A numerical method has been developed for the performance prediction of spiral wound modules with constant and tapered permeate spacers, It takes into account the pressure drop in the brine and permeate channels and makes use of a three parameter model for the mass transfer through the membrane. For a given application and operating conditions, optimum geometrical characteristics of modules can be found. Tapering the permeate spacer the specific permeation rate can be increased by 10-30%, the wider the membrane the higher the value.  相似文献

Studies were undertaken on the isolation and identification of reaction products of ammonium nitrate phosphate (ANP) fertilizers containing 30, 50 and 70 per cent water-soluble phosphorus (WSP) of total phosphorus in representative soils of the vertisol, oxisol, alfisol, entisol, mollisol and aridisol groups of India. ANP fertilizers were applied in solid form to soil, and reaction products formed at and around the site of ANP fertilizer placement were identified after six weeks incubation in moist soils by X-ray diffraction technique. DCPD (dicalcium phosphate dihydrate- CaHPO4 · 2H2O) was the major reaction product of ANP fertilizers containing 30 and 50 per cent WSP in vertisol, entisol, aridisol, mollisol, oxisol and alfisol, and of ANP containing 70 per cent WSP in vertisol, entisol, alfisol, aridisol and mollisol. DCP (dicalcium phosphate-CaHPO4) was detected with ANP of 30 and 50 per cent WSP in the vertisol, alfisol, entisol, mollisol and aridisol groups of soils. In addition to DCPD, FePO4 · 2H2O (metastrengite) and AlPO4 · 2H2 O-monoclinic (metavariscite) were formed in alfisol and oxisol soils with ANP of 30 and 50 per cent WSP. FePO4 · 2H2O and AlPO4 · 2H2O (metavariscite) were identified in alfisol and oxisol soils while AlPO4 · 2H2O-orthorhombic (variscite) was formed in alfisol soils with ANP of 70 per cent WSP.  相似文献

The development of early colour and the dehydrochlorination rate were compared for poly(vinyl chloride) samples obtained by suspension polymerization using two different initiators, dicetylperoxydicarbonate and butylperoxyneodecanoate. The degree of discolouration was measured on pressed plates and expressed as yellowness index (YI), the polyene sequence distribution was monitored by UV/Vis-spectroscopy, and the degradation rate was determined by measuring evolved HCI conductometrically. The PVC sample initiated by dicetylperoxydicarbonate exhibited more extensive early colour and a higher dehydrochlorination rate as compared to the sample obtained with butylperoxyneodecanoate as initiator. The UV/Vis-spectra showed that the early colour originates from polyene sequences. After extraction of the PVC resins with heptane: acetone (85 : 15) the early colour turned out to be almost the same for the two samples. From 13C-NMR measurements it was found that the extract of the sample polymerized with dicetylperoxydicarbonate contains unreacted initiator. We suggest that the radicals formed when the remaining initiator decomposes initiate dehydrochlorination. Our results also indicate that radicals from dicetylperoxydicarbonate may cause long-chain branches during polymerization. The radicals formed from butylperoxyneodecanoate, on the other hand, do not seem to react with the polymer molecules. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

FIB, SEM and STEM/EDX were used to investigate X20 stainless-steel samples exposed to dry O2, or O2 containing 40% H2O, with a flow velocity of 0.5 cm/s or 5 cm/s, for 168 hr or 336 hr at 600°C. Thin protective Cr-rich (Cr,Fe)2O3 was maintained on the samples exposed to dry O2, even after 336 hr, and on the sample exposed to O2/H2O mixture with the low-flow velocity (0.5 cm/s) for 168 hr. The oxide scale formed in the latter environment contained less Cr, due to Cr loss through CrO2(OH)2 evaporation. Breakaway oxidation occurred on the samples exposed in high-gas-flow velocity for shorter time (168 hr) or in low-gas-flow velocity (0.5 cm/s) for longer time (336 hr). The breakaway scales featured a two-layered structure: an outward-growing oxide “island” consisting of almost pure hematite (α-Fe2O3), and an inward-growing oxide “crater” consisting of (Cr,Fe)3O4. The transition from a thin protective (Cr,Fe)2O3 scale to a non-protective thick scale on this martensitic/ferritic steel originated locally and was followed by rapid oxide growth, resulting in a thick scale that covered the whole sample surface.  相似文献

The widespread use of bicarbonate dialysate and reprocessed high-efficiency and "high-flux" dialyzers has raised concerns about the increased risk of reverse-transfer of dialysate contaminants into the blood compartment. To evaluate this concern, the reverse-transfer of bacterial products from contaminated bicarbonate dialysate into the blood compartment was compared during in vitro dialysis with new or reprocessed high-flux polysulfone dialyzers. In vitro dialysis was carried out at 37 degrees C by use of a counter-current recirculating loop dialysis circuit with either new high-flux polysulfone dialyzers or dialyzers reprocessed once or 20 times with formaldehyde (0.75%) and bleach (< 1%) with an automated system. Heparinized whole blood from healthy volunteers was circulated through the blood compartment, and bicarbonate dialysate was circulated in the dialysate compartment. The dialysate was challenged sequentially by 1:1000 and 1:100 dilutions of a sterile Pseudomonas aeruginosa culture supernatant (bacterial challenge). Samples were drawn from the blood and dialysate compartments 1 h after each challenge. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were harvested by Ficoll-Hypaque separation from whole blood in the blood compartment and a 5 x 10(6) PBMC/mL cell suspension was prepared. Likewise, dialysate samples (0.5 mL) were added to 0.5 mL suspension of 5 x 10(6) PBMC/mL drawn at baseline. All PBMC suspensions were incubated upright in a humidified atmosphere at 37 degrees C with 5% CO2 for 24 h, and total interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF alpha) cytokine production (cell-associated and secreted) was measured by radioimmunoassay. Eight experiments were performed for each arm of the study with the same donor for each arm. One hour after contaminating the dialysate with a 1:1000 dilution of the bacterial challenge, IL-1 alpha production by PBMC harvested from the blood compartment was 160 +/- 0, 171 +/- 11, and 270 +/- 35 pg, respectively, for new dialyzers, dialyzers reprocessed once, and dialyzers reprocessed 20 times (P = 0.004). One hour after challenging the dialysate with 1:100 dilution, IL-1 alpha production by PBMC harvested from the blood compartment was 188 +/- 20, 228 +/- 35, and 427 +/- 67 pg, respectively, for new dialyzers, dialyzers reprocessed once, and dialyzers reprocessed 20 times (P = 0.006). IL-1 alpha production by PBMC from dialyzers reprocessed 20 times was significantly greater than both new and dialyzers reprocessed once. However, there were no significant differences between new dialyzers and dialyzers reprocessed once. Similarly, after the 1:1000 challenge, TNF alpha production by PBMC harvested from the blood compartment was 160 +/- 0, 160 +/- 0, and 213 +/- 22 pg, respectively, for new dialyzers, dialyzers reprocessed once, and dialyzers reprocessed 20 times (P = 0.008). After the 1:100 challenge, TNF alpha production was 168 +/- 8, 188 +/- 20, and 225 +/- 32 pg, respectively, for new dialyzers, dialyzers reprocessed once, and dialyzers reprocessed 20 times (P = 0.20). These results demonstrate that reprocessing of high-flux polysulfone dialyzers with bleach increases the risk of reverse-transfer of bacterial products from contaminated dialysate, and this risk appears to increase with the number of reuses. Consequently, units that reprocess membranes with bleach and have suboptimal water quality might subject their patients to a higher risk of cytokine-related morbidity.  相似文献

Eight subjects spent a single night in the sleep laboratory. Event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded during the presentation of two auditory "oddball' stimulus conditions in which tonal frequency was manipulated. In the first condition, 1000 Hz "standard' and 2000 Hz "deviant' tones were presented. In the second condition, the deviant tone was reduced to 1050 Hz. In both conditions, deviant probability was 0.2. Stimuli were presented every 600 ms during wakefulness and stages 2, 4, and REM of sleep. A distinctive N1 wave was visible in both stimulus conditions when the subject was awake. The deviant stimuli elicited a "mismatch negativity' (MMN) that inverted in polarity at the mastoid. In REM sleep, an N1 and a MMN were also elicited in both conditions. In the large deviance condition, the MMN had a slightly attenuated amplitude and was shorter in duration while in the small deviant condition, its peak latency was unusually early. Neither the N1 nor the MMN could be recorded in non-REM sleep.  相似文献

We study a family of problems, called Maximum Solution (Max Sol), where the objective is to maximise a linear goal function over the feasible integer assignments to a set of variables subject to a set of constraints. When the domain is Boolean (i.e. restricted to {0,1}), the maximum solution problem is identical to the well-studied Max Ones problem, and the complexity and approximability is completely understood for all restrictions on the underlying constraints. We continue this line of research by considering the Max Sol problem for relations defined by regular signed logic over finite subsets of the natural numbers; the complexity of the corresponding decision problem has recently been classified by Creignou et al. (Theory Comput. Syst. 42(2):239–255, 2008). We give sufficient conditions for when such problems are polynomial-time solvable and we prove that they are APX-hard otherwise. Similar dichotomies are also obtained for variants of the Max Sol problem.  相似文献

We study the problem of automatic generation of smooth and obstacle-avoiding planar paths for efficient guidance of autonomous mining vehicles. Fast traversal of a path is of special interest. We consider fourwheel four-gear articulated vehicles and assume that we have an a priori knowledge of the mine wall environment in the form of polygonal chains. Computing quartic uniform B-spline curves, minimizing curvature variation, staying at least at a proposed safety margin distance from the mine walls, we plan high speed paths. We present a study where our implementations are successfully applied on eight path-planning cases arising from real-world mining data provided by the Swedish mining company Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara AB (LKAB). The results from the study indicate that our proposed methods for computing obstacle-avoiding minimum curvature variation B-splines yield paths that are substantially better than the ones used by LKAB today. Our simulations show that, with an average 32.13%, the new paths are faster to travel along than the paths currently in use. Preliminary results from the production at LKAB show an overall 5%-10% decrease in the total time for an entire mining cycle. Such a cycle includes both traveling, ore loading, and unloading.  相似文献

We present a black-box active learning algorithm for inferring extended finite state machines (EFSM)s by dynamic black-box analysis. EFSMs can be used to model both data flow and control behavior of software and hardware components. Different dialects of EFSMs are widely used in tools for model-based software development, verification, and testing. Our algorithm infers a class of EFSMs called register automata. Register automata have a finite control structure, extended with variables (registers), assignments, and guards. Our algorithm is parameterized on a particular theory, i.e., a set of operations and tests on the data domain that can be used in guards.Key to our learning technique is a novel learning model based on so-called tree queries. The learning algorithm uses tree queries to infer symbolic data constraints on parameters, e.g., sequence numbers, time stamps, identifiers, or even simple arithmetic. We describe sufficient conditions for the properties that the symbolic constraints provided by a tree query in general must have to be usable in our learning model. We also show that, under these conditions, our framework induces a generalization of the classical Nerode equivalence and canonical automata construction to the symbolic setting. We have evaluated our algorithm in a black-box scenario, where tree queries are realized through (black-box) testing. Our case studies include connection establishment in TCP and a priority queue from the Java Class Library.  相似文献

The Water Poverty Index (WPI), a tool designed for integrated analysis of water issues, was set-up in a community in Madhya Pradesh, India through a transparent and participatory process. Though the aim of the WPI is to primarily use existing statistical data, quantitative information from census and local records was combined with qualitative data from community interviews and participatory exercises. The inclusion of community chosen indicators and the adjustment of values so that higher numbers represent water prosperity rather than water poverty, led to the Water Prosperity Index (WPI+). The WPI?+?score was contrasted with the WPI at community level. It was also calculated for two community areas with different caste and socio-economic characteristics and weighted separately according to water issues prioritized by men and women. The WPI?+?revealed a great difference in water access between the two areas and in prioritized issues between men and women illustrating the importance of appropriate spatial representation and gender sensitive assessments for revealing important disparities. Results also showed that highly aggregated data hide these differences making it more difficult to target the most vulnerable groups when planning measures to increase equitable water allocation. While quantitative data reveal an important perspective of the water situation, qualitative data about adequacy of resources, services or institutions, improve understanding of which issues to prioritize. A valid and useful community water index must be based on representative participation, transparency and local influence on the methodology and subsequent results.  相似文献
