Reports 4 experiments with a total of 20 male Long-Evans hooded rats describing the effects of cholinergic blockade produced by systemic injection of either atropine sulfate or atropine methyl nitrate on Ss' differential reinforcement of low rate (DRL) responding. It was shown that atropine sulfate injected either chronically or at high dosages suppressed DRL responding. Injected acutely, atropine sulfate produced disinhibitory effects. When atropine was injected either chronically or acutely into Ss with septal lesions, there was suppression of responding. It is suggested that the specific behavioral outcome resulting from cholinergic blockade depends on the balance resulting from the competing peripheral and central effects of such blockade. Experimental data on space-charge dissipation due to gas effects has been obtained using electron pulses from an accelerator injected directly through a thin film and a metal screen into a small experiment chamber. The current transmitted across the chamber was measured as a function of gas pressure, gas composition, chamber depth, and electron collector impedance. The measurements generally confirm the theory developed by dePlomb in a companion paper at this conference. Several problem areas are noted that require further investigation.  相似文献

The magnetic and crystallographic measurements were carried on the (Ga1?xZnx)Mn3C solid solutions as a function of temperature from 4, 2K to 320K. The first order and second order magnetic transformations have been observed as a function of the composition in this metallic perovskites. We previously reported a HPLC assay method using fluorimetric detection for the simultaneous determination of urinary N2-(3-aminopropyl)biopterin (oncopterin, a natural pteridine newly found in urine from cancer patients), biopterin and neopterin. We now have observed that an unknown substance, which may be derived from methotrexate, in urine from a patient with stomach cancer interfered with the assay of oncopterin and demonstrated that oncopterin could be completely separated from the unidentified substance by HPLC using a Nucleosil 100-5SA strong cation-exchange column. Furthermore, oncopterin was not detectable by this HPLC-fluorimetric method in urine samples from patients with stomach cancer who were not treated with methotrexate. The content of urinary oncopterin from cancer patients is supposed to be very low, with less than 1 mumol/mol creatinine. The present results indicate that the peak found with elution from the C18 column was a methotrexate-derived compound and co-eluted with the analyte oncopterin.  相似文献

Distinct lipid compositions of intracellular organelles could provide a physical basis for targeting of membrane proteins, particularly where transmembrane domains have been shown to play a role. We tested the possibility that cholesterol is required for targeting of membrane proteins to the Golgi complex. We used insect cells for our studies because they are cholesterol auxotrophs and can be depleted of cholesterol by growth in delipidated serum. We found that two well-characterized mammalian Golgi proteins were targeted to the Golgi region of Aedes albopictus cells, both in the presence and absence of cellular cholesterol. Our results imply that a cholesterol gradient through the secretory pathway is not required for membrane protein targeting to the Golgi complex, at least in insect cells.  相似文献
