Paint films used to protect metalic surfaces are commonly polymeric in nature. The extent of protection offered by film depends on many factors including the characteristic electrical resistance behaviou and its effect on impeding local electrochemical processes. In the present work a range of polymeric coatings have been produced with systematically varied crosslinked density using an ultra-violet light curing technique. Their electrical resistance behaviour in an environment of varying concentrations of KC1 electrolyte has been examined. It is demonstrated that there are signs of the beginnings of a mechanism changeover from “D-type” to “I-type” behaviour at higher levels of crosslink density thus giving some tenuous support to previously unproven hypotheses in this area. 相似文献

2 experiments were conducted in which passive immunization was achieved by providing Ss with counterarguments against presuasive messages to which they were later exposed. In both studies, this procedure produced a significant tendency to displace the perceived content of the "change" message toward the stand advocated in the immunization message. These results were tentatively attributed to the Ss' attempts to minimize the discrepancy between the opposing statements, both of which appeared to emanate from prestigeful sources. 2 consecutive groups of 1st-grade children classified for their potential for being emotionally disturbed were reexamined upon reaching 7th grade. Children manifesting high potential for being disturbed (labeled Red Tag) were compared, on school record and special test measures, with peers evidencing low potential for disturbance (labeled Non-Red Tag). These measures reflected achievement, classroom behavior, peer perceptions, attendance, and school nurse referral. Both groups of Red Tag children scored significantly more negatively than Non-Red Tag children on 10 of 47 measures in one case and on 13 of 42 in the other. These findings support the hypothesis that early disturbance in children is not ephemeral and is a portent for later difficulty. ABSTRACT: Ground high (HCS), intermediate (ICS), and low color stability (LCS) cow muscles were used to investigate effects of blending muscles of different color stabilities on ground beef display color. Six formulations at 90% and 80% lean points combining HCS, ICS, and LCS muscles were: 50% HCS + 50% ICS; 50% HCS + 50% LCS; 50% ICS + 50% LCS; 33.3% HCS + 33.3% ICS + 33.3% LCS; 75% HCS + 25% LCS; and 25% HCS + 75% LCS. Patties were packaged in a high oxygen (80% O2 , 20% CO2 ) modified atmosphere, held in dark storage for 5 d, then displayed for 4 d. The 80% lean patties containing ≥ 50% HCS had the brightest red initial visual color. During display 75% HCS + 25% LCS at both lean points had the most cherry-red display color. Patties containing a greater proportion of HCS had greater metmyoglobin reducing ability throughout display. HCS, ICS, and LCS muscle can be mixed without adverse color affects, provided LCS muscle is ≤ 25%, and HCS muscle is ≥ 50% of the blend. 相似文献

Extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUVL) is a leading candidate for the 22 nm node lithography and beyond. However, there are still some critical problems before EUVL may be deployed in high-volume manufacturing. One of the critical problems is to estimate the EUVL aerial image formation for optical proximity correction (OPC) in order to compensate for EUVL effects such as shadowing and flare. This study discusses aerial image formation through modeling of optical transfer function to assimilate optical diffraction, long range layout dependent flare effects, and shadowing effects due to non-telecentric imaging optics in the EUV case. Hence, after optimizing optical process parameters to model the EUV aerial image, this study will investigate OPC modeling methods employed to compensate these optical effects in the mask design flow. 相似文献

This study investigated the influence of high‐pressure processing on the morphology and permeability of low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) films used for food packaging. This was done by monitoring the crystallinity, melting temperature (Tm), and oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of the materials before and after the pressure treatments. A first set of pouches made from the LDPE films were filled with 95% ethanol then pressured at 200, 400, 600, and 800 MPa for 5 and 10 min at 25 and 75°C. The crystallinity and Tm of the films were measured using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). X‐ray diffraction (XRD) was also used to determine the crystallinity. A second set of LDPE pouches were similarly made but a half of them were filled with 95% ethanol and the other half filled with distilled water. These second set of pouches were pressured at 200, 600, and 800 MPa then their OTR tested. Results of the DSC experiments showed that the Tm increased with increasing pressure intensity but the crystallinity changes were not detectible. The XRD method on the other hand, showed significant (P < 0.05) crystallinity increases with increasing pressure treatments. The gas permeability analyses showed decreasing OTR's with increasing high‐pressure intensity treatments. The OTR in the pouches filled with the 95% ethanol was slightly lower than that of the pouches filled with water. We designed and tested real-time PCR probe/primer sets to detect and quantify Cytochrome b sequences of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from nine vertebrate species of pet (dog), farm (cow, chicken, sheep, horse, pig), wildlife (Canada goose, white-tailed deer), and human. Linear ranges of the assays were from 10(1) to 10(8) copies/microl. To formally test the performance of the assays, twenty blinded fecal suspension samples were analyzed by real-time PCR to identify the source of the feces. Sixteen of the twenty samples were correctly and unambiguously identified. Average sensitivity was calculated to be 0.850, while average specificity was found to be 0.994. One beef cow sample was not detected, but mtDNA from 11 other beef cattle of both sexes and varying physiological states was found in concentrations similar (3.45 x 10(7) copies/g) to thatfound in human feces (1.1 x 10(7) copies/g). Thus, environmental conditions and sample handling are probably important factors for successful detection of fecal mtDNA. When sewage samples were analyzed, only human mtDNA (7.2 x 10(4) copies/ 100 mL) was detected. With a detection threshold of 250 copies/reaction, an efficient concentration and purification method resulted in a final detection limit for human feces of 1.8 mg/ 100 mL water. 相似文献

Obesity is a serious epidemic health problem that can cause many other diseases including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Current approaches to combat obesity suffer from low effectiveness and adverse side effects. Here, a new self‐administrable and minimally invasive transdermal drug delivery strategy for home‐based long‐term treatment of obesity and other diseases is developed. Specifically, ultrathin, core‐shelled, and lance‐shaped polymeric drug reservoirs (micro‐lances [MLs]) are readily fabricated by a thermal pressing molding method and totally implanted into subcutaneous fat by lancing through the skin. Using a diet‐induced obese mouse model, it is shown that the development of obesity and associated metabolic disorders is effectively inhibited by applying therapeutic core‐shelled MLs once every 2 weeks. The outstanding therapeutic effects are attributable to highly localized and biphasic drug release, as well as combination therapy based on browning transformation of white fat and enhanced insulin sensitivity. 相似文献
