Temperature profiles in the source/drain (S/D) opening of a single finger AlGaN-GaN heterostructure field-effect transistor were studied at increasing S/D voltages by micro-Raman spectroscopy with <1 /spl mu/m spatial resolution. These profiles imply high field regions near the gate edge of length /spl sim/0.4 /spl mu/m for S/D voltages between 45 and 75 V. Electric field strengths of /spl sim/1.2 and /spl sim/1.9 MV/cm are estimated for 45 and 75 V S/D voltage. The experimental results are in excellent agreement with 2-D Monte Carlo simulations. 相似文献

In this paper, an experimental mixed reality using a multimodal approach is introduced which lets users play characters in interactive narratives as though acting on a stage. Users interact with characters through speech, attitude, and gesture, enhancing their immersion in the virtual world. This system provides a small-scale but complete integration of multimodal communication in interactive storytelling. It uses a narrative's semantic context to focus multimodal input processing-that is, the system interprets users' acting (the multimodal input) in the mixed reality stage in terms of narrative functions representing users' contributions to the unfolding plot. 相似文献

Freestanding silicon nanocrystals (Si‐ncs) offer unique optical and electronic properties for new photovoltaic, thermoelectric, and other electronic devices. A method to fabricate Si‐ncs which is scalable to industrial usage has been developed in recent years. However, barriers to the widespread utilization of these nanocrystals are the presence of charge‐trapping defects and an oxide shell formed upon ambient atmosphere exposure hindering the charge transport. Here, we exploit low‐cost post‐growth treatment routes based on wet‐etching in hydrofluoric acid plus surface hydrosilylation or annealing enabling a complete native oxide removal and a reduction of the defect density by up to two orders of magnitude. Moreover, when compared with only H‐terminated Si‐ncs we report an enhancement of the conductivity by up to a factor of 400 for films of HF etched and annealed Si‐ncs, which retain a defect density below that of untreated Si‐ncs even after several months of air exposure. Further, we demonstrate that HF etched and hydrosilylated Si‐ncs are extremely stable against oxidation and maintain a very low defect density after a long‐term storage in air, opening the possibility of device processing in ambient atmosphere. 相似文献

Control of the emission wavelength of a random laser (RL) system over a 7-nm waveband is demonstrated using a green-emitting π-conjugated polymer infiltrated into a photonic glass formed by nano/micro-size monodisperse silica spheres. The use of a solution-based conjugated polymer enables the complete filling of the voids within the photonic glass without suffering from quenching and the gain can therefore be maximized. The emission wavelength of these structures is set by a combination of the material system spectral gain and of the transport mean free path, the latter being controlled by the mean diameter of the spheres in the nano-scale range. Transport mean free paths of photons in the RL’s active region are calculated using Mie scattering theory and corroborated with coherent backscattering measurements. Further wavelength modification is also possible by changing the pump spot size and the pump fluence. 相似文献

Amorphous solids are potential candidates for room temperature applications, such as structural materials, due to their outstanding mechanical properties. For the first time, the local atomic dynamics of amorphous metallic nanorods are spatially resolved at room temperature using electron microscopy. Methodologically, quasi-equilibrium conditions are verified by two-time correlation functions. FeNiP is chosen as a suitable model system since a bamboo structure forms upon electrodeposition into nanotubular confinement, consisting of thin Fe-rich and Ni-rich amorphous layers. Therefore, the present nano-glassy structure allows studying the glass dynamics of two glassy phases at once, at the same time avoiding any preparation-related structural artifacts of the intrinsically electron-transparent samples. By comparing the local atomic mobility with the local composition and the local structural information of the glassy phases, correlations between medium-range order and time scales of heterogeneous glassy dynamics are consistently obtained. 相似文献

We consider stability and robust stability of polynomials with respect to a given arbitrary disjoint decomposition ${{\mathbb C}^{n} = \Gamma \uplus \Lambda }$ . A polynomial is called stable if it has no zeros in the region of instability Λ and robustly stable if it is stable and remains so under small variations of its coefficients. Inspired by the article Robust stability of multivariate polynomials. Part 1: Small coefficient perturbations by Kharitonov et al. (Multidimens Syst Signal Process 10(1):21–32, 1999), we generalise some of their results to arbitrary stability decompositions and develop some fundamental results on robustly stable polynomials. The central one of them is a characterisation of robust stability in terms of the stability of several other polynomials, which yields a test for robust stability based on stability tests. Finally, we consider the special situation that the region of instability is a Cartesian product and recover some results for the standard stability decompositions for linear partial differential resp. difference equations with constant coefficients. 相似文献

Highly invasive surgical procedures, such as the implantation of a prosthetic device, require correct force delivery to achieve desirable outcomes and minimize trauma induced during the operation. Improvement in surgeon technique can reduce the chances of excessive force application and lead to optimal placement of the electrode array. The fundamental factors that affect the degree of success for cochlear implant recipients are identified through empirical methods. Insertion studies are performed to assess force administration and electrode trajectories during implantations of the Nucleus 24 Contour and Nucleus 24 Contour Advance electrodes into a synthetic model of the human Scala Tympani, using associated methods. Results confirm that the Advance Off- Stylet insertion of the soft-tipped Contour Advance electrode gives an overall reduction in insertion force. Analysis of force delivery and electrode positioning during cochlear implantation can help identify and control key factors for improvement of insertion method.
