Vegetable oils are very promising alternatives to fossil lubricants due to their abundance, low cost, excellent performance, and environmental friendliness. Due to its multifunctional structure, castor oil is an excellent precursor in the synthesis of new biolubricants. However, it showed poor thermal-oxidative stability and a higher pour point. This study used castor oil fatty acids prepared by transesterification (EHRO), epoxidation (TEPO), and oxirane ring opening with the aromatic amines aniline (ANIL) and p-anisidine (ANIS). The chemical structure of these oils was verified by 1H and 13C NMR analysis, and mass spectrometry. Measurements show that the presence of an aromatic amine increases the viscosity resulting in 172 (ANIL) and 199 (ANIS) cSt at 40°C, but reduces viscosity index to 16 and 1, respectively. In addition, the amine groups can scavenge radicals increasing their thermal and oxidative stability. These products do not oxidize copper, and tribological analysis reveals that ANIS has the lowest torque with wear equivalent to commercial mineral lubricant NH-140.  相似文献

A parallel automated track collector is integrated with a rationally designed centrifugal spinning head to collect aligned polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers. Centrifugal spinning is an extremely promising nanofiber fabrication technology due to high production rates. However, continuous oriented fiber collection and processing presents challenges. Engineering solutions to these two challenges are explored in this study. A 3D-printed head design, optimized through a computational fluid dynamics simulation approach, is utilized to limit unwanted air currents that disturb deposited nanofibers. An automated track collecting device has pulled deposited nanofibers away from the collecting area. This results in a continuous supply of individual aligned nanofibers as opposed to the densely packed nanofiber mesh ring that is deposited on conventional static post collectors. The automated track collector allows for simple integration of the postdraw processing step that is critical to polymer fiber manufacturing for enhancing macromolecular orientation and mechanical properties. Postdrawing has enhanced the mechanical properties of centrifugal spun PAN nanofibers, which have different crystalline properties compared with conventional PAN microfiber. These technological developments address key limitations of centrifugal spinning that can facilitate high production rate commercial fabrication of highly aligned, high-performance polymer nanofibers.  相似文献

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a synthetic commercial polymer with the inherent hydrophilicity, thermal and chemical resistance, ecofriendly, and a high anti-fouling potential making it an attractive choice for water treatment applications, but has been less studied for oil and gas industry applications. On the other hands, nowadays nanotechnology has gained an important space within most core areas in upstream oil and gas operations. The present work, first PVA at various concentrations, was added to 5 wt% NaCl solution and then, crosslinked by formaldehyde 37% at two different concentration ratios. To compare, a nanocomposite hydrogel was fabricated in the same way with 1 wt% silica nanoparticles (NPs). Contact angle and filtration test were performed to confirm the ability of PVA hydrogel and nanocomposite hydrogel for oil and water adsorption. Following this, a rheology measurement was made to realize the gelation time of samples and their performance for water shutoff applications. Finally, an experimental flooding setup was designed to inject the fluids into carbonate plugs in order to estimate of oil and water effective permeability, and oil recovery factor (RF) before and after the PVA hydrogel and nanocomposite hydrogel injection. Both samples wettability tests showed a super-hydrophilic state for brine droplets and neutral state for synthetic oil droplets by using nanocomposite hydrogel. The flooding tests revealed that the PVA hydrogel was clogged the plug with blocking efficiency of 32.83% for water effective permeability and 14.60% for oil effective permeability. This value was calculated to be 50.37% for water effective permeability and 31.36% for oil effective permeability in the case of nanocomposite hydrogel injection. Oil RF was also reported to be 64.58% after injecting PVA hydrogel which was higher than nanocomposite hydrogel injection with RF of 52.08%.  相似文献

The anatase-rutile phase transformation in Ar–Cl2 atmosphere has been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. At 950°C the phase transformation in Ar–Cl2 atmosphere is about 300 times faster than in air. The growth of crystals of rutile from the vapor phase has been observed. We also determined that anatase powders with adsorbed chlorine rapidly rapidly transformed to rutile and underwent a color change from white to gray when they were heated in Ar atmosphere.  相似文献

The present study aimed to investigate the phytochemical profile of leaf methanol extracts of fourteen Smallanthus sonchifolius (yacon) landraces and their antioxidant, anticholinesterase and antidiabetic activities that could lead to the finding of more effective agents for the treatment and management of Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes. For this purpose, antioxidant activity was assessed using different tests: ferric reducing ability power (FRAP), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH), nitric oxide (˙NO) and superoxide (O2˙) scavenging and lipid peroxidation inhibition assays. Anticholinesterase activity was investigated by quantifying the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitory activities, whereas antidiabetic activity was investigated by α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition tests. To understand the contribution of metabolites, phytochemical screening was also performed by high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) system. Among all, methanol extract of PER09, PER04 and ECU44 landraces exhibited the highest relative antioxidant capacity index (RACI). ECU44 was found to be rich in 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (CQA) and 3,5-di-O-CQA and displayed a good α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition, showing the lowest IC50 values. Flavonoids, instead, seem to be involved in the AChE and BChE inhibition. The results of this study revealed that the bioactive compound content differences could be determinant for the medicinal properties of this plant especially for antioxidant and antidiabetic activities.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of feed pH (2.2 - original effluent pH – up to 6.0) and temperature (20 up to 40°C) on the performance of integrated ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) applied to gold mining effluent. pH increase led to a significant decrease in UF permeate flux. NF showed high retention efficiencies of ions when temperature was below 30°C. Retention of high-valence counter-ions to balance the charge of retained co-ions seemed to be the strongest NF mechanisms. Process performance at feed pH of 5.0 was superior in terms of fouling, retention efficiency, and investment cost.  相似文献

Crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels are widely used in gel/HA fluid formulations as a viscosupplement to treat joint diseases; thus, it is important to characterize these hydrogels in terms of their particle size and to investigate the effects of the gel/fluid mixtures on their rheological properties and extrusion force. Hydrogels previously crosslinked with divinyl sulfone were sheared in an Ultra‐Turrax unit to produce particles with mean diameters ranging from 20 to 200 μm. Hydrogels with 75–100 μm mean diameters were also evaluated in dispersions containing a 20–40% mass fraction of HA fluid. The mean diameters were measured by laser light scattering and the rheological behavior was determined by oscillatory and steady measurements in parallel plate geometry. The HA hydrogels exhibited the typical behavior of so‐called weak gels, as analyzed by the storage and loss moduli G′ and G″, respectively. The viscoelasticity, the viscosity, and the extrusion force increased with the hydrogel particle size. The fluid phase dispersions decreased both moduli. At 40% fluid fraction, the gel characteristics were lost and the dispersion behaved as a fluid. Based on these results, the particle size and HA fluid fraction in hydrogel dispersions may be optimized to develop more efficient viscosupplement formulations. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Organic coatings based on epoxy and polyurethane matrices containing polyaniline doped with dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid (Pani-DBSA) were prepared and applied over steel plates (SAE 1020). The plates were submitted to salt spray chamber for up to 30 days in order to evaluate the corrosion protection of these coatings. The properties of the coated plates were analyzed as a function of time by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, open circuit potential, optical microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. In general, results indicate a decrease in the electrical resistance, increase in capacitance and decrease in open circuit potential. Epoxy based coatings have improved performance when Pani-DBSA is used as pigment, whereas for the polyurethane coatings, Pani-DBSA seems to play an adverse effect. Raman spectroscopy indicates a possible chlorination of the epoxy matrix after 30 days exposure to salt spray chamber.  相似文献

The active phase Ce0.5Pr0.5O2 has been loaded on commercial substrates (SiC DPF and cordierite honeycomb monolith) to perform DPF regeneration experiments in the exhaust of a diesel engine. Also, a powder sample has been prepared to carry out soot combustion experiments at laboratory. Experiments performed in the real diesel exhaust demonstrated the catalytic activity of the Ce–Pr mixed oxide for the combustion of soot, lowering the DPF regeneration temperature with regard to a counterpart catalyst-free DPF. The temperature for active regeneration of the Ce0.5Pr0.5O2-containing DPF when the soot content is low is in the range of 500–550 °C. When the Ce0.5Pr0.5O2-containing DPF is saturated with a high amount of soot, pressure drop and soot load at the filter reach equilibrium at around 360 °C under steady state engine operation due to passive regeneration. The uncoated DPF reached this equilibrium at around 440 °C. Comparing results at real exhaust with those at laboratory allow concluding that the Ce0.5Pr0.5O2-catalysed soot combustion in the real exhaust is not based on the NO2-assisted mechanism but is most likely occurring by the active oxygen-based mechanism.  相似文献
