The aims of this work were (a) to select the minimum concentrations of two bacteriocin-producing lactobacilli strains to reduce Listeria monocytogenes growth in whole milk, (b) to evaluate the individual and combined application of these chosen lactobacilli concentrations as protective culture in this food and, (c) to estimate if lactobacilli growth caused undesirable changes in the visible characteristics of milk. The selected minimum lactobacilli concentration with antilisterial activity was 106 CFU ml−1 for both lactobacilli. Although a high initial concentration of L. monocytogenes (104 CFU ml−1) was added to milk, a notable reduction on listerial counts (2–4 log CFU ml−1) was achieved in comparison to the control. These lactobacilli showed a good adaptability in milk reaching optimal counts and not causing undesirable visible changes. In conclusion, the use of these lactobacilli could be considered as a bio-strategy potentially effective to limit the contamination by L. monocytogenes in certain milk-derived products.  相似文献

The energy conservation of grating diffraction is analyzed in a particular condition of incidence in which two incident waves reach a symmetrical grating from the two sides of the grating normal at the first-order Littrow mounting. In such a situation the incident waves generate an interference pattern with the same period as the grating. Thus in each direction of diffraction, interference occurs between two consecutive diffractive orders of the symmetrical incident waves. By applying only energy conservation and the geometrical symmetry of the grating profile to this problem it is possible to establish a general constraint for the phases and amplitudes of the diffracted orders of the same incident wave. Experimental and theoretical results are presented confirming the obtained relations.  相似文献

Trypanosoma rangeli and T. cruzi are both parasitic unicellular species that infect humans. Unlike T. cruzi,the causative agent of Chagas disease, T. rangeli is an infective and non-pathogenic parasite for humans, but pathogenicfor vectors from the Rhodnius genus. Because both species can coexist in different hosts and overlap their infectivecycles but very little is known about the infection of T. rangeli in mammalian cells, we decided to characterize both thedevelopment of this parasite in cell culture and the effect of therapeutic agents with potential trypanocidal action onit. We found that T. rangeli exhibits a cycle of infection in Vero cells similar to that for T. cruzi and that the repurposeddrug, 17-AAG, and the natural extract Artemisia sp. essential oil produce a toxic effect on epimastigotes showinga trypanocidal action from the fifth day of culture. Both treatments also affected the infection of trypomastigotesand reduced the capacity of replication of amastigotes of T. rangeli. Since T. cruzi / T. rangeli coinfection cases havebeen reported, the finding of drugs with potential activity against both species could be significant in the future.Furthermore, studies of susceptibility of both species to drugs could also help to know the different mechanisms ofpathogenicity in humans displayed by T. cruzi that are absent in T. rangeli  相似文献

Low-grade inflammation of the hypothalamus is associated with the disturbance of energy balance. The endocannabinoid system has been implicated in the development and maintenance of obesity as well as in the control of immune responses. The type 2 cannabinoid receptor (CB2) signaling has been associated with anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, in high fat diet (HFD)-induced obese mice, we modulated CB2 signaling and investigated its effects on energy homeostasis and hypothalamic microgliosis/astrogliosis. We observed no effect on caloric intake and body weight gain in control diet-fed animals that received prolonged icv infusion of the CB2 receptor agonist HU308. Interestingly, we observed a decrease in glucose tolerance in HFD-fed animals treated with HU308. Prolonged icv infusion of HU308 increases astrogliosis in the ventromedial nucleus (VMH) of obese animals and reduced HFD-induced microgliosis in the hypothalamic arcuate (ARC) but not in the paraventricular (PVN) or VMH nuclei. These data indicate that central CB2 signaling modulates glucose homeostasis and glial reactivity in obesogenic conditions, irrespective of changes in body weight.  相似文献

The electrochemical behavior of mangiferin (MGN), a natural antioxidant compound, is examined using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry in a protic medium on a glassy carbon electrode. The voltammograms exhibit a single irreversible pH-dependent anodic wave with current controlled by adsorption.Complexes of MGN with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were prepared and their formation was confirmed by UV-vis spectroscopy and electrochemical experiments, using a self-assembled monolayer of cyclodextrin on a gold electrode. The association constant of MGN:β-CD complexes was estimated by the Benesi-Hildebrand method, based on the spectrophotometric quantification of free β-CD and by the direct method using cyclic voltammetry and the Langmuir isotherm.PM IRRAS experiments corroborated the inclusion process based on the observation of the corresponding peaks in the spectra of the samples.MGN was quantified using a simple electrochemical method based on a β-CD incorporated carbon nanotube (CNT)-modified electrode (β-CDCNT). The presence of β-CD led to a 10-fold lower detection limit than that obtained with a CNT-modified electrode.  相似文献

Considering the increased interest of stakeholders in climate change and a low-carbon economy, this article has investigated and identified several contributions of the ISO 50001 in support of the adoption of green supply chain management (GSCM). In this context, energy efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions are critical. Therefore, the proposal for and the requirements of ISO 50001 can generate useful insights on how to structure green and low-carbon supply chains, hence helping to address the challenges posed by climate change.  相似文献

Sieves are membranes with a regular array of uniform pores that present low flow resistance. Because of such characteristics they are promising devices for filtration, separation of particles by size and drug delivery control systems. In this paper, we propose and demonstrated the use of a soft lithography process for fabrication of biodegradable sieves in PLLA (poly-l-lactide) with pores in the scale of hundred of nanometers. The fabrication process is suitable for mass production and submicrometric pore diameters can be fabricated with homogeneity of about 15%. The PLLA self sustained sieve can be integrated to PLLA capsules, compounding a drug delivery systems or implants.  相似文献

This paper reviewed 24 studies of parent involvement for school-aged children conducted between 1980 and 2002 and evaluated them according to the criteria developed by the Task Force on Evidence-Based Interventions in School Psychology. The parent involvement component of all studies had parents helping children learn at home, with most targeting a change in academic performance, including reading skills, mathematics skills, spelling, and homework completion. Results yielded a wide range of treatment effectiveness. The strongest evidence for parent involvement was provided for programs that implemented parent tutoring in the home and targeted a single academic problem of the elementary school-aged child, primarily reading and mathematics skills. Despite promising evidence for the effectiveness of parent home tutoring, it was concluded that the evidence base for the effectiveness of parent involvement as an intervention for children's academic problems is inconclusive due to methodological weaknesses in the studies reviewed. We propose an emotional and social interaction paradigm for the behavioural animation of virtual characters. Our research focuses on the production of verbal and paraverbal interactions between a human and a virtual character in the context of virtual therapy. The aim of this project is to assess virtual therapies for the rehabilitation of people with brain injuries caused by cerebral vascular accidents. The therapeutic paradigm is based on the neuroscience concept of “mirror neurones” which emphasise the perceptual side in the process of recovering neural damage. In our paradigm, the patient interacts with a virtual therapist (embodied autonomous agent) that guides and encourages him in order to fulfil the drills. Furthermore and following the “mirror neurone paradigm”, the patient can only see his virtual hands (which are handicapped). The virtual platform provides the patient with a vision of his hands undertaking a movement that he cannot perform. Doing so, we expect that the perception of this virtual movement may improve the recuperation (mirror neurone paradigm). In this paper, we also introduce the notion of an “intelligent emotional character” to produce a sense of social as well as emotional immersion in order to improve the interaction between the patient and the virtual therapist. We discuss the role of emotional interaction in the context of virtual social interaction and in particular its reflexive dimension. Finally, we present an architecture for the animation of virtual characters based on a multidisciplinary approach to model the emotional and social interaction.  相似文献
