In this paper, a two-dimensional (2-D) method describing the whispering gallery mode in a microgear resonator is presented. The microgear is a microdisk surrounded by a circular grating. The method, which is based on the Floquet-Bloch formalism, analytically describes the field within the disk and outside the grating. On the other hand, the field within the grating is calculated using a finite-difference scheme in polar coordinates. Matching the boundary conditions, it is possible to work in a forced oscillation regime or in a free oscillation regime (laser mode). The resonant wavelength and quality factor can then be deduced. Compared to the coupled mode theory and to 2-D finite-difference time-domain computations, the method is faster and more accurate. Moreover, a polarization effect of the microgear is demonstrated. The TE polarization experiences a Q-factor improvement contrary to TM polarization. Finally, microgear structures prove to be more efficient than micro flowers. 相似文献

The evolution of the phase portrait for the dynamic system of open evaporation combined with a chemical reaction for a fixed liquid amount was studied as dependent on the rate constants of the reaction. A three-component azeotropic mixture whose vapor-liquid equilibrium diagram is characterized by two distillation regions was considered. In this paper, we examine methods of characterizing somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP's) in both the time and frequency domains. We have found that the truncated impulse response (TIR) method produced an accurate time domain model of the SEP signals at model orders greatly reduced from the original state space matrix. The TIR method was valuable for smoothing signals that were slightly corrupted by noise. In this case, the simulated data sequence was close to the original data sequence in the mean squared error sense. For signals that were greatly corrupted by noise, the TIR method was not able to perform as well. Therefore, the TIR method was not a feature extraction method but was valuable for data simulation. In the frequency domain, we have used the autoregressive moving average model (ARMA) to parameterize the SEP signal. An overdetermined set of Yule-Walker equations was created to determine the autoregressive (AR) parameters of the original data with the model order established by the singular value decomposition. From these AR parameters, a residual time series was generated which was used to find the moving average parameters. The resulting ARMA model was used to produce a simulated data sequence. The frequency domain characteristics of the simulated sequence and the corresponding power spectral density of the ARMA filter were very close to the periodogram of the original data sequence. A temperature sensor using a fiber-optic Fabry-Perot interferometer is described. A pseudo-heterodyne detection scheme is adopted to read the light phase difference in the Fabry-Perot interference output. A higher harmonic components comparison method is used to stabilize the system and to increase detection linearity. This system realizes not only highly sensitive temperature sensing with good linearity and minimal adjusting error, but also application to the sensing of other physical quantities such as vibrations. Additionally, the signal-to-noise ratio and distortion of the detected signal are investigated as functions of fiber end reflectivity. An assessment is made of the technical contents of flight-vehicle structures curricula at 41 U.S. universities with accredited aerospace engineering programs. The assessment is based on the technical needs for the new and projected aeronautical and space systems as well as on the likely characteristics of the aerospace engineering work environment. A number of deficiencies and areas of concern are identified and recommendations are presented for enhancing the effectiveness of flight-vehicle structures education. When four goats were subjected to total water deprivation for 48 h once in early lactation and once in mid lactation and their voluntary food intake and effects on milk secretion were observed, milk volume decreased and lactose and fat concentration increased during both periods. However, when the goats were then fed the mean of their own food intake at the two previous water deprivation experiments, and were left free access to water, it was found that decreased food consumption had only a minor influence on milk secretion. When six goats were subjected to 48 h of food deprivation and six to 48 h of water deprivation, milk secretion decreased, but the reduction was delayed and of smaller magnitude during water deprivation. During food deprivation lactose concentration decreased and the milk protein and fat increased; the fatty acid composition changed from a greater proportion of short-chain to more long-chain fatty acids. During water deprivation milk fat and lactose concentrations increased, and only after 44 h did a change from short-chain to a larger proportion of long-chain fatty acids become evident. The results are presented of the fabrication of strain-relaxed graded Si1 − x
Gex/Si(001) buffer layers with a maximum Ge fraction of about 0.25 that have a low density of threading dislocations (<106 cm−2) and low surface roughness. The buffer layers are grown by atmospheric-pressure hydride CVD. It is found that chemical mechanical polishing can reduce their surface roughness to a level comparable with that of the original Si(001) substrates. This paper proposes a new control algorithm for a linear belt-driven servomechanism. The elasticity of the belt and large nonlinear friction along with large variation of parameters limit the applicability of the belt driven servosystems. Design of simple control that can guarantee stable, vibration-free operation for large variation of load is needed to extend application of such a linear stage. The proposed control is based on the application of sliding mode methods combined with Lyapunov design so it guarantees the stability of the system. Due to the restriction of the system motion to specially selected sliding mode manifold the vibration free position tracking is achieved with very good disturbance rejection. Proposed algorithm is simple and practical for an implementation and the tuning procedure of the control parameters is simple. The experiments have shown that the proposed control scheme effectively suppresses vibrations and assures wide closed-loop bandwidth for position tracking control. 相似文献
