The viscoelastic properties of the human and canine pharyngeal tissue in tension were evaluated, based on both an experimental protocol-consisting of cyclic load, tensile stress relaxation, and incremental step load tests-and the quasi-linear viscoelastic theory. The reduced stress relaxation function and the elastic response of the pharyngeal tissues were derived from the experimental results specifically obtained from those tissues. The characteristic features of viscoelastic property were obtained for both human and canine pharyngeal tissues by applying the quasi-linear viscoelastic theory and compared with each other. The material properties of the pharyngeal tissue were sought to facilitate the three-dimensional biomechanical model of the pharyngeal function by using the finite element method.  相似文献

Mammalian 'regulators of G protein signaling' (RGS proteins) help shut off G-protein-mediated signaling by GTPase activation. We describe a 60-year-old woman with leg pain. Although metastatic bone tumor and atypical cells mimicking signet-ring cells in the bone marrow picture were observed, systemic survey revealed no primary lesion. The patient died two months after admission from systemic progress of the disease. Autopsy revealed a small focus of adenocarcinoma within the right upper lobe of the lung and systemic metastases without any particular changes in the gastrointestinal tract. The tumor cells of the lung were diffusely positive for cytokeratin 7, whereas cytokeratin 20 immunoreactivity was weak and focal, and that supported the lung origin of the present tumor. Moreover, the tumor cells in the bone marrow showed a similar pattern in immunoreactivity. These findings suggest that cytokeratin 7 and cytokeratin 20 immunoreactivity is helpful for the premortem diagnosis of the metastatic tumor of unknown origin.  相似文献

Alpha 2 adrenergic receptors are thought to play a crucial role in the etiology or treatment of mood disorders. Polymorphism(s) in the promoter region of the alpha 2 receptor may affect the gene expression and be associated with mood disorders. We studied the previously reported polymorphisms of the alpha 2A receptor gene at position-1291 in 114 healthy controls and 103 mood disorder patients. There was statistically no difference between controls and patients in either the genotype or the allele frequency. There was statistically no difference between the genotype and the clinical characteristics. Our results suggest there is no association between this polymorphism in the promoter region of the alpha 2A receptor gene and mood disorders.  相似文献

Based on the equilibrium configuration paths, this study investigates the postbuckling behaviour, including the shape recovery capability, of stainless steel (SUS304) columns after a complete loading-unloading cycle. Experiments were conducted and later numerical simulation was carried out in order to analyze the observed buckling and postbuckling behaviour. Large deflection analysis is necessary for slender columns. Moreover, comparison of the experimental critical load with analytical predictions verifies the fact that physical nonlinearity should be taken into account to analyze the column’s buckling behaviour comprehensively. Thus, based on large deflection theory as well as the nonlinear stress-strain relations, the load-deformation curves of the columns during a complete loading-unloading cycle have been predicted by using the finite element modelling (FEM) code ANSYS.Precise and quantitative analyses of the results verify the fact that the material’s stress-strain properties, both in tension and compression, attribute to the column’s buckling behaviour.  相似文献

Zinc oxide (ZnO)/silica (SiO2) composite nanoparticles were made by flame spray pyrolysis. The effects of the Zn/Si ratio on particle properties were examined and compared with those of the pure ZnO and SiO2 particles made at the same conditions. Polyhedral aggregates of nano-sized primary particles were obtained in all experiments. The mixed-oxide primary particle size was smaller than that of pure oxides. The primary particles consisted of ZnO nano-crystals and amorphous SiO2, as seen by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis using the fundamental parameter approach. The XRD size of ZnO was controlled from 1.2 to 11.3 nm by the initial precursor composition and it was consistent with HR-TEM. The composite particles exhibited an excellent thermal stability and little crystalline growth of ZnO (e.g., from 1.9 to 2.2 nm) was observed even after calcination at 600°C.  相似文献

Inward rectifier K+ channels control the cell's membrane potential and neuronal excitability. We report that the IRK3 but not the IRK1 inward rectifier K+ channel activity is inhibited by m1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor. This m1 modulation cannot be accounted for by protein kinase C, Ca2+, or channel phosphorylation, but can be mimicked by Mg2+. Based on quantitative analyses of IRK3 and two different IRK1 mutant channels bestowed with sensitivity to m1 modulation, we suggest that the resting Mg2+ level causes chronic inhibition of IRK3 channels, and m1 receptor stimulation may lead to an increase of cytoplasmic Mg2+ concentration and further channel inhibition, due to the ability of Mg2+ to lead these channels into a prolonged inactivated state.  相似文献

 Simultaneous optimization with respect to the structural topology, actuator locations and control parameters of an actively controlled plate structure is investigated in this paper. The system consists of a clamped-free plate, a H 2 controller and four surface-bonded piezoelectric actuators utilized for suppressing the bending and torsional vibrations induced by external disturbances. The plate is represented by a rectangular design domain which is discretized by a regular finite element mesh and for each element the parameter indicating the presence or absence of material is used as a topology design variable. Due to the unavailability of large-scale 0–1 optimization algorithms, the binary variables of the original topology design problem are relaxed so that they can take all values between 0 and 1. The popular techniques in the topology optimization area including penalization, filtering and perimeter restriction are also used to suppress numerical problems such as intermediate thickness, checkerboards, and mesh dependence. Moreover, since it is not efficient to treat the structural and control design variables equally within the same framework, a nested solving approach is adopted in which the controller syntheses are considered as sub processes included in the main optimization process dealing with the structural topology and actuator locations. The structural and actuator variables are solved in the main optimization by the method of moving asymptotes, while the control parameters are designed in the sub optimization processes by solving the Ricatti equations. Numerical examples show that the approach used in this paper can produce systems with clear structural topology and high control performance.
