Geometric algebra: a computational framework for geometrical applications. 2

Every vector space with an inner product has a geometric algebra, whether or not you choose to use it. This article shows how to call on this structure to define common geometrical constructs, ensuring a consistent computational framework. The goal is to show you that this can be done and that it is compact, directly computational, and transcends the dimensionality of subspaces. We do not use geometric algebra to develop new algorithms for graphics, but hope to demonstrate that one can automatically take care of some of the lower level algorithmic aspects, without tricks, exceptions, or hidden degenerate cases by using geometric algebra as a language.

Complicated colorectal carcinoma has several symptoms, the most common being bleeding and obstruction. Occasionally it will cause perforation, which carries a worse prognosis. We report a case of perforated adenocarcinoma of the cecum that presented as an abscess of the thigh. We also present a review of the literature on this subject.     

Application of the weibull proportional hazards model to aircraft and marine engine failure data

The environment in which an equipment operates and associated diagnostic variables, such as metal particle level in engine oil, are factors that can influence an equipment's failure time. These factors can be incorporated into concomitant variable models such as the proportional hazards model (PHM), which has been widely used in medical research but not in engineering reliability. A Weibull PHM is applied to both aircraft engine failure data and marine gas turbine failure data. Examination of the residuals shows a good fit of the Weibull proportional hazards model to the data.     

High-performance logic and high-gain analog CMOS transistors formedby a shadow-mask technique with a single implant step

Transistors have been fabricated with a photoresist mask placed in close proximity to the gate so as to effectively block the angled halo implant from the gate region. Devices for which the halo has been eliminated demonstrate superior drain conductance, while devices with the halo implant show the short-channel effect required for high performance. Asymmetric devices have also been fabricated in a similar manner, producing devices with improved analog characteristics without an additional masking layer

Presents the obituary of I. L. Janis, a personality and social psychologist and a recipient of the 1981 Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the American Psychological Association. Janis's work focused on attitude change, stress and coping, "groupthink," conflict resolution in personal decision making, and international crisis management.
