Properties of recycled high density polyethylene from milk bottles

The effect of virgin, high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/recycled HDPE composition on the physical properties of the blends was investigated. The recycled HDPE was obtained from a postconsumer cycle of milk bottles. It was found that elongation at break was the mechanical property mostly affected by the content of recycled HDPE. Overall, however, the recycled HDPE from milk bottles was found to be a material with useful properties not largely different from those of virgin resin and thus could be used, at an appropriate concentration in virgin HDPE, for different applications.     

Moisture Distribution and Dewatering Efficiency for Wet Materials

This review paper summarizes current research efforts toward a comprehensive view of wet material dewatering, considering the binding energy as the strength to hold water, and rupture energy given to remove moisture from materials.     

应用免疫斑点法检测不同工艺灭活的乙肝血源疫苗中的前S_1和S_2蛋白

作者应用前 S_1、前 S_2和 HBsAg/a 单克隆抗体,用免疫斑点法(Immuno-spot)检测同一批的乙肝表面抗原分别经加热灭活和三步化学灭活后的前 S_1和前 S_2蛋白保留情况,比较了两种工艺对前 S_1和前 S_2蛋白的影响。结果表明;加热灭活可保留前 S_1和前 S_2蛋白,三步化学灭活使前 S_1和前 S_2蛋白丢失,从抗原组成上看,加热灭活后的抗原更接近自然抗原。首次报告了含有前 S_1蛋白的乙肝疫苗,并对前 S_1和前 S_2蛋白在乙肝血源疫苗中的可能作用进行了讨论。     

Thermotropic polyester carbonates. III. Thermotropic polyester carbonates as self-reinforced plastics

Thermotropic polyester carbonates derived from t-butylhydroquinone, methylhydroquinone, diphenyl terephthalate, and diphenyl carbonate in the molar ratio of 50 : 50 : 55 : 45; 50 : 50 : 57.5 : 5 : 42.5 and 50 : 50 : 60 : 40 can be injection molded successfully from temperatures 10°C below melting to 30–40°C above melting. Normally the best molding temperatures are 10–20°C above melting. If the molding conditions are controlled properly, tensile strengths as high as 1.8 × 10⁴ psi, tensile moduli as high as 7.4 × 10⁵ psi, and flex moduli as high as 1.1 × 10⁶ psi can be obtained.     

基于VB的球面网壳施工控制系统设计

根据球面网壳的施工特点,采用VB6.0编制了球面网壳施工控制系统。根据系统的数据特点,采用MicrosoftExcel作为数据库。使用OLE控件调用AutoCAD软件,绘制三维结构模型图。使用Image控件和Line控件设计工具栏。系统根据施工误差对施工时可能出现的问题进行预警,有利于提高球面网壳的施工质量。     

Spherical Aluminum Nitride Fillers for Heat-Conducting Plastic Packages

It is necessary for encapsulants to have not only a suitable coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) compatible to IC devices and a low dielectric constant to reduce the device propagation delay, but also a high thermal conductivity to dissipate large amounts of heat from power-hungry, high-speed IC and high-density packages. Fillers such as silica have been mixed with polymers to improve their properties. Aluminum nitride (AlN) is considered as an alternative one, because it has a higher theoretical thermal conductivity of ∼320 W/mK¹, a compatible CTE with silicon chips and a low dielectric constant. Commercial AlN fillers are angular in shape, because they are prepared via grinding coarse AlN powders synthesized by direct nitridation of aluminum metal and classification. The angular AlN are not expected to have high fluidity when mixed with polymers and hence low packing density. Recently, we successfully obtained single-crystalline spherical AlN fillers. Furthermore, polymer composites filled with the spherical AlN showed excellent thermal conductivity (>8 W/mK) as encapsulants for dissipating the heat generated in electronic devices.

Factors influencing magnetic polymer microspheres prepared by dispersion polymerization

Magnetic iron oxide (Fe₃O₄) was prepared by a coprecipitation method. Core–shell composite magnetic polymer microspheres with carboxyl groups were synthesized by the dispersion polymerization of styrene and acrylic acid in the presence of magnetic oxide, and dibenzoyl peroxide was used as an initiator. The synthesized magnetic polymer microspheres were characterized with X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and so forth. The results indicated that the product was single‐phase Fe₃O₄, and its average size was about 10 nm. The configuration of the microspheres, which contained carboxyl groups, was spherical, and the average size was about 2 μm. The results of vibrating sample magnetometry tests showed that the magnetic powders produced by different surfactants had different saturation magnetizations. When poly(ethylene glycol) with a weight‐average molecular weight of 4000 was used as a surfactant, the saturation magnetization of the samples reached 69.2 emu/g. The factors that affected the shape, magnetism, size, and distribution of the microspheres were also studied. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 2007     

TWO KINDS OF VARIANT IN SHAPE MEMORY MATERIAL

In shape memory materials,that have been trained to have a two way shape memory effect(TWSM),themartensitic variants are classified into two groups,i.e.,preferentially oriented variants and self-accommodatingvariants.Applied stress may promote or constrain the transition of preferentially oriented variants and so changetransformation temperatures but has no essential effect on self-accommodating variants.According to the pointof view mentioned above,some experimental phenomena during thermocycling of a TWSM device may be ex-plained,such as the absence of synchronization between the plot of resistance change.temperature and the plotof memory strain vs.temperature.
