Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy and has a unique metastatic route using ascites, known as the transcoelomic root. However, studies on ascites and contained cellular components have not yet been sufficiently clarified. In this review, we focus on the significance of accumulating ascites, contained EOC cells in the form of spheroids, and interaction with non-malignant host cells. To become resistant against anoikis, EOC cells form spheroids in ascites, where epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition stimulated by transforming growth factor-β can be a key pathway. As spheroids form, EOC cells are also gaining the ability to attach and invade the peritoneum to induce intraperitoneal metastasis, as well as resistance to conventional chemotherapy. Recently, accumulating evidence suggests that EOC spheroids in ascites are composed of not only cancer cells, but also non-malignant cells existing with higher abundance than EOC cells in ascites, including macrophages, mesothelial cells, and lymphocytes. Moreover, hetero-cellular spheroids are demonstrated to form more aggregated spheroids and have higher adhesion ability for the mesothelial layer. To improve the poor prognosis, we need to elucidate the mechanisms of spheroid formation and interactions with non-malignant cells in ascites that are a unique tumor microenvironment for EOC.  相似文献

Various configurations of a column for performing the principle of HIDiC can be proposed, but a coaxial column which is installed a packing in an inside tube and outer side may be one of the simplest columns for HIDiC. In order to examine whether or not the configuration of the packed column mentioned above is appropriate to HIDiC, an experimental apparatus has been set up and heat and mass transfer rates have been measured by using benzene-toluene system. The distribution of double bonds in thermally degraded polyisobutylene was determined quantitatively by using pulsed Fourier transform 1H n.m.r. spectroscopic analysis. The double bonds in the degraded polymer did not exist in the interior but at the terminal positions of the polymer chain. These olefins were of the terminal trisubstituted and terminal vinylidene types. The content of the former was much greater than that of the latter. This shows that radical chain transfer predominantly occurs at the methylene hydrogen rather than at the methyl groups of the polymer chain. The average number of double bonds per molecule, f, was greater than 1 and tended to be near 2. Thereby most of the degraded polyisobutylene was shown to have two terminal unsaturations per molecule.  相似文献

We have been studying on estimating distribution of permittivity between measurement electrodes using capacitance and electric potential. Two arc electrodes were separated by long distance and there electrodes were surrounded by additional electrodes respectively. In past research work, we carried out numerical electric analysis for calculating the capacitance and electric potential using Finite Element Method (FEM) and compared with experimental and numerical results. The capacitance values were almost agreed with experimental and numerical results. However, the electric potential values were different between experimental and numerical results in conventional studies. In this paper, we proposed an equivalent circuit including the stray capacity and measurement method for capacitance, the electric potential in space between long distance electrodes was estimated.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a capacitively coupled Hall-type MHD generator using ECR plasma. To clarify the characteristics of the fabricated MHD generator, we measured the power generation characteristics as a function of magnetic field strength using a DC Hall-type MHD power generation experiment. The results showed that the output power decreased due to magnetic pressure at the higher magnetic field. However, the output power corresponded to the theoretical value at the lower magnetic field. An AC Hall-type MHD power generation experiment was conducted using an AC magnetic field. As a result, full-wave rectification voltage was observed as per theory. Finally, capacitively coupled Hall-type MHD power generation experiments were conducted, and full-wave rectified waveforms were observed as in AC Hall-type MHD power generation. These waveforms were similar to the output waveforms predicted from theory. These results show that the capacitively coupled Hall-type MHD generator is feasible.  相似文献

The impulse current test is an important test that is used for the evaluation of lightning protection equipment. The quality of the test greatly depends on the measuring system. Some countries already have their own standard measuring systems. Standard systems are under construction in Japan and Korea. According to the international standard on high‐voltage test techniques, a comparison test is needed to confirm the impulse parameters which have traceability or compatibility with the standard values. Different from intercomparison of impulse voltage measuring systems, Japan and Korea have not conducted an international comparison test for impulse current measuring systems. Now we have jointly conducted a comparison test for impulse current measurement. As a result, it was confirmed that the system of Japan is compatible with that of Korea, which is traceable to another foreign national standard. In evaluating the uncertainty of the standard measuring system for lightning‐impulse high voltages, which is composed of a standard voltage divider, a digital recorder, and calibrators, step‐response tests of the standard voltage divider may be useful. In this paper, a convolution algorithm is employed to calculate the output impulse voltage waveforms from measured step‐response waveforms. The uncertainties of peak‐value measurement due to the influence of the nominal epoch, uncertainty of the peak‐value measurement due to dispersion of the AC scale factor, and uncertainty of the virtual front‐time measurement due to long‐term stability are evaluated. Furthermore, the error of the virtual front time of the output waveforms is discussed. The front part of the step‐response waveform, tT30%, does not influence the error of the virtual front time. Therefore, for the standard voltage divider, the step‐response parameters, that is, the experimental response time, partial response time, settling time, and overshoot, have almost nothing to do with the error of the virtual front time. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple sampling method to collect aerosol particles for transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis was developed by R’mili and others in 2013. The method involves passing air through a holey carbon film-coated copper mesh TEM grid (holey carbon grid) and sampling particles by filtration. In this study, we proposed a modified calculation method to represent the collection efficiencies of holey carbon grids, taking into consideration the porosity of the copper mesh. We then evaluated the particle collection efficiencies of holey carbon grids both theoretically and experimentally. We tested the collection efficiency of two types of holey carbon grids, with nominal pore sizes of 1.2 and 0.6 μm, using particles of monodispersed polystyrene latex (PSL) and potassium chloride. The overall collection efficiency of each grid (Egrid) was determined by the downstream/upstream concentration ratio measured by condensation particle counters (CPCs). In addition, for PSL particles, the collection efficiency of the holey carbon film (Efilm) was determined by the ratio of the number of particles on the film (counted on a scanning electron microscope) to the number of inflow particles (counted by a CPC). We compared model calculations against the experimental results obtained in this study and those reported by R’mili and others in 2013. These data showed that the calculated Egrid values were in reasonably good agreement with the experimental Egrid values. However, although the model calculation indicated that EfilmEgrid, there was an inconsistency between the experimental Efilm and Egrid, which requires further investigation in order to determine its cause.
