The fatigue life of circular rubber bearings under cyclic compression is theoretically and numerically analyzed based on a previously proposed fatigue failure mechanism. The energy release rate at any point in circular rubber bearings under cyclic compression, which depends on the cracking energy density and crack length along the predicted crack propagation path, is derived first theoretically. Then, the corresponding fatigue crack growth rate and fatigue life are determined numerically by introducing the fatigue parameters of three different rubber compounds before and after suffering from thermal aging. Meanwhile, the effects of intrinsic flaw size and maximum compressive stress on the fatigue life of circular rubber bearings are also investigated. It is found that the enlargement in the Regime 1 range of the crack growth rate of rubber increases the fatigue resistance of circular rubber bearings. Therefore, the effects of the mechanical properties, intrinsic flaw size, threshold value, and maximum cyclic compressive stress on fatigue life are significant and should be taken into account in designing rubber bearings. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new bipolar hosts C1O1, C2O1, and C1O2 comprising hole-transporting carbazole as donor (D) and electron-transporting oxadiazole as acceptor (A) have been designed and synthesized to tune D/A ratio with a view for getting in-depth information about structure–property–performance relationship. The D/A ratio exerts subtle influences on absorption spectra and energy levels. Time-of-flight (TOF) measurements reveal that the increment of donor units effectively increase the hole mobility. The appropriate energy levels and triplet energies along with promising morphological and thermal stability of these molecules bring out them as suitable hosts to realize green PhOLEDs with (PBi)2Ir(acac) and (PPy)2Ir(acac) emitters. Green phosphorescent devices hosted by C1O1, C2O1, and C1O2 achieved maximum external quantum efficiencies of 20.7%, 20.4%, and 17.3%, respectively. These results indicate that carbazole/oxadiazole hybrid molecule with one carbazole and oxadiazole each is a better candidate for highly efficient green PhOLEDs. 相似文献

Water permeation analysis on gas diffusion layers of proton exchange membrane fuel cells for Teflon-coating annotation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This study presents an analysis of water permeation of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-coated gas diffusion layer (GDL) to determine the influence of hydrophobic treatment on the GDL for diagnosis of water flooding. It is found that the behaviour of water drainage is controlled by the pore configuration instead of the hydrophobicity in GDL. Better water drainage is achieved by the action of the Teflon coating in modulating the GDL pore configuration to give both a larger average pore size and a wider distribution of pore size. The results show that water penetration through the GDL must overcome a threshold surface tension defined by the largest pore range. A 30 wt.% PTFE coating of a GDL is shown to generate a satisfactory pore configuration, explaining the improved cell polarization performance with a lower driven pressure (∼1.91 kPa) and a higher rate of water drainage. 相似文献

This work presents a modified algorithm for improving the intercept performance of the Aiming Point Guidance (APG) law (Tsao et al. 1998) subject to the dynamic lags of a missile system. The performance of APG is improved by taking into account the motions of the collision course and the achieved missile turning rate. Numerical simulations show that the modified APG (MAPG) performs better than the APG in terms of miss distance, interception time, and lateral acceleration demand. 相似文献

Abstract The management of heat of reactions in a packed‐bed catalytic reactor is “a priori” during the design and operation of such system. In the case of extremely exothermic reaction, the improvement in heat transfer will assure reactor stability and prevent runaway and explosion. Two experimental schemes were selected to study quantitatively the effectiveness of heat transfer improvement. Within the range of present experimentation, the improvement in terms of percentage increase in ker may be as high as 40% in case of mixed particle bed. In the case of square‐wave cyclic operations in gas flow, this improvement ranges between 4 to 10% increase in ker depending on the magnitude of particle Reynolds number. 相似文献

Five dual chamber microbial fuel cell reactors were inoculated with a mixed culture of sulfate-reducing bacteria and fed with artificial wastewater containing lactate and sulfate. A negative poised anode potential enhanced the performance of this fuel cell while a positive poised anode potential or no anode potential had no effect on performance. The effect of this anode potential promoted microbial colonization on the anode surface (biofilm) thereby presenting an effective and successful way for the start-up of a sulfate reducing bacterial microbial fuel cell. 相似文献

Abstract Software systems are developed by software projects. A software project generally associates with a process (software development process). A software project's process can be managed by process‐centered software engineering environments (PSEEs). In other words, PSEEs facilitate monitoring software projects. When a software project is being executed, many details may be uncertain in the early phases of the project. Therefore, managing uncertainty of a project's process becomes necessary. We identified existing approaches that can manage process uncertainty. Nevertheless, existing approaches suffer from drawbacks such as resource wasting. We thus propose two new approaches, which are pre‐defined semantics and incremental process program development. The former approach prevents duplicating the same code in a process program and the latter handles both predictable and unpredictable process uncertainty. Piper betel leaf (PBL) has the biological capabilities of detoxification and can work as an anti-inflammatory agent and an anti-oxidant. In this study, we evaluated the anti-oxidative activity of the extract of Piper betel leaves (PBLs) on the basis of Cu2+-mediated oxidation, and its ability to prevent foam cell formation in a model for oxidised low density lipoprotein (oxLDL)-induced lipid accumulation in macrophages. Our data demonstrated that PBLs were able to inhibit LDL oxidation in vitro and are able to reduce the lipid accumulation in macrophages. We showed the underlying mechanisms to be the following: PBLs up-regulated the protein levels of the class A and class B scavenger receptors, the membrane lipid transporter ABCA1, and its upstream regulator Liver X receptor (LXR) in the macrophages exposed to oxLDL. The results suggested that PBLs activated the reverse cholesterol transport mechanism to enhance the metabolism of the oxLDL that could prevent both lipid accumulation and foam cell formation and further minimise the possible damage of vessels caused by the oxLDL. 相似文献

Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease, and it manifests as progressive memory loss and cognitive decline. However, there are no effective therapies for AD, which is an urgent problem to solve. Evodiamine, one of the main bioactive ingredients of Evodia rutaecarpa, has been reported to ameliorate blood–brain barrier (BBB) permeability and improve cognitive impairment in ischemia and AD mouse models. However, whether evodiamine alleviates tauopathy remains unclear. This study aimed to examine whether evodiamine ameliorates tau phosphorylation and cognitive deficits in AD models. Methods: A protein phosphatase 2A inhibitor, okadaic acid (OA), was used to induce tau phosphorylation to mimic AD-like models in neuronal cells. Protein expression and cell apoptosis were detected using Western blotting and flow cytometry, respectively. Spatial memory/cognition was assessed using water maze, passive avoidance tests, and magnetic resonance imaging assay in OA-induced mice models, and brain slices were evaluated further by immunohistochemistry. Results: The results showed that evodiamine significantly reduced the expression of phosphor-tau, and further decreased tau aggregation and neuronal cell death in response to OA treatment. This inhibition was found to be via the inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase 3β, cyclin-dependent kinase 5, and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways. In vivo results indicated that evodiamine treatment ameliorated learning and memory impairments in mice, whereas Western blotting and immunohistochemical analysis of the mouse brain also confirmed the neuroprotective effects of evodiamine. Conclusions: Evodiamine can decrease the neurotoxicity of tau aggregation and exhibit a neuroprotective effect.
