Palm olein is currently considered to be one of the best options for deep-frying, but as with any other edible oil, during frying, deteriorative reactions produce off-flavor compounds that reduce the oil sensory quality. This study assessed the odor significance of the volatiles formed during 136 h of deep-frying a chicken product in palm olein, aiming to identify potential markers of the oil sensory quality during frying. The volatiles were isolated by solid phase microextraction, and identified by GC–MS. Trained judges assessed the odor intensity and quality of the volatiles formed during frying, evaluating the GC effluents through a GC–olfactometry technique called OSME. Two hundred and eight volatiles were detected by GC/MS in the palm olein after 136 h frying. Of these, heptanal, t-2-heptenal, decanal and t-2-undecenal were identified as potential markers of the sensory quality of palm olein during frying. Hexanal, pentanal and pentane, usually associated with lipid oxidation, showed no odor impact in the GC effluents, and were thus proven not to be good markers of the sensory quality of palm olein when used for a long frying period.  相似文献

Three large‐pore zeolites, Beta with Si/Al ratios of 25 and 35 and Mordenite with an Si/Al ratio of 30, were studied in the conversion of o‐xylene at 493 K. Maximum conversion was achieved by the catalyst with the highest Si/Al ratio due to faster diffusion of the isomer inside the zeolite channels because of the lower acidity of the solid even with larger crystal size. A kinetic study was then carried out over this catalyst between 473 and 513 K in a batch reactor in the liquid phase. The activation energies obtained do not indicate the presence of diffusional constraints towards any isomer. Finally, the kinetic model obtained was simulated in a fixed‐bed reactor and compared to ZSM‐5 in the temperature range from 493 to 533 K. An increment in p‐xylene production of 20 % on average was obtained.  相似文献

The production of thematic maps from remotely sensed images requires the application of classification methods. A great variety of classifiers are available, producing frequently considerably different results. Therefore, the automatic extraction of thematic information requires the choice of the most appropriate classifier for each application. One of the main objectives of the research described in this article is to evaluate the performance of supervised classifiers using the information provided by the application of uncertainty measures to the testing sets, instead of statistical accuracy indices. The second main objective is to show that the information provided by the uncertainty measures for the training set may be used to assess and redefine the sample sites included in this set, in order to improve the classification results. To achieve the proposed objectives, two supervised classifiers, one probabilistic and another fuzzy, were applied to a very high spatial resolution (VHSR) image. The results show that similar conclusions on the classifiers’ performance are obtained with the uncertainty measures and the traditional accuracy indices obtained from error matrices. It is also shown that the redefinition of the training set based on the information provided by the uncertainty measures may generate more accurate outputs.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To determine if induction of heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70), a stress protein that plays a cytoprotective role and inhibits cell death in response to various stimuli, will protect thymocytes and T-cell clones from radiation-induced apoptosis, and to define the mechanism of such protection. DESIGN: Thymocytes from BALB/c mice or T-lymphocyte clones were incubated at 43 degrees C for 1 hour to induce HSP 70, then irradiated. Control cells were irradiated but not heated. Fragmentation of DNA was quantitated, and p53, bax, and bcl-2 expression was analyzed at various times by the Western blot method. RESULTS: Only heated cells expressed HSP 70. The induction of HSP 70 increased basal apoptosis but significantly decreased radiation-induced apoptosis. Furthermore, introduction of an HSP 70 antisense oligomer prior to heating reversed the protective effect of HSP 70. Induction of HSP 70 in T-cell clones with sodium arsenite had a similar protective effect against radiation-induced apoptosis. Irradiation induced p53 and markedly up-regulated bax. The expression of p53 peaked at 4 hours and preceded maximal bax induction. Induction of HSP 70 prior to irradiation suppressed p53 and significantly decreased bax levels. Levels of bcl-2 were unaffected. CONCLUSIONS: Our data show that HSP 70 induction protects thymocytes from radiation-induced apoptosis by down-regulating p53 and bax expression. The induction of HSP 70 may represent a novel mechanism by which the immunosuppressive effects and the associated infectious complications of radiation therapy can be minimized.  相似文献

Hybrids based on cellulose acetate (CA) and SiO2 were prepared by hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). More rigid films were obtained with an inorganic phase incorporation. The thermal stability of the hybrids was similar to pure CA. Composite membranes were prepared by casting of CA/TEOS mixtures onto a poly(vinylidene fluoride) support. The water permeation decreased with the incorporation of the inorganic phase. Hybrid membranes were able to retain solutes with a molar mass of ?9000 g/mol (?98% retention). Hybrids were submitted to biodegradation tests. The presence of the inorganic phase did not inhibit the growth of Thricoderma harzianum fungi. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Short silica fiber (SF) content on the mechanical and morphological properties of composites based on nylon 6 and rubber-toughened nylon 6 matrices was examined. Binary nylon 6/SF and ternary [nylon 6/EPDM-g-MA (ethylene–propylene–diene grafted with maleic anhydride)/SF] composites containing 0–20 wt% SF were formulated. The flexural modulus increased with the SF content at all fiber compositions investigated; however, the value of this property gradually diminished when 20 wt% rubber was added to the polymer. Notched Izod impact strength of 80/20 nylon 6/EPDM-g-MA blend was reduced up to 50% with the addition of 5 wt% SF. However, these composites still retained good stiffness and toughness and presented a good interfacial adhesion between the phases. The results suggest that silica fibers can be employed as an alternative reinforcement of nylon 6 matrices, resulting in materials with useful properties.  相似文献

Oblique magnetic resonance imaging of the temporal lobe (tilted orientation) requires a stable reference line with minimum variability. In the clinical setting, where several observers carry out examination of the patients, there is a need to assure minimum inter-observer variability, in order to obtain comparable tilted anatomical planes. This is particularly relevant when performing quantitative imaging (qMRI) of the hippocampus, amygdala and para-hippocampal cortices. In this study, eight experienced observers tested the stability of four sagittal reference lines by manually tracing the posterior commissure-obex (PC-OB) line, the line tangential to the anterior surface of the pons at its most convex point and the lines orthogonal to the main axis of both hippocampi, in ten exams of healthy subjects. The stability of the tracing was assessed by comparing the inter-observer variability expressed by the variances of the measurements. The observers performance was assessed by comparing the precision of the tracing for each line. We tested the results statistically using Bartletts test (analysis of the variances of the four lines) followed by Fischer–Snedecor (in order to compare the two lines that had the smallest variance). The PC-OB line and the line tangential to the anterior surface of the pons had smaller inter-observer variances than the orthogonal lines (p<0.01). In addition, the variance of the PC-OB line was smaller than that of the line tangential to the pons (p<0.01). There were no significant intra-observer differences in the precision of tracing of any of the lines. We show quantitatively that the PC-OB line is the scout reference that yields the smallest inter-observer variance. Thus, this line should be preferred to improve the reproducibility of temporal lobe imaging while performing tilted coronal and axial sequences, to make quantitative assessments of the hippocampus, amygdala and para-hippocampal cortices.  相似文献

We developed and implemented an intelligent control system to be used in an extractive distillation column that produces anhydrous ethanol using ethylene glycol as solvent. The concept of artificial neural networks (ANN) was used to predict new setpoints after disturbances, and proved to be a fast and feasible solution. The developed control system receives data from temperature, flowrate and composition measurements of the azeotrope feed, and the ANN estimates the new set-points of the controllers to maintain 99.5 mol% of ethanol at the top and less than 0.1mol% at the bottom; feed composition was also estimated using an ANN. All ANN were trained to provide output data corresponding to an optimized operating condition. The results showed that the intelligent control system can predict a new operating condition for any disturbance in the column feed and presented superior performance when compared with the control system without ANN.  相似文献

Transthyretin (TTR) proteolysis has been recognized as a complementary mechanism contributing to transthyretin-related amyloidosis (ATTR amyloidosis). Accordingly, amyloid deposits can be composed mainly of full-length TTR or contain a mixture of both cleaved and full-length TTR, particularly in the heart. The fragmentation pattern at Lys48 suggests the involvement of a serine protease, such as plasmin. The most common TTR variant, TTR V30M, is susceptible to plasmin-mediated proteolysis, and the presence of TTR fragments facilitates TTR amyloidogenesis. Recent studies revealed that the serine protease inhibitor, SerpinA1, was differentially expressed in hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs) from ATTR patients. In this work, we evaluated the effects of SerpinA1 on in vitro and in vivo modulation of TTR V30M proteolysis, aggregation, and deposition. We found that plasmin-mediated TTR proteolysis and aggregation are partially inhibited by SerpinA1. Furthermore, in vivo downregulation of SerpinA1 increased TTR levels in mice plasma and deposition in the cardiac tissue of older animals. The presence of TTR fragments was observed in the heart of young and old mice but not in other tissues following SerpinA1 knockdown. Increased proteolytic activity, particularly plasmin activity, was detected in mice plasmas. Overall, our results indicate that SerpinA1 modulates TTR proteolysis and aggregation in vitro and in vivo.  相似文献
