We report on the use of pulsed plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (P-PECVD) technique and show that “state-of-the-art” amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) materials and solar cells can be produced at a deposition rate of up to 15 Å/s using a modulation frequency in the range 1–100 kHz. The approach has also been developed to deposit materials and devices onto large area, 30 cm×40 cm, substrates with thickness uniformity (<5%), and gas utilization rate (>25%). We have developed a new “hot wire” chemical vapor deposition (HWCVD) method and report that our new filament material, graphite, has so far shown no appreciable degradation even after deposition of 500 μm of amorphous silicon. We report that this technique can produce “state-of-the-art” a-Si:H and that a solar cell of p/i/n configuration exhibited an initial efficiency approaching 9%. The use of microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si) materials to produce low-cost stable solar cells is gaining considerable attention. We show that both of these techniques can produce thin film μc-Si, dependent on process conditions, with 1 1 1 and/or 2 2 0 orientations and with a grain size of approx. 500 A. Inclusion of these types of materials into a solar cell configuration will be discussed.  相似文献

Our objective was to assess the effects of feeding negative dietary cation-anion difference (DCAD) prepartum diets on milk production, reproductive performance, and culling. Cows from 4 commercial farms in Ontario, Canada were enrolled in a pen-level controlled trial from November 2017 to April 2019. Close-up pens (1 per farm) with cows 3 wk before calving were randomly assigned to a negative DCAD (TRT; ?108 mEq/kg of dry matter; target urine pH 6.0–6.5) or a control diet (CON; +105 mEq/kg of dry matter with a placebo supplement). Each pen was fed TRT or CON for 3 mo (1 period), and then switched to the other treatment for the next period (4 periods per farm). Data from 15 experimental units (8 pen treatments in TRT and 7 in CON), with a total of 1,086 observational units (cows), were included. The effect of treatment on milk yield at the first 3 milk recording tests of lactation was assessed with linear regression models accounting for repeated measures. The risk of pregnancy at first artificial insemination and culling by 30, 60, and 305 d in milk (DIM) were analyzed with logistic regression models, and effects on time to first AI, pregnancy, and culling were assessed with Cox proportional hazards models. All models included treatment, parity, and their interactions, accounting for pen-level randomization and clustering of animals within farm with random effects, giving 10 degrees of freedom for treatment effects. Multiparous cows fed TRT produced more milk at the first (42.0 vs. 38.8 ± 1.2 kg/d) and second (44.2 vs. 41.7 ± 1.3 kg/d) milk tests. However, multiparous cows fed TRT tended to have 0.2 percentage units less milk fat content at these tests. Although multiparous cows fed TRT tended to have greater energy-corrected milk at the first test (least squares means ± standard error: TRT = 46.1 ± 0.9 vs. CON = 43.8 ± 1 kg/d), there were no differences observed in energy-corrected milk at the second or third tests. In primiparous cows, there was no effect of treatment on milk production. Multiparous cows fed TRT had greater pregnancy to first insemination (TRT = 42 ± 3 vs. CON = 32 ± 4%) and tended to have shorter time to pregnancy [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.20; 95% CI: 0.96–1.49]. In primiparous cows fed TRT, time to pregnancy was increased (HR = 0.76; 95% CI: 0.59–0.99). Culling by 30 DIM tended to be less in TRT (3.3 ± 1.1%) than CON (5.5 ± 1.8%). No effect of treatment on culling by 305 DIM was detected in primiparous cows, but in multiparous cows, the TRT diets decreased the odds of culling (21.3 ± 1.9 vs. 31.7 ± 2.8%) and daily risk of culling to 305 DIM (HR = 0.64; 95% CI: 0.46 to 0.89). Under commercial herd conditions, prepartum negative DCAD diets improved milk production and reproductive performance, and reduced culling risk in multiparous cows. In primiparous cows, TRT diets had no effect on milk yield or culling, but increased the time to pregnancy. Our results suggest that negative DCAD diets should be targeted to multiparous cows.  相似文献

Unlike classically defined insertion sequence (IS) elements, which are delimited by their inverted terminal repeats, some IS elements do not have inverted terminal repeats. Among this group of atypical IS elements, IS116, IS900, IS901, and IS1110 have been proposed as members of the IS900 family of elements, not only because they do not have inverted terminal repeats but also because they share other features such as homologous transposases and particular insertion sites. In this study, we report a newly identified IS sequence, IS1547, which was first identified in a clinical isolate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its structure, insertion site, and putative transposase all conform with the conventions of the IS900 family, suggesting that it is a new member of this family. IS1547 was detected only in isolates of the M. tuberculosis complex, where it had highly polymorphic restriction fragment length polymorphism patterns, suggesting that it may be a useful genetic marker for identifying isolates of the M. tuberculosis complex and for distinguishing different strains of M. tuberculosis. ipl is a preferential locus for IS6110 insertion where there are eight known different insertion sites for IS6110. Surprisingly, the DNA sequence of ipl is now known to be a part of IS1547, meaning that IS1547 is a preferential site for IS6110 insertion.  相似文献

A questionnaire survey of 227 licensed psychologists (aged 27–76 yrs) identified 5 stress factors associated with the nature of psychotherapeutic work (maintaining the therapeutic relationship, scheduling, professional doubt, overinvolvement, and personal depletion) and 5 associated with patient behaviors (negative affect, resistance, psychopathological symptoms, suicidal threats, and passive-aggressive behaviors). This study examined the relation between depression diagnoses and outcomes in 132 cocaine-dependent patients who were randomized to relapse prevention (RP) or standard 12-step focused group continuing rare and followed for 2 years. Depressed patients attended more treatment sessions and had more cocaine-free urines during treatment than participants without depression, but they drank alcohol more frequently before treatment and during the 18-month posttreatment follow-up. Cocaine outcomes in depressed patients deteriorated to a greater degree after treatment than did cocaine outcomes in patients without depression, particularly in patients in RP who had a current depressive disorder at baseline. The best alcohol outcomes were obtained in nondepressed patients who received RIP. The results suggest that extended continuing care treatment may be warranted for cocaine-dependent patients with co-occurring depressive disorders. In this paper we consider Runge–Kutta discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) schemes for Vlasov–Poisson systems that model collisionless plasmas. One-dimensional systems are emphasized. The RKDG method, originally devised to solve conservation laws, is seen to have excellent conservation properties, be readily designed for arbitrary order of accuracy, and capable of being used with a positivity-preserving limiter that guarantees positivity of the distribution functions. The RKDG solver for the Vlasov equation is the main focus, while the electric field is obtained through the classical representation by Green’s function for the Poisson equation. A rigorous study of recurrence of the DG methods is presented by Fourier analysis, and the impact of different polynomial spaces and the positivity-preserving limiters on the quality of the solutions is ascertained. Several benchmark test problems, such as Landau damping, the two-stream instability, and the Kinetic Electro static Electron Nonlinear wave, are given.  相似文献

The C. elegans mutants, lrn-1 and lrn-2, are impaired in associative learning using conditioned taste cues. Both mutants are defective in associative learning about appetitive and aversive events, indicating that lrn-1 and lrn-2 exert effects across motivational boundaries. In a new olfactory associative learning paradigm, in which wild type worms learn to avoid a previously attractive diacetyl odor after it has been paired with an aversive acetic acid solution, lrn-1 and lrn-2 are impaired. Although defective in associative learning using a conditioned olfactory cue, nonassociative learning (habituation and dishabituation) using this same olfactory cue is unaffected. The discovery that lrn-1 and lrn-2 are defective in associative learning with both taste and olfactory cues may suggest that associative learning in different sensory modalities converges on a common genetic pathway in C. elegans that is subserved by lrn-1 and lrn-2. The study used quantitative and qualitative measures to determine differences in learning outcomes between two sections of an advanced technical writing course taught by the same instructor. The instructor used traditional textbook methods in one and technology-enhanced methods in the other. The findings upheld those of previous studies in that students in the experimental group rated both the course and their learning higher than that of their counterparts in the control group. Although fewer significant differences than expected resulted from the many measures taken, substantive positive differences in the writing submitted by students in the experimental group did occur. In order for such changes in performance to emerge as statistically significant differences, evaluation criteria for technical communication students may need to change  相似文献

In two experiments, learning disabled adolescents read passages that described North American minerals, using materials that incorporated either mnemonic or nonmnemonic illustrations. In Experiment 1, the students were instructed to remember attribute dichotomies (e.g., hard vs. soft minerals), whereas in Experiment 2, the students had to remember specific attribute values (e.g., Hardness Levels 1–20). In both experiments, students learned significantly more when they studied passages with mnemonic pictures. This was true both on immediate performance tests (Experiments 1 and 2) and following a 1-week delay (Experiment 2). Moreover, in Experiment 2, mnemonic instruction facilitated student's ability to make correct inferences about attribute dichotomies—even though such information was never explicitly presented in the lesson.
