Development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (LTSOFC) is now becoming a mainstream research direction worldwide. The advancement in the effective electrolyte materials has been one of the major challenges for LTSOFC development. To further improve the performance of electrolyte, composite approaches are considered as common strategies. The enhancement on ionic conductivity or sintering behavior ceria-based electrolyte can either be done by adding a carbonate phase to facilitate the utilization of the ionic-conducting interfaces, or by addition of alumina as insulator to reduce the electronic conduction of ceria. Thus the present report aims to design a composite electrolyte materials by combining the above two composite approaches, in order to enhance the ionic conductivity and to improve the long-term stability simultaneously. Here we report the preparation and investigation of GDC-KAlZn materials with composition of Gd doped ceria, K2CO3, ZnO and Al2O3. The structure and morphology of the samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, etc. The ionic conductivity of GDC-KAlZn sample was determined by impedance spectroscopy. The composite samples with various weight ratio of GDC and KAlZn were used as electrolyte material to fabricate and evaluate fuel cells as well as investigate the composition dependent properties. The good ionic conductivity and notable fuel cell performance of 480 mW cm−2 at 550 °C has demonstrated that GDC-KAlZn composite electrolyte can be regarded as a potential electrolyte material for LTSOFCs. 相似文献

This work examines the measurement of surface specific soot oxidation rates with the High Temperature Oxidation-Tandem Differential Mobility Analyzer (HTO-TDMA) method. The Computational Fluid Dynamics package CFD-ACE+ is used to understand particle flow, oxidation and size dependent particle losses in the laminar aerosol flow reactor using an Eulerian-Lagrangian framework. Decrease of DMA selected mono-disperse particle size distribution due to oxidation within the aerosol tube is modeled using fitted kinetic soot oxidation parameters. The effects of Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis on particle flow and loss to the reactor walls are evaluated. The position of peak particle diameter, which is used as an indicator to determine oxidation rate, is found to be independent of diffusion, thermophoresis and secondary flow effects, thus validating its use in deriving kinetic soot oxidation parameters. Diffusion does not affect the evolution of particle size distribution within the reactor. However, thermophoresis is found to be the dominant mechanism influencing both shape of particle size distribution and particle loss to the walls of the aerosol reactor. Simulations show reduced effects of secondary recirculating flows on the particle flow trajectories in a vertical furnace as compared to horizontal furnace orientation. This work highlights the importance of making accurate measurements of temperature within the modeling domain. Since gas temperature within the flow tube could not be measured with high radial resolution using radiation shielded thermocouple, the derived soot oxidation rate may be uncertain by a factor of 2. Importantly, CFD simulations suggest that a distribution of temperature and size-dependent particle reactivities may be present in the reactor, requiring further theoretical and experimental investigation. 相似文献

Rotavirus is a major cause of mortality in developing countries, and yet the dynamics of rotavirus in such settings are poorly understood. Rotavirus is typically less seasonal in the tropics, although recent observational studies have challenged the universality of this pattern. While numerous studies have examined the association between environmental factors and rotavirus incidence, here we explore the role of intrinsic factors. By fitting a mathematical model of rotavirus transmission dynamics to published age distributions of cases from 15 countries, we obtain estimates of local transmission rates. Model-predicted patterns of seasonal incidence based solely on differences in birth rates and transmission rates are significantly correlated with those observed (Spearman''s ρ = 0.65, p < 0.05). We then examine seasonal patterns of rotavirus predicted across a range of different birth rates and transmission rates and explore how vaccination may impact these patterns. Our results suggest that the relative lack of rotavirus seasonality observed in many tropical countries may be due to the high birth rates and transmission rates typical of developing countries rather than being driven primarily by environmental conditions. While vaccination is expected to decrease the overall burden of disease, it may increase the degree of seasonal variation in the incidence of rotavirus in some settings. 相似文献

Thermal diffusivity and conductivity of hot pressed ZrB2 with different amounts of B4C (0–5 wt%) and ZrB2–SiC composites (10–30 vol% SiC) were investigated experimentally over a wide range of temperature (25–1500 °C). Both thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity were found to decrease with increase in temperature for all the hot pressed ZrB2 and ZrB2–SiC composites. At around 200 °C, thermal conductivity of ZrB2–SiC composites was found to be composition independent. Thermal conductivity of ZrB2–SiC composites was also correlated with theoretical predictions of the Maxwell–Eucken relation. The dominated mechanisms of heat transport for all hot pressed ZrB2 and ZrB2–SiC composites at room temperature were confirmed by Wiedemann–Franz analysis by using measured electrical conductivity of these materials at room temperature. It was found that electronic thermal conductivity dominated for all monolithic ZrB2 whereas the phonon contribution to thermal conductivity increased with SiC contents for ZrB2–SiC composites. 相似文献

Optimal use of scarce water resources is the prime objective for water resources development projects in the developing country like India. Optimal releases have been generally expressed as a function of reservoir state variables and hydrologic inputs by a relationship which ultimately allows the policy/water managers to determine the water to be released as a function of available information. Optimal releases were obtained by using optimal control theory with inflow series and revised reservoir characteristics such as elevation area capacity table, zero elevation level as input in this study. Operating rules for reservoir were developed as a function of demand, water level and inflow. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with back propagation algorithm, Fuzzy Logic and decision tree algorithms such as M5 and REPTree were used for deriving the operating rules using the optimal releases for an irrigation and power supply reservoir, located in northern India. It was found that fuzzy logic model performed well compared to other soft computing techniques such as ANN, M5P and REPTree investigated in this study. 相似文献

Low‐fat ground pork patties (<10% total fat) made with carrageenan added at either 0.25, 0.50 or 0.75% final concentration were processed and the compositional and sensory characteristics compared with control patties which contained 20% fat. The moisture content of raw and cooked low‐fat patties was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than control patties because of greater amounts of water added during formulation. Cooking yield, fat and moisture retention also improved significantly (P < 0.05) in low‐fat patties that had carrageenan incorporated when compared to a control product. The dimensions of the low‐fat patties were maintained better than those of the control product during cooking. The sensory attributes of low‐fat patties with 0.5% carrageenan were similar to those of the high‐fat control. The lipid profile revealed as much as a 47.7 or 44.1% decrease in total lipids and cholesterol content respectively, compared with the controls. The calorie content was reduced by 31.1% in low‐fat cooked patties compared with the controls. The texture profile of low‐fat patties that had been made with 0.5% carrageenan were similar to control patties with only a slight increase in hardness and gumminess in the low‐fat product. The low‐fat ground pork patties made in the present study remained stable without any appreciable loss of physico‐chemical, microbiological and organoleptic quality during refrigerated storage (4 ± 1 °C) for 21 and 35 days in aerobic and vacuum packaging respectively. 相似文献

In this paper a novel structure of annular ring loaded stacked circular patch microstrip antenna is theoretically analysed to observe various parameters such as return loss, input impedance, gain, directivity and radiation pattern. It is found that antenna possess three band of operation which signify the compactness and multiband operation of antenna. The antenna is resonating at three operating frequencies 1.720, 2.950, 3.060 GHz. The proposed theory is verified by simulation using Ansoft’s HFSS and theoretical results are in good agreement with simulated results. Electrical, structural and optical properties of a composite containing a polymer electrolyte (namely polyethylene oxide complexed with sodium iodide) and multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) are reported. The films of these composites were ‘solution casted’ using the viscous solution of polyethylene oxide (PEO) complexed with sodium iodide (NaI) in desired ratios and characterised using various techniques. The conductivity versus composition plot in PEO:NaI shows conductivity maxima at 12?wt% NaI concentration while in MWCNTs doped polymer electrolyte it occurs at 40?wt% MWCNTs concentration. The surface morphology by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows the enhancement in amorphous reason by MWCNTs doping which is a well-known favourable condition for conductivity enhancement. The differential scanning calorimetry shows that dispersal of MWCNTs reduces the crystallinity of polymer electrolyte that is well-supported by our polarised optical micrographs and SEM measurements. 相似文献

One of the key challenges in reforming military fuels for use with fuel cells is their high sulfur content, which can poison the fuel cell anodes. Sulfur-tolerant fuel reformers can convert this sulfur into H(2)S and then use a desulfurizing bed to remove it prior to the fuel cell. In order to optimize and verify this desulfurization process, a gas-phase sulfur analyzer is required to measure H(2)S at low concentrations (<1 ppm(v)) in the presence of other reforming gases (e.g., 25-30% H(2), 10-15% H(2)O, 15% CO, 5% CO(2), 35-40% N(2), and trace amounts of light hydrocarbons). In this work, we utilize near-infrared cavity-enhanced optical absorption spectroscopy (off-axis ICOS) to quantify H(2)S in a JP-8 fuel reformer product stream. The sensor provides rapid (2 s), highly precise (±0.1 ppm(v)) measurements of H(2)S in reformate gases over a wide dynamic range (0-1000 ppm(v)) with a low detection limit (3σ = ±0.09 ppm(v) in 1 s) and minimal cross-interferences from other present species. It simultaneously quantifies CO(2) (±0.2%), CH(4) (±150 ppm(v)), C(2)H(4) (±30 ppm(v)), and H(2)O (±300 ppm(v)) in the reformed gas for a better characterization of the fuel reforming process. Other potential applications of this technology include measurement of coal syngas and H(2)S in natural gas. By including additional near-infrared, distributive feedback diode lasers, the instrument can also be extended to other reformate species, including CO and H(2). 相似文献

Emerging evidence indicates that excessive exposure to manganese (Mn) during the prenatal period and early childhood may result in neurodevelopmental deficits. However, accurate exposure biomarkers are not well established, limiting our understanding of exposure-response relationships over these susceptible periods of development. Naturally shed deciduous teeth are potentially a useful biomarker of environmental exposure to Mn. However, the uptake and distribution of Mn in human teeth has not been studied in detail.Mn distribution was measured at high resolution (~ 20 μm) in eight human primary teeth using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. A bio-imaging methodology was applied to construct detailed elemental maps of three incisors, and bone meal (NIST SRM 1486) was used to validate the analyses.The distribution of Mn in enamel and coronal dentine showed a distinct and reproducible pattern. In enamel, the 55Mn:43Ca ratio was highest at the outer edge of enamel (range = 0.57 to 4.74) for approximately 20-40 μm but was substantially lower in deeper layers (range = 0.005 to 0.013). The highest levels of Mn were observed in dentine immediately adjacent the pulpal margin (55Mn:43Ca range = 2.27 to 6.95). Importantly, a clearly demarcated high Mn zone was observed in dentine at the incisal end of the teeth. Using confocal laser scanning microscopy to visualize the neonatal line, this region was identified as being in the prenatally formed dentine.The high-resolution map of the spatial distribution of Mn in human primary teeth highlighted specific reproducible patterns of Mn distribution in enamel and coronal dentine. 相似文献
