The chromatogram of ropinirole in the presence of about 5% of a closely eluting impurity, obtained by HPLC with diode-array detection, was analysed by chemometric procedures. Log eigenvalue plots were used to determine the relative composition of regions of the chromatogram. It is shown that since the peaks exhibit tailing, unusual behaviour is found in the plots. This is verified by performing simulations, in which it is demonstrated that peak asymmetry has a pronounced influence on this chemometric approach. In many cases of liquid chromatographic analysis, asymmetric peak shapes are encountered and methods for peak purity assessment should be re-evaluated in the light of these asymmetries.  相似文献

Typically obturator nerve blockade is used to relieve hip pain. It sometimes only has a minor effect in resolving symptoms. This clinical observation led us to examine comprehensively the sensory nerve innervation of formalin-fixed hip joint capsules. Following macroscopic preparation, the area of the hip joint capsule was inspected with the aid of an operating microscope. We discovered a separation between the anterior and posterior sensory innervation of the hip joint capsule. The anteromedial innervation was determined by the articular branches of the obturator n. Additionally, the anterior hip joint capsule was innervated by sensory articular branches from the femoral n. In the posterior part we found articular branches from the sciatic n., which in addition to the articular branches from the nerves to the quadratus femoris m., innervate the postero-medial section of the hip joint capsule. Moreover, articular branches of the superior gluteal n. were found, which innervate the posterolateral section of the hip joint capsule. This anatomical study demonstrates that the obturator n. block is insufficient for the treatment of hip pain. Further investigations will determine if these nn. can be reached percutaneously. Effective neural blockade of the hip joint must include the femoral n., the sciatic n. and the superior gluteal n.  相似文献

We examine the error floor of minimum shift keying (MSK) when the receiver uses selection diversity. Both received signal strength indication (RSSI)-driven diversity and bit error rate (BER)-driven diversity are analyzed. The considered channel is a two-delay Rayleigh-fading channel; detection is done by differential detectors with either fixed or adaptive determination of the sampling time. Analysis is based on the method of error regions, where the instantaneous impulse response is represented by phasors in the complex plane. We first compute the joint probability density function (pdf) of the phasors of the two diversity branches. Depending on the selection criterion, the error probability is then computed as an integral over certain functions of this pdf. In the limit of small delay spreads S, the integrals are evaluated analytically. For fixed sampling, the admissible delay spread for BER=10-3 is increased by about a factor of three (as compared to the no-diversity case) for RSSI-driven diversity and a factor of four for BER-driven diversity. For adaptive sampling, RSSI-driven diversity gives little improvement in the admissible S for BER=10-3 while BER-driven diversity increases it by some 50%. Inguinal herniorrhaphy remains one of the most common surgical operations, with approximately 10 to 20 per cent performed for recurrence. Reviews by specialized hernia centers show mesh repair has a recurrence rate of 0.2 per cent. Detractors of this repair include increased cost, technical difficulty, and risk for infection. The purpose of this study was to compare mesh versus nonmesh inguinal herniorrhaphy at a large teaching institution. From 1985 to 1994, 892 patients underwent primary repair for inguinal hernia at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Memphis, TN. Patients were stratified by repair [Lichtenstein (Mesh), open anterior (Bassini, Marcy, McVay, and Shouldice), laparoscopic (Lap), and preperitoneal (Post)]. Operative time for Mesh repair (111 +/- 2 minutes) was longer than for Bassini or McVay (91 +/- 2 and 98 +/- 2 minutes; P < 0.05), and Lap repairs were longer than all others (192 +/- 16 minutes; P < 0.05). Hospital stay averaged 2.2 +/- 0.1 days for Mesh versus 2.6 +/- 0.1 days for all repairs combined (P = not significant). Mesh patients developed four wound infections (1.0%), none requiring mesh removal, versus nine infections (1.8%) in other groups (P = not significant). One Mesh patient (0.3%) developed recurrence, compared with 16 (3.5%) with open anterior repair (P < 0.01). Inguinal herniorrhaphy using an open mesh repair technique provides superior recurrence rates without increasing risk for infection, length of stay, or technical difficulty.  相似文献

Chronic kidney disease accounts for a significant portion of many national health-care budgets. In this viewpoint, we highlight recent advances in urinary proteomic analyses that potentially may soon enhance the care of afflicted patients. To achieve this goal, cooperation of interdisciplinary teams from around the world will be vital, so as to standardize methodology for preparation urine samples and technical aspects of the analyses, and for better application of results. These collaborative activities will facilitate translational research in kidney diseases.  相似文献

A density gradient apparatus was used to examine the separation of different physical forms and sizes of DNA. A gradient of sucrose was used to stabilize thermal convection during electrophoresis in the column (2.2 cm in diameter). Linear polymers were added to the density gradient and screened for their ability to separate the supercoiled, nicked circular, and linear forms of the plasmid pBR 322. The influence of different concentrations and molecular weights of the polymers was examined on the separation. Polyethylene oxide with a molecular weight of 5,000,000 and a concentration of 0.2% w/v achieved the best separation results for the different physical forms of the plasmid. The order of separation of the different physical forms of the plasmid were linear (fastest), supercoiled, and nicked circular (slowest). These conditions were also used to separate a preparation of bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) DNA. A rapidly moving form, presumably the supercoiled form, was resolved from a large amount of E. coli genomic DNA and from sheared forms of the BAC DNA.  相似文献

Previous research has shown that bicycle helmet use among older children and adolescents continues to be low. This study determined middle school students' knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to bicycle helmet use. Six middle schools in Hillsborough County, Fla., served as the research settings. A pretested survey instrument was administered to students. Overall, 3,333 sixth and seventh graders responded. Results showed that most children owned a bicycle, 38.1% owned a helmet, but only 15.8% wore a helmet the last time they rode a bike. Many students (49.7%) did not know or did not believe there was a bicycle helmet law in Florida. Predictors of helmet use were intention to use a helmet the next time one rides a bike, having a helmet, siblings' use of helmets, and friends' use of helmets.  相似文献

The effect of post-implantation anneal on erbium-doped 6H-SiC has been investigated. 6H-SiC has been implanted with 330 keV Er+ at a dose of 1 × 1013 /cm2. Er depth profiles were obtained by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). The as-implanted Er-profile had a peak concentration of∼1.3 × 1018/cm3 at a depth of 770Å. The samples were annealed in Ar at temperatures from 1200 to 1900°C. The photoluminescence intensity integrated over the 1.5 to 1.6 μm region is essentially independent of annealing temperature from 1400 to 1900°C. Reduced, but still significant PL intensity, was measured from the sample annealed at 1200°C. The approximate diffusivity of Er in 6H SiC was calculated from the SIMS profiles, yielding values from 4.5 × 10−16 cm2/s at 1200°C to 5.5 × 10−15 cm2/s at 1900°C.  相似文献

We report a patient diagnosed prenatally on routine fetal ultrasound, at 30 weeks' gestation, with subdural haemorrhage. The mother had suffered a mild abdominal trauma and had Factor XI deficiency; however, both were felt to be aetiologically insignificant. Prenatal follow-up showed a complete resolution of the haematoma and no postnatal sequelae have been noted to date. The aetiologies and outcomes in the few previously reported cases are reviewed and compared with our case.  相似文献
