Elastic properties of chemically derived single graphene sheets   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
The elastic modulus of freely suspended graphene monolayers, obtained via chemical reduction of graphene oxide, was determined through tip-induced deformation experiments. Despite their defect content, the single sheets exhibit an extraordinary stiffness ( E = 0.25 TPa) approaching that of pristine graphene, as well as a high flexibility which enables them to bend easily in their elastic regime. Built-in tensions are found to be significantly lower compared to mechanically exfoliated graphene. The high resilience of the sheets is demonstrated by their unaltered electrical conductivity after multiple deformations. The electrical conductivity of the sheets scales inversely with the elastic modulus, pointing toward a 2-fold role of the oxygen bridges, that is, to impart a bond reinforcement while at the same time impeding the charge transport.  相似文献

We report a comparative study on the 2D self-assembly of two related ditopic benzoic acid species, which have similar shape and endgroups but different backbone symmetry. High-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy data reveal how the symmetry information of molecular building blocks is readily expressed in the resulting chiral or nonchiral supramolecular networks. The underlying square Cu(100) surface steers network orientation and accounts for carboxylate formation, resulting in an unusual intermolecular hydrogen bond motif. Our results demonstrate that symmetry and chiral resolution in 2D supramolecular assembly can be controlled via the design of functional molecules and choice of substrate.  相似文献

The Effect of Different Test Frequencies on the Lifetime of Spot-Welded Joints In general lifetime prediction of welded joints is basing on S-N-curves where the influence of the variation of the S-N-curve is not taken into consideration. Moreover, it is not possible to specify the valid frequency range for the endurance limit of spot-welded joints. The test frequency defines the load velocity as a function of the phase relation of the strength. At the same time, the strength properties of the base material, the HAZ and the weld nugget are affected by load velocity. This means that the endurance limit of spot-welded joints is a function of the test frequency. This correlation was confirmed with tests on spot-welded deep-drawing sheets of R St 1403 (similar to AISI C 1008). In the report test results and the different fracture mechanisms are presented.  相似文献

The importance of the fatty acid industry today is reflected by the estimated 1978 production in the U.S. of 956 M lbs., exclusive of tall oil fatty acids. The 1978 U.S. production of various fatty acids as reported monthly and annually by the FAPC of SDA, is broken down into 9 saturated categories, and 5 unsaturated categories, as follows: (1) stearic and 127.2 M lbs. (13.3%); (2) hydrogenated animal and vegetable acids (2a) 97.3 M lbs. (10.2%), (2b) 158 M lbs. (16.5%), (2c) 32 M lbs. (3.4%); (3) high palmitic, 14.6 M lbs. (1.5%); (4) hydrogenated fish, 6.5 M lbs. (0.7%); (5) lauric acid types, 88.8 M lbs. (9.3%); (6) fractionated fatty acids, (6a) C10 or lower, 18.5 M lbs. (1.9%), (6b) C12 and C14 55% 17 M lbs. (1.9%); (7) oleic acid, 158.3 M lbs. (16.6%); (8) animal fatty acids other than oleic, 156.3 M lbs. (16.3%); (9) vegetable or marine fatty acids, 0.1 M lbs. (less than 1%); (10) unsaturated fatty acids, 57 M lbs. (6.0%); (11) unsaturated fatty acids I.V. over 130, 24.2 M lbs (2.5%). Reported 1977 fatty acid derivative production from fatty acids (not fats and oils) is 1,980 M lbs. Howler monkeys, Alouatta spp., are the most folivorous of neotropical primates (Platyrrhini), although Amazonian red-handed howlers (Alouatta belzebul) are relatively frugivorous. The feeding ecology of a free-ranging group of A. belzebul was monitored at a site in eastern Brazilian Amazonia over a ten-month period (November 1997 to August 1998). The first half of the study period encompassed the peak of the wet season, during which the study group's diet was predominantly frugivorous (scan sample records: 53.5% fruit, 40.8% leaves), and the second half, the transition from wet to dry season, characterized by a marked shift to folivory (18.9% fruit, 77.9% leaves). This shift was accompanied by a marked increase in mature, as opposed to flush leaves, which are relatively rich in secondary compounds. Ingestion of soil from termitaria was recorded on a total of 26 occasions, all of which occurred during the second half of the study period. Soil from termitaria was relatively rich in elements such as Ca and Na and in organic carbon, in comparison with that from the forest floor. The extent to which the monkeys ingested soil for their mineral supplements, or as an aid for the digestion of leaves, in particular the absorption of secondary compounds, remains unclear. The marked correlation with the observed patterns of folivory suggests that the latter function may have been the primary motive for geophagy in this species.  相似文献

In an attempt to reduce patient positioning errors, the authors tested the use of a new hip-specific positioning tool, OsteoDyne's Hip Positioner System (HPS). The HPS is an "A" frame splint designed to abduct both legs approximately 15 degrees to hold them in full extension at the hips and knees and to lock the feet in a neutral position. Seventy volunteer women aged 35-82 years were randomly assigned in two age-matched groups (mean age 56 years). Each group underwent two consecutive femur dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans with intermediate repositioning using the HPS system and two others utilizing the standard hip positioner provided with Hologic and Lunar scanners. One technician performed all scans using a Hologic QDR 1000-Plus and Lunar DPX-Plus densitometer. One hundred and fifty volunteer women aged 50-84 years (mean age, 64 years) were recruited in a multicenter study for the assessment of precision. Each subject underwent three consecutive femur DXA scans with intermediate repositioning using the HPS system. The coefficient of variation (CV) was significantly improved at the femoral neck by the use of the HPS with 0.7 versus 1.2 with the Hologic densitometer but only moderately altered at other sites. Similar results were found with the Lunar densitometer with improvement of precision at the femoral neck, 0.8 versus 1.8 with a similar trend but no significant difference at the other regions. No statistical difference was noted between the femoral neck BMD measured with the HPS system and with the standard positioners in either group. The mean precision of data obtained on the QDR 1000+ was 0.8% (range 0.1-1.4) for the femoral neck BMD, 1.1% (range 0.1-3.0) for the trochanter BMD, 2.3% (range 0.2-5.2) for Ward's triangle BMD, and 0.8% (range 0.1-1.9) for the total femur BMD. The mean precision of data obtained on the QDR 2000 was 0.7% (range 0.1-2), 1% (range 0.1-4.9), 2.6% (range 0.3-5.7), and 0.7% (range 0.1-1.8), respectively. In conclusion, data obtained with the new OsteoDyne's HPS seem capable of reducing patient positioning errors for the hip measurement. Its use is likely to improve confidence in hip bone mineral density measurements.  相似文献
