An Analysis of Internal Parameter Variations Effects on Nanoscaled Gates   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The predicted deterioration of the component quality, due to the shrinking of components to near atomic scale, threatens the effectiveness and the applicability of conventional digital system design methodologies in the giga and tera-scale integration era. Three aggression sources support the previous statement: i) the increasing device parameter variability induced by the extreme reduction of the critical feature sizes and the intrinsic nature of new devices; ii) the intense and practically unpredictable internal noise; and iii) the large number of physical defects. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the noise and parameter variations effects on a basic processing gate. We derive formulas to calculate the expected value and the variance of the gate output under the effects of noise, threshold, and gain fluctuations. Using these expressions we also derive a cost-performance equation that evaluates the gate error probability from its parameter variability, noise, power, and area or redundance. The proposed model is generic for any computing gate in the current digital paradigm. To illustrate the model applicability we calculate the error probability curve for a 90 nm CMOS inverter showing that for this technology the noise is the main limiting factor. A tradeoff analysis of area-power-redundancy-reliability for nanogates is performed indicating that the use of nanoscale individual elements for fabricating gates in deep-nanoscale technologies may not be a viable option. The results clearly suggest that the use of redundant structures is necessary and that averaging structures with mid-high redundancy factors may constitute a reasonable solution for building reliable nanoscale gates.  相似文献

Nowadays, there is some doubt about building new nuclear power plants (NPPs). Instead, there is a growing interest in analyzing the possibility to extend current NPP operation, where life management programs play an important role. The evolution of the NPP safety depends on the evolution of the reliability of its safety components, which, in turn, is a function of their age along the NPP operational life. In this paper, a new age-dependent reliability model is presented, which includes parameters related to surveillance and maintenance effectiveness and working conditions of the equipment, both environmental and operational. This model may be used to support NPP life management and life extension programs, by improving or optimizing surveillance and maintenance tasks using risk and cost models based on such an age-dependent reliability model. The results of the sensitivity study in the example application show that the selection of the most appropriate maintenance strategy would directly depend on the previous parameters. Then, very important differences are expected to appear under certain circumstances, particularly, in comparison with other models that do not consider maintenance effectiveness and working conditions simultaneously.  相似文献

Transparent electrodes (TEs) having electrooptical trade‐offs better than state‐of‐the‐art indium tin oxide (ITO) are continuously sought as they are essential to enable flexible electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this work, a TiO2‐Ag‐ITO (TAI)‐based TE is introduced and its use is demonstrated in an inverted polymer solar cell (I‐PSCs). Thanks to the favorable nucleation and wetting conditions provided by the TiO2, the ultrathin silver film percolates and becomes continuous with high smoothness at very low thicknesses (3–4 nm), much lower than those required when it is directly deposited on a plastic or glass substrate. Compared to conventional ITO‐TE, the proposed TAI‐TE exhibits exceptionally lower electrical sheet resistance (6.2 Ω sq?1), higher optical transmittance, a figure‐of‐merit two times larger, and mechanical flexibility, the latter confirmed by the fact that the resistance increases only 6.6% after 103 tensile bending cycles. The I‐PSCs incorporating the TAI‐TE show record power conversion efficiency (8.34%), maintained at 96% even after 400 bending cycles.  相似文献

A total of 62 ears of patients with typical Meniere's disease was examined by the furosemide test to detect endolymphatic hydrops. In 95% of the normal control group, the per cent change in the maximum velocity of the slow phase of caloric nystagmus (MVS) after injection of furosemide was under 10%. Therefore, a positive furosemide test was defined as a change in MVS of more than 10%. Thirty-five (56%) of the 62 ears with typical Meniere's disease showed a positive furosemide test. When the affected ears were divided into two groups according to vestibular symptoms, only 11 (38%) of 29 inactive ears were positive while 24 (73%) of 33 active ears were positive. There was a significant difference in the positive rate of the furosemide test between the ears with clinically inactive and active vestibular disease. The per cent canal paresis (CP%) was determined to assess canal excitability and a CP%> 25% was defined as canal paresis. There was no significant difference in the furosemide test positive rate between ears with canal paresis and ears with a normal CP%, although the former tended to show a greater MVS change. The response to the furosemide test showed no relationship to the results of pure tone audiometry. In conclusion, the furosemide test appears to indicate the vestibular status in various stages of Meniere's disease.  相似文献

One of the fundamental objectives of European food law is the protection of human health. In this framework, the administration has to ensure that there are control measures from “farm to fork”, which maintain product safety in each stage of the food chain. With this in mind, the objective of this paper was to assess the level of safety of smoked fish in relation to Listeria monocytogenes in the early stages of the chain. This was carried out by evaluating the results obtained by the official control of the Valencian region related to the level of implementation of pre-requisites and HACCP. The prevalence of this organism in the industry and the retail stage was also measured. In order to discern whether these values were within the international consumer protection objectives a practical case focusing on smoked salmon was studied. The results showed that the management system in the industry is effective. However, there is a real increase in the prevalence in the samples taken in the supermarket. The ALOP values estimated for smoked salmon indicated that the level of safety achieved is good in a very high percentage of cases, though governments and the different agents in the food chain must continue working to improve and attain new safety goals.  相似文献

We demonstrate an indium-free organic photovoltaic cell that incorporates an ultrathin metal film as a semitransparent anode. In the proposed device structure, the indium tin oxide electrode is replaced by an ultrathin Cu-Ni bilayer. When an NiO is used as the hole transporting layer, the characteristic photovoltaic parameters of the cell fabricated with the metal electrode are similar to those of the device fabricated with the indium tin oxide (ITO). Despite the fact that the metal electrode exhibits a transparency that is 65% of the ITO electrode, the short-circuit current for the metallic anode based cell is 77% of the ITO based one, indicating that the photon absorption could be enhanced by the optical microcavity formed between the Cu-Ni and Al electrodes. The overall photo-conversion efficiency for the metallic electrode based cell is 76% of the ITO based one, which was measured to be 3.3%. The obtained performances of ultrathin metals when included in the cell architecture used here, combined with their low cost, high compatibility with other materials, and mechanical flexibility, confirm their potentials for organic photovoltaics.  相似文献

This paper presents the design optimization by a multi-objective genetic algorithm of a safety-instrumented system based on RAMS+C measures. This includes optimization of safety and reliability measures plus lifecycle cost. Diverse redundancy is implemented as an option for redundancy allocation, and special attention is paid to its effect on common cause failure and the overall system objectives. The requirements for safety integrity established by the standard IEC 61508 are addressed, as well as the modelling detail required for this purpose. The problem is about reliability and redundancy allocation with diversity for a series-parallel system. The objectives to optimize are the average probability of failure on demand, which represents the system safety integrity, Spurious Trip Rate and Lifecycle Cost. The overall method is illustrated with a practical example from the chemical industry: a safety function against high pressure and temperature for a chemical reactor. In order to implement diversity, each subsystem is given the option of three different technologies, each technology with different reliability and diagnostic coverage characteristics. Finally, the optimization with diversity is compared against optimization without diversity.  相似文献
