Nickel manganite spinel thin films prepared by chemical solution deposition exhibit negative temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values between −3.3 and −4.5%/K. In contrast to bulk thermistors, dense films could be prepared completely within the spinel phase field. Thus, decomposition into the NiO phase and a Mn-rich spinel, which is problematic in bulk ceramics, is minimized in thin films. For films prepared outside of the single-phase field, phase separation cannot always be detected using X-ray diffraction. In such cases, transmission electron microscopy is useful in identifying decomposition. It is found that the lattice parameters for films with compositions ranging between Mn/(Mn+Ni)=0.14 and 0.77 are smaller than the values reported for nickel manganite spinels, suggesting cation deficiency. Single-phase spinel films are compared with single-phase bixbyite films synthesized between 630° and 930°C. The bixbyite phase exhibits lower TCR and lower resistivity (TCR=−3.1 to −3.3%/K and resistivity values=400–1600 Ω·cm) compared with spinel (TCR=−3.6 to −4.1%/K and resistivity values=3500–21 000 Ω·cm). Composite films (achieved by controlling the pyrolysis to create a low local p O2 during annealing) show intermediate values (TCR=−3.0 to −3.8%/K and resistivity values=470–6600 Ω·cm).  相似文献

A bench-scale aqueous enzymatic method was developed to extract corn oil from corn germ from either a commercial corn dry mill or corn germ from a newly-developed experimental enzymatic wet milling process (E-Germ). With both types of germs, no oil was extracted when acidic cellulase was the only enzyme used. Pre-treating dry milled corn germ by heating it in boiling water or microwave pretreatment, followed by enzymatic extraction with the acidic cellulase resulted in oil yields of about 43% and 57%, respectively. A two-step process, combining both acidic cellulase and alkaline protease treatments, with no heat pretreatment, achieved oil yields of 50–65% from dry milled corn germ and 80–90% from E-Germ. Both triploids and gynogenetic diploids (GDs) were produced to clarify the relationship between the sex-chromosome constitution and the expression of sex in the common bell-ring frog, Buergeria buergeri. The sex differentiation of triploids in B. buergeri is quite remarkable. Triploid frogs consisted of three sex genotypes, ZZZ, ZWW and ZZW. All ZZZ triploids were males, and all ZWW triploids were females. It is very interesting that half of the ZZW triploids became female, and the other half became male. The GD frogs consisted of two sex genotypes, ZW and ZZ, which did not differ from the controls in sex differentiation. Since the ratios of ZZ and ZW eggs were significantly different among female parents, it is assumed that most (approximately 80-90%) of the eggs made pre-reductional division in some females and post-reductional division in others during meiosis. It seems that ZW eggs were produced by the occurrence of recombination between the centromere and the sex-determining genes in B. buergeri. It was also found that the number of Z chromosomes in each cell of these triploids and GDs agreed with that of the nucleoli in each cell.  相似文献

Growing interest in soft robotics, stretchable electronics, and electronic skins has created demand for soft, compliant, and stretchable electrodes and interconnects. Here, dielectrophoresis (DEP) is used to assemble, align, and sinter eutectic gallium indium (EGaIn) microdroplets in uncured poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) to form electrically conducting microwires. There are several noteworthy aspects of this approach. 1) Generally, EGaIn droplets in silicone at loadings approaching 90 wt% remain insulating and form a conductive network only when subjected to sintering. Here, DEP facilitates assembly of EGaIn droplets into conductive microwires at loadings as low as 10 wt%. 2) DEP is done in silicone for the first time, enabling the microwires to be cured in a stretchable matrix. 3) Liquid EGaIn droplets sinter during DEP to form a stretchable metallic microwire that retains its shape after curing the silicone. 4) Use of liquid metal eliminates the issue of compliance mismatch observed in soft polymers with solid fillers. 5) The silicone–EGaIn “ink” can be assembled by DEP within the crevices of severely damaged wires to create stretchable interconnects that heal the damage mechanically and electrically. The DEP process of this unique set of materials is characterized and the interesting attributes enabled by such liquid microwires are demonstrated.  相似文献

This paper presents the analysis of voltage sag data collected over several years at an industrial customer's corporate campus. Facilities on the campus include office buildings, pilot plants, R&D laboratories, chiller plants and boiler plants. The paper examines the “cause and effect” of voltage dips to the processes at the campus. It also details what the utility and the industrial customer did, or is doing, to mitigate additional dips to the campus. Abstract.  The likelihood function of a seasonal model, Y t  =  ρ Y t − d  +  e t as implemented in computer algorithms under the assumption of stationary initial conditions is a function of ρ which is zero at the point ρ  = 1. It is a smooth function for ρ in the above seasonal model with a well-defined maximum regardless of the data-generating mechanism. Gonzalez-Farias (PhD Thesis, North Carolina State University, 1992) proposed tests for unit roots based on maximizing the stationary likelihood function in nonseasonal time series. We extend it to seasonal time series. The limiting distribution of seasonal unit root test statistics based on the unconditional maximum likelihood estimators are shown. Models having a single mean, seasonal means, and a single-trend variable across the seasons are considered.  相似文献

This study introduces a new approach of liquid encapsulation using an atmospheric pressure plasma (APP). The technique is similar to interfacial polymerization, though here one phase is liquid (that contains unsaturated C═C bonds) and the other phase is plasma (that contains free radicals). When combined, the atmospheric plasma can induce surface polymerization of an acrylate-based liquid, resulting in a thin polymeric skin on top of the liquid. Measurements with an atomic force microscope and a spectroscopic ellipsometer estimate the thickness of the skin formed on top of di(ethylene glycol) diacrylate to be 40–50 nm. To demonstrate an application of this method, we encapsulated hemispherical capsules of reactive adhesives on a glass substrate. These adhesives are based on thiol-acrylate and thiol-acrylate-epoxy systems that react in the presence of a strong base catalyst. Plasma-induced polymerization can encapsulate, immobilize, and isolate separate droplets of resin and the catalyst in a latent (nonreactive) state. These capsules remain latent until they rupture in response to physical contact. A tensile testing machine reports an adhesive strength of ~ 2 MPa for the formulated resins after curing. The capsules reported here may be useful for storing functional liquids for just-in-time release, such as contact-sensitive adhesives, on-demand lubricants, or self-healing agents. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
