Quantification of the relative myocardial deformation rate, or strain rate, is an emerging capability to aid a cardiologist in assessing myocardial function. Ultrasound Doppler techniques can be used to compute tissue motion relative to a transducer. The myocardial strain rate can be computed as the localized spatial derivative of the tissue velocity. Such a strain-rate estimate is typically numerically noisy. We present the relevant speckle statistics to faciliate the computation of the strain rate based on a weighted least squares regression, with statistically appropriate weights.  相似文献

Membranes with various pore size, length, morphology and density have been synthesized from diverse materials for size-exclusion-based separation. An example is the sterilization of intravenous lines by exclusion of bacteria and viruses using polyvinylidene fluoride membranes with 0.1-microm-diameter pores. Chemically specific filtration has recently been addressed for small molecules. Nevertheless, specific bio-organism immobilization and detection remains a great technical challenge in many biomedical applications, such as decontamination or analysis of air and liquids such as drinking water and body fluids. To achieve this goal, materials with controlled pore diameter, length and surface chemistry are required. In this letter, we present the first functionalized silicon membranes and demonstrate their ability to selectively capture simulated bio-organisms. These extremely versatile and rigid devices open the door to a new class of materials that are able to recognize the external fingerprints of bio-organisms-such as size and outer membrane proteins-for specific capture and detection applications.  相似文献

The purpose of our study was to evaluate the impact of shoulder belt use on motor vehicle crash ejection, morbidity and mortality. We analyzed motor vehicle crash records linked to hospital inpatient data for front seat occupants of passenger cars in Utah between 1994 and 1996 (n = 103,035). Stochastic simulations were used to adjust for possible seatbelt misclassification. There were 276 (0.3%) occupants coded as using only a shoulder belt. The adjusted odds of ejection for shoulder only belted occupants was higher compared to lap-shoulder belted (odds ratio (OR) = 18.9; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 15.1, 25.1) and lap only belted occupants (OR = 4.3; 95% Cl = 2.9, 7.7). There was no difference in the odds of ejection for an occupant using a shoulder belt only and an occupant using no seatbelt (OR = 1.1; 95% CI = 1.0, 1.3). Occupants using a shoulder belt only were more likely to sustain a fatal or hospitalizing injury than lap-shoulder belted (OR = 2.3; 95% Cl = 1.9, 3.0), and lap only belted occupants (OR = 1.8; 95% CI = 1.3, 2.7), while controlling for other covariates. Occupants using only a shoulder belt had the same odds of a fatal or hospitalizing injury as unbelted occupants (OR = 1.1; 95% Cl = 0.9, 1.4). Average hospital inpatient length of stay, charges and injury severity scores were similar for all restraint types. These results stress the need for the use of a lap belt in conjunction with the shoulder belt.  相似文献

We describe the advantages of using diffractive (Fresnel) lenses on thin membranes over conventional optics for, among others, future space telescope projects. Fabrication methods are presented for lenses on two types of freestanding membrane up to 50 cm in size. The first is a Fresnel lens etched into a thin (380-mum) glass sheet, and the second is an ~50-mum-thick polymer membrane containing a Fresnel lens made by replication process from a specially made fused-silica master. We show optical performance analysis of all the lenses that are fabricated, including a diffraction-limited Airy spot from a 20-m- focal-length membrane lens in a diffractive telescope system.  相似文献

The effect of sublethal exposure to peroxyacetic acid (PAA) sanitizer on adaptation to peroxidative stress and development of thermal cross-resistance was investigated in Escherichia coli O157:H7. Acute sublethal PAA sanitizer exposure was used to represent a contact scenario. Cultures were grown in Trypticase soy-yeast extract broth. Acute treatment cultures were pretreated with 0.1% PAA, then all cultures were challenged at either 80 mM H202 or 54 degrees C. Acute and peroxide control cultures showed substantially increased peroxidative tolerance (D80mM > 2 h) versus negative control cultures not exposed to sanitizer (D80mM = 0.19+/-0.03 h). The inactivation rate of the acetic acid control (D80mM = 0.21+/-0.05 h) was similar to the negative control rate. Acute (D54 degrees C = 0.55+/-0.07 h) cultures did not exhibit increased thermal resistance versus the control (D54 degrees C = 0.54+/-0.07 h). Thermal injury was determined as difference in D54 degrees C value (deltaD54 degrees c) obtained on pyruvate and deoxycholate media. Thermal-induced injury was not observed in either control (deltaD54 degrees C = 0.04 h) or acute (deltaD54 degrees C = 0.05 h) cultures.  相似文献

Electrophysiological and behavioral responses of the ladybird parasitoid Dinocampus coccinellae to volatiles from the seven-spot ladybird, Coccinella septempunctata, were investigated to identify semiochemicals involved in host location. Coupled gas chromatography–electroantennography (GC-EAG) with D. coccinellae located a small peak of prominent activity in an extract of volatiles from adult C. septempunctata. The active compound was identified by coupled GC-mass spectrometry and by comparison with an authentic sample as the free-base alkaloid precoccinelline, which forms part of the toxic defense of this ladybird. Behavioral studies in an olfactometer showed that D. coccinellae was significantly attracted to the volatile extract and also to the alkaloid. Myrrhine, a stereoisomer of precoccinelline found in low amounts in C. septempunctata and in other ladybird species, was shown to be electrophysiologically active and significantly attractive. Perception of ladybird alkaloids by D. coccinellae is a rare example of toxicants acting as aerially transmitted cues for interactions between the third and fourth trophic levels.  相似文献

SF_6气体绝缘设备在运行过程中,其内部不可避免地会存在接触不良、磁饱和、磁短路等缺陷,或出现过载故障,可能导致SF_6气体绝缘设备出现局部过热性故障(POF)。在POF作用下,SF_6分解特性与设备中微量的H_2O含量关系极为密切。本文依据微量H_2O对各分解特征组分的生成影响机制,进一步研究了微量H_2O与表征POF故障属性的特征量之间的内在联系。结果表明:微量H_2O对各分解产物特征的生成量有不同程度的影响,但微量H_2O与生成各特征组分的中间产物作用的速率具有明显差异,导致了不同分解特征组分生成量与微量H_2O含量的内在关系区别显著。  相似文献
