncrystalline regions of the polymer blend are responsible for the motion related to the lower glass transition and only transformation of the hindered motion into free motion was found in the temperature region of the upper glass transition. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The phosphorus grain boundary segregation at 853 K was investigated in three low alloy steels with different vanadium content. Kinetic dependence of the phosphorus grain boundary concentration was determined experimentally by means of AES and described theoretically, as well. To assess the influence of the individual alloying elements on the phosphorus segregation, the metal composition of carbide phases at 853 K was predicted by means of thermodynamic calculations and confirmed by experimental measurements (TEM + EDX). The vanadium was found to enhance the phosphorus grain boundary segregation by reducing the amount of dissolved and segregated carbon. Thereby, the equilibrium of mutual displacement C (segregated) ? P (segregated) was shifted to more phosphorus segregation. The results achieved indicate that vanadium indirectly increases sensitivity of low alloy steels to intergranular embrittlement.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a method for determining the sorption isotherm from experimental measurements. The sorption isotherm is not assumed to be a member of any specific finite dimensional class (e.g. Freundlich isotherm, Langmuir isotherm). Instead, an infinite-dimensional space of functions is considered with limited a priori assumptions (e.g. smoothness, monotonicity). Consequently, we face a more challenging problem compared to the finite-dimensional case, in which only few tuning parameters need to be determined. We consider the case of flow of the contaminated water into the unsaturated porous media sample; we assume that the data are collected at the outflow. The sorption isotherm is determined in an iterative way. We minimize the cost functional reflecting the discrepancy between measured and computed data. In doing so, we use the Gateaux differential to obtain the direction of descent.  相似文献

Starting from the formulae for effective parameters of the particulate composite derived within the average field approximation, the formula for the percolation threshold is derived. The maximum value of the percolation threshold is ⅓ in the case of the isotropic granules of globular shape. Further, the experimental data obtained from the measurement of effective thermal conductivity and elastic shear modulus of the particulate composite polyethylene-CaCO3 cannot be interpreted in the framework of the average field approximation. For this reason it was necessary to modify the formulae for effective parameters, and they were able to describe the experiment. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Amyloid fibrils draw attention as potential novel biomaterials due to their high stability, strength, elasticity or resistance against degradation. Therefore, the controlled and fast fibrillization process is of great interest, which raises the demand for effective tools capable of regulating amyloid fibrillization. Ionic liquids (ILs) were identified as effective modulators of amyloid aggregation. The present work is focused on the study of the effect of 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium-based ILs with kosmotropic anion acetate (EMIM-ac) and chaotropic cation tetrafluoroborate (EMIM-BF4) on the kinetics of lysozyme amyloid aggregation and morphology of formed fibrils using fluorescence and CD spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, AFM with statistical image analysis and docking calculations. We have found that both ILs decrease the thermal stability of lysozyme and significantly accelerate amyloid fibrillization in a dose-dependent manner at concentrations of 0.5%, 1% and 5% (v/v) in conditions and time-frames when no fibrils are formed in ILs-free solvent. The effect of EMIM-BF4 is more prominent than EMIM-ac due to the different specific interactions of the anionic part with the protein surface. Although both ILs induced formation of amyloid fibrils with typical needle-like morphology, a higher variability of fibril morphology consisting of a different number of intertwining protofilaments was identified for EMIM-BF4.  相似文献
