Machining of particle-reinforced metal matrix composites has been considerably difficult due to the extremely abrasive nature of the reinforcements that causes rapid tool wear and high machining cost. Abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining has proven to be a viable technique to machine such materials compared to conventional machining processes. The present study is focused on the surface roughness of AWJ cut surfaces and genetic expression programming (GEP) was proposed to predict surface roughness in AWJ machining of 7075 Al alloy composites reinforced with Al2O3 particles. In the development predictive models, characteristics of materials such as size and weight fraction of reinforcement particles, and depth of cut were considered as model variables. The training and testing data sets were obtained from the well-established machining test results. The weight fraction of particle, size of particle, and depth of cut were used as independent input variables, while arithmetic mean of surface roughness, maximum roughness of profile height, and mean spacing of profile irregularity as dependent output variables. Different models for the output variables were predicted on the basis of training data set using GEP and accuracy of the best model was proved with testing data set. The test results showed that output variables increased with increasing input variables. The predicted results were compared with experimental results and found to be in good agreement with the experimentally observed ones. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the host-specific differences in fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) profiles of fecal coliforms (FC). A known-source library was constructed with 314 FC isolates cultured from 6 possible sources of fecal pollution; 99 isolates from sewage; 29 from bovine; 29 from poultry; 50 from swine; 46 from waterfowl; and 61 from deer. It was found that the hydroxy FAMEs 12:0 2 OH, 12:03 OH, and 14:02 OH were exclusively associated with isolates of human origin. On the other hand, 3 saturated FAMEs, 10:0, 15:0, and 18:0 were found only in isolates from non-human sources, 15:0 being associated with livestock samples only. In addition to the presence of these signature FAMEs, the mean relative masses of 16:1 omega7c and 16:1 ISO/14:03 OH were significantly different between the isolates of human and non-human origins. A linear discriminant function differentiated FC isolates of human origin from those of livestock and wildlife origin at 99% accuracy. These results strongly suggest that the FAME profiles of FC show statistically significant host specificity and may have the potential to be used as a phenotypic microbial source tracking tool. 相似文献

As we move towards the miniaturization of devices to perform tasks at the nano and microscale, it has become increasingly important to develop new methods for actuation, sensing, and control. Over the past decade, bio‐hybrid methods have been investigated as a promising new approach to overcome the challenges of scaling down robotic and other functional devices. These methods integrate biological cells with artificial components and therefore, can take advantage of the intrinsic actuation and sensing functionalities of biological cells. Here, the recent advancements in bio‐hybrid actuation are reviewed, and the challenges associated with the design, fabrication, and control of bio‐hybrid microsystems are discussed. As a case study, focus is put on the development of bacteria‐driven microswimmers, which has been investigated as a targeted drug delivery carrier. Finally, a future outlook for the development of these systems is provided. The continued integration of biological and artificial components is envisioned to enable the performance of tasks at a smaller and smaller scale in the future, leading to the parallel and distributed operation of functional systems at the microscale. 相似文献

In this study, electrical conductivity of a vinyl ester based composite containing low content (0.05, 0.1 and 0.3 wt.%) of double and multi-walled carbon nanotubes with and without amine functional groups (DWCNTs, MWCNTs, DWCNT-NH2 and MWCNT-NH2) was investigated. The composite with pristine MWCNTs was found to exhibit the highest electrical conductivity. Experiments aimed to induce an aligned conductive network with application of an alternating current (AC) electric field during cure were carried out on the resin suspensions with MWCNTs. Formation of electric anisotropy within the composite was verified. Light microscopy (LM), scanning electron (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were conducted to visualize dispersion state and the extent of alignment of MWCNTs within the polymer cured with and without application of the electric field. To gain a better understanding of electric field induced effects, glass transition temperature (Tg) of the composites was measured via Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). It was determined that at 0.05 wt.% loading rate of MWCNTs, the composites, cured with application of the AC electric field, possessed a higher Tg than the composites cured without application of the AC electric field. 相似文献

Trivalent chromium was removed from the artificial wastewater using low-cost diatomite in batch and continuous systems. In batch system, four different sizes and five different amount of sorbent were used. The effect of the temperature on sorption was evaluated with using three different temperatures. As a result of the experiments, 85% of the trivalent chromium was removed from the wastewater in conditions of using 1.29 mm grain material at 30 °C temperature for 60 min in batch system but chromium removal was 82% at 30 °C temperature for 22 min and 97% from the wastewater at 30 °C temperature for 80 min in continuous system. Also, the equilibrium adsorption isotherms have been analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich models. The Langmuir isotherms have the highest correlation coefficients. Langmuir adsorption isotherm constants corresponding to adsorption capacity, q0, were found to be 28.1, 26.5 and 21.8 mg Cr3+/g diatomite at 15, 30 and 45 °C, respectively. Adsorption process was an exothermic process as a result of thermodynamic parameters calculations. The kinetic data of the sorption showed that the pseudo second-order equation was the more appropriate, which indicate that the intraparticle diffusion is the rate-limiting factor. 相似文献

In this study, the effect of CNT amount in Al-CNT composites produced by adding carbon nanotube (CNT) to 7075 Al alloy in various amounts on microstructure and wear behaviors of aluminum matrix composites was investigated. CNT was added to 7075 Al alloy powder at five different amounts. The powders were mechanically milled for 2 hours. Mechanical milled powders were cold pressed and then pre-shaped by hot pressing. Pre-shaped samples were sintered for 1 hour under 10?6 millibar in 580°C. Microstructure examinations, hardness measurements, and wear tests were carried out. The results show that CNT's in the microstructure were agglomerated as nanotube amount increases and there was no uniform distribution. The highest hardness value was obtained in AMC reinforced with 1% CNT while it is seen that hardness of the composite decreases and weight loss increases as CNT amount increases. 相似文献

The cell is the smallest unit of living beings, which has structural and functional properties. Almost all cell behaviors are regulated by various intracellular reactions initiated by the signaling. The signaling and the distance between cells influence each other. Thus, cell-location-based modeling and analyzing of histopathological tissues provide important information to the expert. In literature, methods such as distance-based threshold, K-Nearest Neighbor, Voronoi graphs, Delaunay triangulation, and colored graph have been used. However, circular neighborhood relationships of cells have not been considered by any CAD system so far despite of its crucial impact. Thus, we developed the circular neighborhood cell-graph. Histopathological images of liver were classified by using features extracted from T-Distance, K-Nearest Neighbor, Voronoi, Delaunay, and the proposed cell-graph. Then, the classification performances of the methods were compared. Experimental results show that liver tissue images can be classified with accuracy of 95.7% by using the features provided by the proposed cell-graph model. 相似文献
