A methodology is presented for detecting damage of structural systems maintaining a linear response. A single frequency response function measured at several frequencies along with a correlated analytical model of the undamaged structure are used to detect and assess damage. The method is directed toward situations where the number of damaged elements is generally known to be limited. A computationally efficient method of recalculating a single receptance is presented. Numerical results for a two-dimensional structural frame are presented to validate and assess the proposed approach. Issues for the development of the approach are discussed.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To measure D2 dopamine receptors in the striatum in patients with multiple system atrophy and progressive supranuclear palsy by I 3-iodo-6-methoxybenzamide labeled with iodine I 123 (123I-IBZM) single photon emission computed tomography and differentiate them from control subjects. DESIGN: Survey with the following as retrospective criterion standards: (1) parkinsonism, (2) negative apomorphine test, and (3) no or only slight reaction to dopaminergic medication. SETTING: Ambulatory or hospitalized care in an academic referral center. PATIENTS AND CONTROL SUBJECTS: Twenty-one patients with parkinsonism not responding to dopaminergic medication (17 with multiple system atrophy and four with progressive supranuclear palsy) and 21 control subjects without parkinsonism. INTERVENTION: In vivo imaging by single photon emission computed tomography using the D2 dopamine receptor specific radioligand 123I-IBZM. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Striatum/occipital cortex ratio of count rate density as semiquantitative measurement for striatal D2 dopamine receptor density. RESULTS: A highly significant loss of striatal uptake of 123I-IBZM was observed in the patients in comparison to the control subjects with little or no overlap between values. CONCLUSIONS: The hypothesized loss of D2 receptors in multiple system atrophy has been confirmed. Use of 123I-IBZM single photon emission computed tomography may be a cost-effective alternative to positron emission tomography in the differential diagnosis of parkinsonism and in the selection of patients for dopaminergic therapy.  相似文献

The recognition potential (RP) was distinguished from P3 and eye blink responses by its sensitivity to visual area stimulated. Images were flashed in upper and lower hemifields. Current source density profiles were computed, using 16 midline scalp electrodes. For P3 and eye blink profiles, the hemifield stimulated was not a significant factor. For the recognition potential, upper and lower field stimulation produced radically different profiles. An improved recognition potential signal was obtained by a new mathematical procedure. It used the difference in sensitivity to visual area stimulated to reject P3 and eye blink responses.  相似文献

These errors are explained and corrected in the correction.] Alcohol has been shown to affect performance on tasks associated with executive functioning. However, studies in this area have generally been limited to a single dose or gender or have used small sample sizes. The purpose of this study was to provide a more nuanced and systematic examination of alcohol's effects on commonly used tests of executive functioning at multiple dosages in both men and women. Research volunteers (91 women and 94 men) were randomly assigned to one of four drink conditions (alcohol doses associated with target blood alcohol concentrations of .000%, .050%, .075%, and .100%). Participants then completed three tasks comprising two domains of executive functioning: two set shifting tasks, the Trail Making Test and a computerized version of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Task, and a response inhibition task, the GoStop Impulsivity Paradigm. Impaired performance on set shifting tasks was found at the .100% and .075% dosages, but alcohol intoxication did not impair performance on the GoStop. No gender effects emerged. Thus, alcohol negatively affects set shifting at moderately high levels of intoxication in both men and women, likely attributable to alcohol's interference with prefrontal cortex function. Although it is well established that alcohol negatively affects response inhibition as measured by auditory stop-signal tasks, alcohol does not appear to exert a negative effect on response inhibition as measured by the GoStop, a visual stop-signal task. Emission spectra have been recorded for hot water at temperatures up to 1550 degreesC. Separate spectra have been recorded in the 800-1900 and 1800-2500 cm-1 range. Assignments are made using a linelist generated from high accuracy, variational nuclear motion calculations, and energy differences. The spectra contain many hot bending transitions of the form (0n0)-(0n-10), where states up to n = 6 have been assigned. Detailed analysis shows that the spectra contain lines from 34 separate vibrational bands including other hot bending transitions and the difference bands (030)-(100), (110)-(020), (011)-(020), (100)-(010), (040)-(110), (040)-(011), (120)-(030), (012)-(030), (011)-(100), (110)-(001), and (101)-(110), all of which have not been observed previously. From a total of 8959 lines recorded, 6810 have been assigned; 4556 of these lines are new. These spectra represent the first detection of the (060) vibrational band, for which a band origin of 8870.54 +/- 0.05 cm-1 is determined. The (050) band origin is confirmed as 7542.40 +/- 0.03 cm-1. The assignments extend the range of J and Ka values observed for the bending states, particularly for (050) and (060), where 63 and 27 different rotational levels, respectively, have now been observed; 53 frequencies given in HITRAN are corrected. Twenty years ago, most operative effort was concentrated on elimination of the pivot shift phenomenon. BACKGROUND: Hearts harvested from non-heart-beating donors sustain severe injury during procurement and implantation, mandating interventions to preserve their function. We tested the hypothesis that limiting oxygen delivery during initial reperfusion of such hearts would reduce free-radical injury. METHODS: Rabbits sustained hypoxic arrest after ventilatory withdrawal, followed by 20 minutes of in vivo ischemia. Hearts were excised and reperfused with blood under conditions of high arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) (approximately 400 mm Hg), low PaO2 (approximately 60 to 70 mm Hg), high pressure (80 mm Hg), and low pressure (40 mm Hg), with or without free-radical scavenger infusion. Non-heart-beating donor groups were defined by the initial reperfusion conditions: high PaO2/ high pressure (n = 8), low PaO2/high pressure (n = 7), high PaO2/low pressure (n = 8), low PaO2/low pressure (n = 7), and high PaO2/high pressure/free-radical scavenger infusion (n = 7). RESULTS: After 45 minutes of reperfusion, low PaO2/ high pressure and high PaO2/low pressure had a significantly higher left ventricular developed pressure (63.6 +/- 5.6 and 63.1 +/- 5.6 mm Hg, respectively) than high PaO2/high pressure (40.9 +/- 4.5 mm Hg; p < 0.0000001 versus both). However, high PaO2/high pressure/free-radical scavenger infusion displayed only a trend toward improved ventricular recovery compared with high PaO2/ high pressure. CONCLUSIONS: Initially reperfusing nonbeating cardiac grafts at low PaO2 or low pressure improves recovery, but may involve mechanisms other than decreased free-radical injury.  相似文献

A gene encoding the bacterioferritin subunit (Bfr) of Mycobacterium avium (Ma) subspecies silvaticum has been cloned, sequenced and expressed. The 477-bp open reading frame codes for 159 amino acids, which were shown to share up to 92% identity with the Bfr of five bacterial genera. The recombinant Bfr exhibits serological cross-reactivity with Ma paratuberculosis antigen D, a protein of approx. 20 kDa in cell lysates of Ma paratuberculosis and Ma silvaticum and a protein of 20-22 kDa in sonicates of M. leprae.  相似文献
