Monodisperse 35 nm FeO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized and oxidized in a dry air atmosphere into core/shell FeO/Fe(3)O(4) NPs with both FeO core and Fe(3)O(4) shell dimensions controlled by reaction temperature and time. Temperature-dependent magnetic properties were studied on FeO/Fe(3)O(4) NPs obtained from the FeO NPs oxidized at 60 and 100 °C for 30 min. A large exchange bias (shift in the hysteresis loop) was observed in these core/shell NPs. The relative dimensions of the core and shell determine not only the coercivity and exchange field but also the dominant reversal mechanism of the ferrimagnetic Fe(3)O(4) component. This is the first time demonstration of tuning exchange bias and of controlling asymmetric magnetization reversal in FeO/Fe(3)O(4) NPs with antiferromagnetic core and ferrimagnetic shell.  相似文献

For functions that are best described with spherical coordinates, the three-dimensional Fourier transform can be written in spherical coordinates as a combination of spherical Hankel transforms and spherical harmonic series. However, to be as useful as its Cartesian counterpart, a spherical version of the Fourier operational toolset is required for the standard operations of shift, multiplication, convolution, etc. This paper derives the spherical version of the standard Fourier operation toolset. In particular, convolution in various forms is discussed in detail as this has important consequences for filtering. It is shown that standard multiplication and convolution rules do apply as long as the correct definition of convolution is applied.  相似文献

Nontarget analysis and identification of unknown polyhalogenated compounds is important in acquiring a thorough picture of the present pollution status as well as for identifying emerging environmental problems. Such analyses usually require the application of electron ionization mass spectrometry because the resulting mass spectra frequently allow for compound identification. When quadrupoles are used as mass separators, the full scan technique often suffers from low sensitivity along with nonspecificity for polyhalogenated trace compounds which often result in interference by matrix compounds. We have developed a novel nontarget gas chromatography/electron ionization-mass spectrometry-selected ion monitoring (GC/EI-MS-SIM) method that overcomes these sensitivity and selectivity issues. Our method is based on the fact that the molecular ions and isotope patterns of polyhalogenated compounds involve the most relevant primary information with regard to the structure of polyhalogenated compounds. Additionally, the retention times of polyhalogenated compounds generally increase with increasing molecular weight. The retention time range of polyhalogenated compounds was divided in three partly overlapping segments of 112 u (segment A: m/z 300-412; segment B: m/z 350-462; segment C: m/z 450-562) that were screened in eight GC runs consisting of 15 consecutive SIM ions. This method was tested with a passive water sampler extract known to contain over 30 polyhalogenated compounds according to the sensitive analysis by GC/electron capture negative ion (ECNI)-MS. While none of these polyhalogenated compounds could be detected by GC/EI-MS in full scan mode, our nontarget GC/EI-MS-SIM method allowed for the detection of 38 polyhalogenated compounds. Only seven could be identified by means of reference standards while more than 15 of the unknowns could be traced back to at least the class of compounds based on the mass spectrometric data from the nontarget SIM runs. All compounds identified originated from halogenated natural products. The nontarget GC/EI-MS-SIM method combines the high sensitivity obtainable with quadrupole systems for trace analysis with the structural information essential for the identification of unknown pollutants.  相似文献

With the recent trend of company acquisitions and mergers, it is likely that the company that results from a merger will own multiple facilities with overlapping manufacturing capabilities. By shifting the production of parts to different plants, capacity can be better utilized, and the overall cost to the company can be reduced. This paper addresses the sourcing decisions of allocating parts to several internal facilities or to an external supplier. This multiple-plant sourcing problem (MPSP) is modeled as a multiple-choice multidimensional knapsack problem that considers the capacity of each facility and the costs associated with supplying a part at each facility and externally. We present results from an analysis of two-, three-, and four-facility MPSP models and find that the two-facility model is the most difficult to solve. Additionally, we model extensions that incorporate allocating a part to more than one facility with various inventory strategies, and consider how these extensions affect the sourcing decisions.  相似文献

A trimethylsilane-based coating was investigated as a pretreatment for Al-2024 T3 in a novel Mg-rich primer corrosion prevention system. SiC-based thin films were deposited onto Al substrates by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). A screening study of the pressure (P) dependence of films deposited at 350 °C showed an increase in growth rate from 0.6 to 1.9 Torr. A second screening study where P was fixed at 1.9 Torr and temperature (T) was varied from 125 to 550 °C showed decreasing growth rates with increasing temperature with an apparent transition around 300 °C. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of the SiC-based films on Al-2024 after exposure to a corrosive environment (i.e., dilute Harrison solution) indicated that samples coated using SiC-based films exhibit higher low frequency impedance (i.e., 100–1000× higher) than bare Al-2024 with open circuit potential remaining 0.1 V higher for the former suggesting the SiC-based films slow the corrosion process. A Mg-rich primer was coated onto the SiC on Al-2024 with the galvanic function of the system determined by EIS. As compared to SiC on Al-2024, a similar behavior for the low frequency impedance was observed for the Mg-rich primer-coated samples with some films exhibiting 1E + 8 Ω at 0.1 Hz indicating a strong barrier property. Initial gas jet erosion using acrylic media indicates the Mg-rich primer coatings are removed in preference to the Si–C films—the first step toward demonstrating a permanent pretreatment. When successfully developed and optimized, the value of such a hard, protective coating is the reduction of a three-component coatings system (i.e., pretreatment, primer, and topcoat) to a two-component system (i.e., primer and topcoat).  相似文献

Incorporation of unnatural amino acids into recombinant proteins represents a powerful tool for protein engineering and protein therapeutic development. While the processing of the N-terminal methionine (Met) residues in proteins is well studied, the processing of unnatural amino acids used for replacing the N-terminal Met remains largely unknown. Here we report the effects of the penultimate residue (the residue after the initiator Met) on the processing of two unnatural amino acids, L-azidohomoalanine (AHA) and L-homopropargylglycine (HPG), at the N terminus of recombinant human interferon-beta in E. coli. We have identified specific amino acids at the penultimate position that can be used to efficiently retain or remove N-terminal AHA or HPG. Retention of N-terminal AHA or HPG can be achieved by choosing amino acids with large side chains (such as Gln, Glu, and His) at the penultimate position, while Ala can be selected for the removal of N-terminal AHA or HPG. Incomplete processing of N-terminal AHA and HPG (in terms of both deformylation and cleavage) was observed with Gly or Ser at the penultimate position.  相似文献

Project portfolio management offices (PPMOs) are a subset of project management offices (PMOs) that handle collections of multiple single projects and programmes, i.e. portfolios. PPMOs are centralised organisational units that cater to the demands of various stakeholders by performing specialised tasks. They are initiated by their organisation's leadership in response to increasing management challenges originating from project portfolios. Although there has been considerable research on PMOs in general, not only a clear understanding of multi-project PMOs' activity patterns set in specific contexts like project portfolio management, but also both existence and mode of multi-project PMOs' contribution to successful performance are still lacking. By quantitatively analysing PPMOs in 278 portfolios, we identify three different activity patterns, which are interpreted as distinctive roles. We show a significant positive effect of PPMOs' coordinating and controlling roles on performance in terms of project portfolio management quality, which is a predictor of portfolio success.  相似文献

Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids (ω-3’s), whether from fish oils, flax or supplements, can protect against cardiovascular disease. Finding plant-based sources of the essential ω-3’s could provide a sustainable, renewable and inexpensive source of ω-3’s, compared to fish oils. Our objective was to develop a rapid test to characterize and detect adulteration in sacha inchi oils, a Peruvian seed containing higher levels of ω-3’s in comparison to other oleaginous seeds. A temperature-controlled ZnSe ATR mid-infrared benchtop and diamond ATR mid-infrared portable handheld spectrometers were used to characterize sacha inchi oil and evaluate its oxidative stability compared to commercial oils. A soft independent model of class analogy (SIMCA) and partial least squares regression (PLSR) analyzed the spectral data. Fatty acid profiles showed that sacha inchi oil (44% linolenic acid) had levels of PUFA similar to those of flax oils. PLSR showed good correlation coefficients (R2 > 0.9) between reference tests and spectra from infrared devices, allowing for rapid determination of fatty acid composition and prediction of oxidative stability. Oils formed distinct clusters, allowing the evaluation of commercial sacha inchi oils from Peruvian markets and showed some prevalence of adulteration. Determining oil adulteration and quality parameters, by using the ATR-MIR portable handheld spectrometer, allowed for portability and ease-of-use, making it a great alternative to traditional testing methods.  相似文献
