Data on long-cavity 100-μm-wide broad-stripe laser diodes that lase with a barrow single-lobed far-field pattern in continuous room-temperature operation are presented. Diodes with a cavity length of 1250 μm emit a power of 200 mW per facet into a 2.5° lobe (full width at half maximum). Short-cavity devices (cavity length of 350 μm) lase with a continuously increasing number of lateral modes right from threshold, and exhibit a far-field divergence that is over three times greater than that of 1250-μm diodes. Explanations for the effect of increasing cavity length on the field patterns of these devices are proposed, based on the measured increase in injected carrier diffusion length in long-cavity diodes and the influence of thermal waveguiding and mirror losses on intermodel discrimination  相似文献

Numerical techniques for the solution of a class of twodimensional Markov processes are presented. These techniques are used to analyze the performance of several versions of hybrid switching including the movable boundary scheme with finite or infinite buffers, with flow control, and with or without TASI. Also included are results for TASI in which the number of off-hook calls is not fixed. Finally, the accuracy of the quasi-static approximation is evaluated for several problems.  相似文献

We have assembled and characterized a multimode optoelectronic oscillator with integrated optical filter for detecting low-power radio-frequency (RF) signals. The system can selectively amplify RF signals from 1 to 6 GHz. The input signals can be as low as $-$ 83 dBm with a compression dynamic range of 72 dB. Using an integrated silicon optical filter facilitates channelization of the amplified RF signal from 1 to 3 GHz by reducing the gain for signals above 3 GHz. Electrical characterization of evaporated ZnS:Mn alternating-current thin-film electroluminescent (ACTFEL) devices is accomplished by capacitance-voltage (C-V) analysis. Interpretation of these C-V characteristics is aided by SPICE modeling and by electrical characterization of an ideal ACTFEL device constructed from discrete components, based on a simple equivalent circuit for the ACTFEL device. ZnS has been grown on GaAs(100) substrates by atmospheric pressure metal–organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) using dimethylzinc (DMZn) and t-butyl mercaptan (t-BuSH). The effects of the reactant gas phase molar ratio and the growth temperature on the characteristics of the material grown have been investigated. The structural quality of the layer is demonstrated by X-ray rocking curve half-widths of less than 300 arcsec for the epilayers. There is little significant pre-reaction and the layers are of excellent surface morphology and layer uniformity.  相似文献

We report an effective new method of realizing optical bend sensing based on the measurement of bending-curvature encoded resonance mode splitting of long-period fiber grating. The bending induced mode splitting exhibits a near-linear response and the bending sensitivity achieved by this method is nearly four times higher than the previously reported wavelength shift detection method. We report the fabrication and characterization of wide-band Fabry-Perot-like resonators in optical fiber. Using Bragg gratings with variable detuning, resonators that operate ever a wavelength span in excess of 140 nm have been produced, with free spectral ranges between 0.09 nm and 11.27 nm. Numerical and experimental results for two typical resonators are presented, showing good agreement between the two  相似文献
