Ultrasonic study in thoracoscopic operations]

Inhibition was studied of H-reflex of musculus soleus in patients (n = 31) with posterocapsulolenticular, anterocapsular, lenticular, thalamic, and corticosubcortical locations of hemispheric insult. Relationship was demonstrated of the pathological focus localization to abnormalities in the H-reflex inhibition, the most pronounced of them being recordable in patients presenting with complete damage to the posterior limb of the internal capsule.     

Cytomegalovirus iritis

We describe a case of focal cytomegalovirus iritis in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) who had CMV retinitis. The autopsy showed histologic evidence of focal iritis in the left eye. This iritis was characterized by infiltration of acute inflammatory cells mixed with cytomegalic cells, which was confirmed by CMV-specific immunohistochemical staining. The case suggested that cytomegalovirus could be a direct causative agent of infectious iritis in AIDS patients.     

Improved technique for cervical metrizamide myelography

Introduction of metrizamide into the lumbar subarachnoid space with the patient in a prone 15-20 degree head-down position improves delivery of contrast material for cervical myelography. Excellent visualization of the spinal cord and nerve roots has resulted using this technique.     

A new bone/blood index in the study of labelled citrate metabolism in rat bones in fracture, deafferentation, rickets, and caries]

A new bone/blood index has been developed which is calculated by dividing % of radionuclide inclusion in the bones by % of the inclusion in the serum. Graphic image of the index changes with time is significantly more demonstrative than digital tables and allows one not only easily measure distribution of the labelled compound between fractions diluted in the blood and sorbed on the bone but also specify a major direction of their transport between blood and bone. The index confirms the presence of biphasic primary fast but weak physical adsorption and secondary slow and strong chemisorption. This was established by the study of time course of the labelled citrate in intact rats of different age as well as in fracture and bone innervation defect, in rickets and dental caries. The proposed index can be applied in investigation of various diseases.     

Attachment of thioglycosides to proteins: enhancement of liver membrane binding

Thioglycosides of D-galactose, D-glucose, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, and D-mannose were covalently attached to Aspergillus oryzae alpha-amylase, hen's eggs lysozyme, and bovine serum albumin by amidination, diazo coupling, and amide formation. The binding of the newly formed glycoproteins (neoglycoproteins) to rabbit liver membranes was measured, using asialoorosomucoid as a reference. Attachment of D-galactosides by any of the three methods enhanced binding by several orders of magnitude. Coupling of a comparable number of D-mannosides or N-acetyl-D-glucosaminides had little or no effect. Attachment of D-glucosides also enhanced binding but to a variable extent depending on the method of attachment. Thus, the behavior of neoglycoproteins toward rabbit liver membranes closely paralleled that of serum glycoproteins (Ashwell and Morell, 1974) with respect to sugar specificity.     

偏振对种子注入影响的研究

针对2.09 μm单频Ho∶YAG激光器种子注入实验中声光布拉格衍射对不同偏振态的影响进行了理论分析,由于不同偏振态在声光介质中的折射率不同,计算了s偏振光和p偏振光通过声光晶体后的最大偏移距离,同时对两束偏振光经过布拉格衍射进入F-P腔后的输出信号进行了理论分析计算及仿真,并通过实验进行了验证。     

铋掺杂硅酸盐玻璃的制备及性能表征

针对铋掺杂的硅酸盐玻璃进行了研究,用不断提高玻璃系统中碱性氧化物含量的方法研究掺铋硅酸盐玻璃的性能,最终通过各种表征发现碱性氧化物可以提高Bi离子的发光效果,并且这种近红外荧光是由Bi5 引起的.铋掺杂的硅酸盐玻璃具有良好的光学性能,将成为未来超宽带光纤放大器的增益介质.
