In high-viscosity polymer solutions and blends, temperature variations during the quench process of the thermally-induced phase separation (TIPS) influence the dynamics and thermodynamics of phase separation. Hence, this study aims to investigate the impact of temperature variations on the morphology formation during the TIPS process. First, the influence of temporal temperature variations on phase separation is investigated by coupling a transient heat conduction model and the Cahn–Hilliard equation, and the results are compared with the isothermal phase separation process. Next, the morphology formation during phase separation is inspected by applying quench from two opposite sides of the sample to the same and different temperatures through coupling the Fourier heat transfer equation and the Cahn–Hilliard equation. The influence of the enthalpy of demixing on the morphology formation and the competition between the heat and mass transfer is also evaluated. It is confirmed that temporal variations of temperature alone have a significant impact on the morphology formation during the TIPS process. In addition, quenching the system to the same and different temperatures both leads to anisotropic morphology formation, which is affected by the quench rate, quench temperature, solution viscosity, and enthalpy of demixing. Upon applying different quench temperatures from opposite sides, two different types of morphologies and droplet sizes were formed as a result of the difference in the cooling rates between the two sides. Employing the enthalpy of demixing during phase separation induced a shallow quench effect on the deep quench side due to the fact that the heat moved toward the lowest temperature in the system, which led to the formation of a distinctive structure. 相似文献

In this work, CdTiO3 nanoparticles were synthesized through reaction between Cd(CH3COO)2.2H2O, Ti(OC4H9)4, trimesic acid as a new chelating agent and ethanol as solvent by Pechini sol–gel method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed that CdTiO3 nanostructures have rhombohedral structure with diameter of about 35.61 nm. The structure, morphology and size of CdTiO3 nanoparticles were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM and EDAX. The optical properties of the products were studied by DRS. Based on the results of experiments, it was found that temperature and time of calcination, pH and the solvent of reaction are important parameters for formation of CdTiO3 nanoparticles. Utilizing trimesic acid (benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid) as a new chelating agent for preparation of CdTiO3 nanostructures was initiative of this work. 相似文献

Regarding the increasing number of cancer patients, the global burden of this disease is continuing to grow. Despite a considerable improvement in the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer, new diagnosis and treatment strategies are required. Nanotechnology, as an interesting and advanced field in medicine, is aimed to further advance both cancer diagnosis and treatment. Gold nanocages (AuNCs), with hollow interiors and porous walls, have received a great deal of interest in various biomedical applications such as diagnosis, imaging, drug delivery, and hyperthermia therapy due to their special physicochemical characteristics including the porous structure and surface functionalization as well as optical and photothermal properties. Multivalent defects, e.g. double donors/acceptors or amphoteric defects, are important in materials used in solar cell production in general and in chalcopyrite materials in particular. We extended our thin film solar cell simulation software scaps to enable the simulation of multivalent defects with up to five different charge states; the algorithms presented are however able to simulate an arbitrary number of possible charge states. The presented solution method avoids numerical inaccuracies caused by the subtraction of two almost equal numbers.This new modelling facility is afterwards used to investigate the consequences of the multivalent character of defects for the simulation of chalcopyrite based solar cells. 相似文献
