Abstract

SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) is an attractive material for nonvolatile ferroelectric memory applications. In this paper we report on the deposition of highly epitaxial and smooth SrBi2Ta2O9 films on (110) SrTiO3substrates. The films were grown by pulsed laser deposition at temperatures ranging from 600 to 800°C and at various laser fluences from a Bi-excess SBT target. The background oxygen pressure was maintained at 28 Pa during the film deposition. Structural characterization of the films was performed by x-ray diffraction. Atomic force microscopy was used to investigate morphology and growth of the films. The films grew with preferred (115) or (116) orientation. The roughness was of the order of unit cell height. The films display a growth pattern resulting in corrugated film morphology.  相似文献

During storage and use, vegetable oil-derived industrial products such as biodiesel and biodegradable lubricants can be subjected to conditions that promote oxidation of their unsaturated components. The materials arising during oxidation and subsequent degradation can seriously impair the quality and performance of such products. Therefore, oxidative stability is a significant issue facing these vegetable oil-derived products, and enhanced understanding of the influence of various components of vegetable oils and storage parameters is necessary. In this work, the oil stability index (OSI) was used for assessing oxidation of monoalkyl esters of FA by varying several parameters. Neat fatty compounds and prepared mixtures thereof were studied for assessing the influence of compound structure and concentration. Small amounts of more highly unsaturated compounds had a disproportionately strong effect on oxidative stability. The recently developed concept of bis-allylic equivalents correlated more closely than the iodine value with the OSI times of mixtures of fatty esters. The OSI times of free acids were shorter than those of the corresponding alkyl esters. The presence of copper, iron, and nickel also reduced oxidative stability, but their effect was less than the presence of more highly unsaturated fatty compounds. Of these metals, copper had the strongest catalytic effect on OSI time. OSI may be an alternative to long-term storage tests for determining the influence of extraneous materials such as metals on oxidative stability.  相似文献

Biodiesel (fatty acid methyl esters [FAME]) is produced from various fats, oils, and greases (FOG) using catalytic transesterification with methanol. These fuels have poor cold-flow properties depending on the fatty acid (FA) composition of the parent FOG. Improving the cold-flow properties of biodiesel will enhance its prospects for use during cooler months in moderate temperature climates. This work is a study on the use of skeletally branched-chain alkyl esters (BCAE) composed of the isopropyl, n-butyl, and 2-ethylhexyl esters of iso-oleic acid isomers (iPr-iOL, nBu-iOL, and 2EH-iOL). These BCAE additives were tested in blends with linear-FAME (L-FAME) derived from soybean oil (SME), lard (LME), tallow (TME), and sewage scum grease (SGME). Binary L-FAME/SME admixtures were also studied. Admixtures were tested for the effects of the additives on cloud point (CP), pour point (PP), and kinematic viscosities at standard (ν40 = 40 °C) and low temperatures (TL) = CP + 5 °C (νL). Although the BCAE additives were more effective than SME, relatively large additive concentrations (yAdd) were needed to depress CP and PP by more than 2 °C. Admixtures with high concentrations of BCAE additive had ν40 > 6.0 mm2 s−1, the maximum limit in ASTM fuel specification D 6751. While the iPr-iOL and nBu-iOL additives may be blended at concentrations up to yAdd = 0.50, 2EH-iOL should not exceed yAdd = 0.28 in LME, 0.31 in SGME, 0.35 in TME, or 0.41 in SME to avoid driving the admixture out of specification. Some anomalies observed in the results at low yAdd for SGME/BCAE admixtures were speculated to have been affected by the low-temperature rheology of SGME.  相似文献

In this paper, a process by which experimental, or historical, data are used to create physically meaningful mathematical models is demonstrated. The procedure involves optimising the correlation between this real world data and the mathematical models using a genetic algorithm which is constrained to operate within the physics of the system. This concept is demonstrated here by creating a structural dynamic finite element model for a complete F/A-18 aircraft based on experimental data collected by shaking the aircraft when it is on the ground. The processes used for this problem are easily broken up and solved on a large number of PCs. A technique is described here by which such distributed computing can be carried out using desktop PCs within the secure computing environment of the Defence Science & Technology Organisation without compromising the PC or network security.  相似文献

Recent advances in health care psychology are noted, especially those involving the conceptualization and treatment of lifestyle and chronic health problems. The contributions to health care psychology of community psychology, brief psychological treatments, behavioral medicine, and health psychology are outlined. The central task of both organized psychology and individual psychologists is to create an underlying structure of clear boundaries and standards for clinical practice and training in health care psychology. Initially, this task should involve an inventory of Canadian psychologists currently providing health care services and the nature and amount of those services. Subsequently, a need exists for the profession to examine and create guidelines in psychological service delivery, professional role models, training, and scientific methods pertaining to general health care. The need to perform cost-effective seismic upgrades of essential facilities has made the use of nonlinear finite-element techniques an attractive option. These techniques allow for the analysis of full buildings with large, nonlinear deformations. For reinforced concrete structures, this includes concrete crushing and cracking, and steel reinforcement yielding. These nonlinear models can predict the response of buildings subjected to strong motion earthquakes with a greater degree of accuracy than simple linear or ‘quasi’ nonlinear models.  相似文献

The accuracy with which dysphoric (Study 1) and clinically depressed (Study 2) individuals make self-regulatory judgments about their own performance in the absence of external feedback and the extent to which this relates to trait self-focused attention (SFA) were examined. Relative to objective criteria, both dysphoric and depressed participants showed a positive judgment bias, overestimating the number of trials they had performed correctly. Relative to control participants, the dysphoric and depressed groups showed a reduction in the extent of this positive bias in that they judged error trials more accurately and correct trials less accurately. Although the dysphoric and depressed groups both reported elevated trait SFA, this did not correlate significantly with accuracy of self-judgment on the performance-monitoring task. With the arrival of GPS, satellite remote sensing, and personal computers, the last two decades have witnessed rapid advances in the field of spatially-explicit marine ecological modeling. But with this innovation has come complexity. To keep up, ecologists must master multiple specialized software packages, such as ArcGIS for display and manipulation of geospatial data, R for statistical analysis, and MATLAB for matrix processing. This requires a costly investment of time and energy learning computer programming, a high hurdle for many ecologists. To provide easier access to advanced analytic methods, we developed Marine Geospatial Ecology Tools (MGET), an extensible collection of powerful, easy-to-use, open-source geoprocessing tools that ecologists can invoke from ArcGIS without resorting to computer programming. Internally, MGET integrates Python, R, MATLAB, and C++, bringing the power of these specialized platforms to tool developers without requiring developers to orchestrate the interoperability between them.In this paper, we describe MGET’s software architecture and the tools in the collection. Next, we present an example application: a habitat model for Atlantic spotted dolphin (Stenella frontalis) that predicts dolphin presence using a statistical model fitted with oceanographic predictor variables. We conclude by discussing the lessons we learned engineering a highly integrated tool framework.  相似文献
