Research on achievement goal orientation in sport has relied primarily on traditional statistical methodology to examine group mean differences. Unfortunately, examination of the measurement model is generally ignored prior to means testing. This study reports an application of structural equation modeling (SEM) in testing measurement invariance and latent mean structure of the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ; Duda & Nicholls, 1989) using male and female college students. A confirmatory factor analysis for testing invariance revealed invariant measurement properties and factor structures across gender, indicating that task and ego orientation are similarly conceptualized by male and female students. Subsequent testing of latent mean structures, however, showed significant gender differences with respect to ego orientation, but no difference in task orientation. The SEM procedures used in the present study demonstrate additional construct validity and internal consistency reliability for the TEOSQ and, by confirming its factor structure, provide a sound psychometric basis for its continued use in substantive studies focusing on the comparison of achievement goal orientation across gender.  相似文献

The effects of alpha-tocopherol and beta-tocopherol have been studied in rat and human aortic smooth muscle cells. Alpha-tocopherol, but not beta-tocopherol, inhibited smooth muscle cell proliferation and protein kinase C in a dose-dependent manner, at concentrations ranging from 10 to 50 microM. Beta-tocopherol added simultaneously with alpha-tocopherol prevented both proliferation and protein kinase C inhibition. Protein kinase C inhibition was cell cycle-dependent and it was prevented by okadaic acid, a protein phosphatase inhibitor. Protein kinase C activity measured from aortas of cholesterol-fed rabbits was also inhibited by alpha-tocopherol. By using protein kinase C (PKC) isoform-specific inhibitors and immunoprecipitation reactions it was found that PKC-alpha was selectively inhibited by alpha-tocopherol. Further, an activation of protein phosphatase 2A by alpha-tocopherol was found, which caused PKC-alpha dephosphorylation and inhibition. Ultimately, this cascade of events at the level of cell signal transduction leads to the inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation.  相似文献

In this work, we investigated the immobilization of methylene blue in a methyltrimethoxysilane sol-gel ceramic film on a glassy carbon electrode. Up to a certain saturation level, under our conditions, it was found that the methylene blue was tightly held and did not leach out into aqueous solutions, even with continuous immersion for up to 1 month. The electrochemical behavior of the immobilized methylene blue was then studied. pH variation revealed that there were two distinct redox couples whose existences were pH-dependent. The methylene blue/sol-gel film was also examined as an electrocatalytic system for ascorbic and uric acid oxidations. It was revealed that this system was highly sensitive for ascorbic and uric acid sensing (practical determination limits of 5.00 nM and 1.00 nM for ascorbic acid and uric acid, respectively) and also allowed simultaneous determination of these biomolecules. The simultaneous determination of these two analytes in a human urine sample was demonstrated. The stability of the methylene blue/sol-gel film/glassy carbon electrode sensing system was good, with up to at least a month of continual operation.  相似文献

Monitoring the multivariate coefficient of variation over time is a natural choice when the focus is on stabilising the relative variability of a multivariate process, as is the case in a significant number of real situations in engineering, health sciences, and finance, to name but a few areas. However, not many tools are available to practitioners with this aim. This paper introduces a new control chart to monitor the multivariate coefficient of variation through an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) scheme. Concrete methodologies to calculate the limits and evaluate the performance of the chart proposed and determine the optimal values of the chart's parameters are derived based on a theoretical study of the statistic being monitored. Computational experiments reveal that our proposal clearly outperforms existing alternatives, in terms of the average run length to detect an out‐of‐control state. A numerical example is included to show the efficiency of our chart when operating in practice.  相似文献

A combined retrospective and prospective study of 129 beta-thalassaemia major patients seen between 1965 and 1995 in Sabah Hospital, Kuwait has been carried out. The age range at diagnosis was 2 to 84 months, median 9 months. In approximately 80 per cent, the patients were outcomes of first- or second-cousin marriages. Nine (7 per cent) of the patients were HBsAg positive, while 42 (33 per cent) were hepatitis C seropositive. Eleven (9 per cent) patients had had bone marrow transplantation (BMT). There was no BMT-related mortality, but there were three graft rejections and two cases of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).  相似文献

In recent years, there is a trend in manufacturing industries to produce smaller lot sizes or low volume production. This trend is due to increased emphasis on just-in-time techniques (JIT), synchronous manufacturing, job-shop settings, the reduction of in-process inventory, and costs. The term used to describe such low volume production is “Short Runs Production” or more commonly “Short Runs.” In such an environment, the run of a process is short, usually fewer than 50. Therefore, a principal practical problem is the need to chart a large number of different processes and the consequent large number of charts required. This article discusses proposed multivariate control charts for short runs based on individual measurements and subgrouped data.  相似文献

Well-characterized, chromosome-specific somatic cell hybrid panels are powerful tools for the analysis of the human genome. We have characterized a panel of human x hamster somatic cell hybrids retaining fragments of human chromosome 10 by fluorescence in situ hybridization and associated them to genetic markers. Most of the hybrids were generated by the radiation-reduction method, starting from a chromosome 10-specific monochromosomal hybrid, whereas some were collected from hybrids retaining chromosome 10-specific fragments as a result of spontaneous in vitro rearrangements. PCR was used to score the retention of 57 microsatellite markers evenly distributed along a well-supported framework genetic map containing 149 loci uniquely placed at 69 anchor points (odds exceeding 1,000:1), with an average spacing of 2.8 cM. As an additional resource for genomic studies involving human chromosome 10, we report the cytogenetic localization of a series of YAC and PAC clones recognized by at least one genetic marker. Somatic cell hybrids provide a powerful source of partial chromosome paints useful for detailed clinical cytogenetic and primate chromosome evolution investigations. Furthermore, correlation of the above physical, genetic, and cytogenetic data contribute to an emerging consensus map of human chromosome 10.  相似文献
