The ferroelectric liquid crystals, because of their fast electro‐optical response, are one of the most important classes of liquid crystals. Here, in this review, we have summarized the different electro‐optical modes for ferroelectric liquid crystals. Clark–Lagerwall effect (surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal), deformed helix ferroelectric (DHF) effect, electrically suppressed helix (ESH) mode, DHF orientational Kerr effect, and ESH diffraction modes have been discussed. All of the crucial features, that is, optics, electro‐optics, dynamics, and their dependence on material parameters, operational regime, and applications, have been reviewed.  相似文献

Subsequent to our observation that the Tl- and Bi-based cuprate high-T c superconductors are built of superconductor-semiconductor arrays (P. C. W. Fung and W. Y. Kwok,J. The power control system is a key control system for a nuclear reactor, which directly concerns the safe operation of a nuclear reactor. Much attention is paid to the power control system performance of nuclear reactor in engineering. The designers put a high value upon design of an optimal power control system. In this paper, a design method is applied to the design of power control system. According to the optimal control theory, an objective function, quadratic performance index with weight factors is proposed. Then, the objective function is transformed into frequency domain form by use of Paserval's theorem. In frequency domain, an optimal transfer function can be obtained at the lowest value of objective function. The system with optimal transfer function has an optimal performance. The transfer function of the power control system is derived from a typical research nuclear reactor. Using the state feedback theory, the transfer function is synthesized to the optimal transfer function. The simulative results with the optimal controller and with a conventional controller show that the performance of the optimal power control system is largely improved on dynamic characters. The method applied here not only can be used for research nuclear reactor but also can be easily extended to pressurized water reactor power plant and other fields.  相似文献

This study introduces dynamic displacement vision system (DDVS), which is applicable for imaging unapproachable structures using a hand-held digital video camcorder and is more economical than the existing contact and contactless measurement methods of dynamic displacement and deformation. This proposed DDVS method is applied to the Region of Interest (ROI) resizing and coefficient updating at each time step to improve the accuracy of the measurement from the digital image. Thus, after evaluating the algorithms conducted in this study by the static and dynamic verification, the measurement's usability by calculating the dynamic displacement of the masonry specimen, and the two-story steel frame specimen is evaluated under uniaxial seismic loading. The algorithm of the proposed method in this study, despite the relatively low resolution during frozen, slow, and seismic motions, has precision and usability that can replace the existing displacement transducer. Moreover, the method can be effectively applied to even fast behavior for multi-measurement positions like the seismic simulation test using large scale specimen. DDVS, using the consecutive images of the structures with an economic, hand-held digital video camcorder is a more economical displacement sensing concept than the existing contact and contactless measurement methods.  相似文献
