Core-conductor models, used to integrate the behavior of the longitudinal currents with the distributed voltages of electrically active tissue, have evolved for over a century. A critical step in the use of such models is the computation of membrane current from the set of distributed transmembrane potential values that exist at a given moment, where the potentials are obtained either experimentally or computationally. Over time, interest has developed in a number of substantial extensions of the original model to include such features as nonuniform spatial resistances, loop instead of linear structure, and multiple sites of extracellular stimulation. This paper concisely restates and extends the equations for calculation of transmembrane currents with the systematic inclusion of alternative cases, noting how they reduce to the standard forms. An important issue is how complex the calculation of membrane current has to be. Thus, the paper goes on to show criteria (based on the uniformity of resistance and the presence of stimulation) for deciding when membrane currents can be obtained with a relatively simple calculation with a single equation involving local variables versus with a more complex calculation involving the simultaneous solution of a (possibly large) set of equations.  相似文献

We describe a design for a 120-keV, 2.3-MW,3He neutral beam injector for use on a D-3He fusion reactor. The constraint that limits operating life when injecting He is its high sputtering rate. The sputtering is partly controlled by using an extra grid to prevent ion flow from the neutralizer duct to the electron suppressor grid, but a tradeoff between beam current and operating life is still required. Hollow grid wires functioning as mercury heat pipes cool the grid and enable steady state operation. Voltage holding and radiation effects on the acceleration grid structure are discussed. We also briefly describe the vacuum system and analyze use of a direct energy converter to recapture energy from unneutralized ions exiting the neutralizer. Of crucial importance to the technical feasibility of the3He-burning reactor are the injector efficiency and cost; these are 53% and $5.5 million, respectively, when power supplies are included.The beam is composed of 91 separate, parallel currents that flow in the gaps between the elements or wires of a grid. Each such flow is referred to as a beamlet. The current densities in Figs. 5, 8, and 9 are values within a beamlet, as measured at the beam-forming grid. They are not values averaged over the entire beam cross-section.  相似文献

Acute nonoliguric renal failure developed in a 13-year-old girl, 1 month after the institution of isoniazid therapy because of a positive tuberculin test at school screening. A renal biopsy demonstrated severe crescentic glomerulonephritis with focal interstitial changes. Discontinuation of isoniazid and a short course of steroids and cyclophosphamide therapy were followed by complete recovery. Whereas isoniazid has been shown to induce a lupus-like syndrome and antihistone antinuclear antibodies, our patient displayed none of the clinical or immunological features that are characteristic of drug-induced lupus. Furthermore, none of the identifiable causes for crescentic glomerulonephritis was evident in this girl. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report suggesting a possible association of crescentic glomerulonephritis to isoniazid treatment.  相似文献

To determine the adherence to relaxation practice, 23 hypertensive patients receiving relaxation training were given tape recorders designed to measure when a relaxation tape was used and were told to listen to the tape five or more times a week. The mean frequency of practice per week as measured by computers was 4.6; 39% of subjects adhered to instructions. Mean frequency of practice by self-report was 5.9; 71% of subjects adhered to instructions. Microprocessor-monitored and self-reported practice were significantly correlated. There was no significant correlation between either microprocessor or self-reported practice and systolic or diastolic blood pressure reductions. Recently, we developed a technique that allows semi-automatic estimation of anthropometry and pose from a single image. However, estimation was limited to a class of images for which an adequate number of human body segments were almost parallel to the image plane. In this paper, we present a generalization of that estimation algorithm that exploits pairwise geometric relationships of body segments to allow estimation from a broader class of images. In addition, we refine our search space by constructing a fully populated discrete hyper-ellipsoid of stick human body models in order to capture the variance of the statistical anthropometric information. As a result, a better initial estimate can be computed by our algorithm and thus the number of iterations needed during minimization are reduced tenfold. This paper presents a Web 2.0 Learning Environment, for a systematic creation of adaptive and intelligent tutoring systems. Authoring contents is made by a community of users including teachers and students. The tutoring systems adapt the contents according to the best learning style using self-organizing maps (SOMs). The SOM was trained for classifying Felder–Silverman learning styles. The most important advantage of these unsupervised neural networks is that they do not require an external teacher for presenting a training set. The approach was implemented under an authoring tool that allows the production of personalized learning material to be used under collaborative and mobile learning environments. The tutoring systems together with the neural network can also be exported to mobile devices. We present different results to the approach working under the authoring tool.  相似文献
