This paper presents a study of the stress field forming of sector array transducers for vibro-acoustography applications. The system point-spread function (PSF) is given in terms of the dynamic radiation stress exerted on a point target by a dual ultrasound beam with slightly different frequencies. The radiation stress is calculated by assuming that the resulting ultrasound beam is a plane wave. The stress is proportional to the product of the velocity potential of each incident ultrasound beam. The beamforming and stress field forming of sector array transducers are analyzed through linear acoustics. An expression for the velocity potential produced by sector array transducers is derived. The vibro-acoustography PSF is evaluated numerically. A comparison between the PSF of a sector array and a confocal transducers is presented. The compared characteristics of the PSF are sidelobe levels, transverse, and in-depth spatial resolution. Indeed, one motivation to study sector transducers is the fact the depth-of-field of these transducers should be smaller than that of same size confocal transducers. An experimental setup was used to validate the theoretical PSF of sector array transducers. Results show that the measured PSF is in good agreement with the theoretical predications. Vibro-acoustography images of a breast-phantom by both transducers are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Vibro-acoustography is an imaging method that uses the radiation force of two interfering ultrasound beams of slightly different frequency to probe an object. An image is made using the acoustic emission resulted from the object vibration at the difference frequency. In this paper, the feasibility of imaging objects at twice the difference frequency (harmonic acoustic emission) is studied. Several possible origins of harmonic acoustic emission are explored. As an example, it is shown that microbubbles close to resonance can produce significant harmonic acoustic emission due to its high nonlinearity. Experiments demonstrate that, compared to the fundamental acoustic emission, harmonic acoustic emission greatly improves the contrast between microbubbles and other objects in vibro-acoustography (an improvement of 17-23 dB in these experiments). Applications of this technique include imaging the nonlinearity of the object and selective detection of microbubbles for perfusion imaging. The impact of microbubble destruction during the imaging process also is discussed.  相似文献

Custom instructions potentially improve execution speed and code compression of embedded applications. However, more efficient custom instructions need higher number of simultaneous registerfile accesses. Larger registerfiles are more power hungry with complex forwarding interconnects. Therefore, due to the limited ports of the base processor registerfile, size and efficiency of custom instructions could be generally limited. Recent researches have focused on overcoming this limitation by some innovative architectural techniques supplemented with customized compilations. However, to the best of our knowledge there are few researches that take into account the complete pipeline design and implementation considerations. This paper proposes a customized instruction set and pipeline architecture for an optimized embedded engine. The proposed architecture increases the performance by enhancing the available registerfile data bandwidth through register access pipelining. The achieved improvements are made by introducing double-word custom instructions whose registerfile accesses are overlapped in the pipeline. Potential hazards in such instructions are resolved by the introduced pipeline backwarding concept, yielding higher performance and code compression. While we study the effectiveness of the proposed architecture on domain-specific workloads from packet-processing benchmarks, the developed framework and architecture are applicable to other embedded application domains.  相似文献

Five mine water samples, 23 topsoil samples, and four mine waste (tailings) samples were collected to assess the effects of a closed Moroccan Mn mine. Based on the pH, electrical conductivity, and concentrations of sulphate, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb, and Mn, mining has not adversely influenced mine water quality. Soil samples were analyzed for 23 chemical elements and the results were interpreted by univariate and multivariate statistical techniques. Based on an enrichment factor (EF) calculation, only Cd, As, V, and Mn were selected for further study. Geochemical background (GB) and geoaccumulation index (Igeo) were determined for these elements to differentiate between geogenic and anthropogenic enrichment. The GB values showed that the Tiwiyyine soils contained a high geogenic content of Cd, As, V, and Mn that reflected the geochemistry of the parental rocks in this mineralized region. The Igeo calculation revealed that these soils were moderately influenced by anthropogenic activity, which had increased the concentrations of those elements. Finally, geochemical maps revealed that mining was likely responsible for the anthropogenic soil pollution.  相似文献

In a semiarid climate where the annual precipitation is low and the evaporation rate is high, contaminated drainage production from mine tailings can be controlled by reducing water infiltration. Store-and-release covers that use capillary barrier effects can prevent water percolation by storage and evaporation (or evapotranspiration) during wet and dry climatic periods. In Morocco, sedimentary phosphate mines are located close to contaminated sites, which includes the abandoned Kettara mine. This mine site generates highly contaminated acid rock drainage (ARD) with negative impacts on its surrounding area. In order to validate if phosphate mine wastes can be used as cover material to reclaim the Kettara site, instrumented test columns were exposed to field conditions and tested for a period of one and a half years. Under natural conditions, more than 94 % of the total net infiltration (246.5 mm) was released to the atmosphere by evaporation. Preliminary tests showed that the studied scenarios can limit deep water infiltration even during extreme simulated rainfall (155 mm/d) and could be used to efficiently control contaminated drainage in a semiarid climate.  相似文献
