Gas analogue of the Ganna effect under conditions of two-electrode discharge of continuous current

The existence of a mode of periodic movement of a volumetric charge of negative sign from an electrode with a negative potential (600–4500 V) in the direction of the other earthed electrode was discovered. The experiments were carried out with the discharge of a constant current in the presence of the pressure of air (10^?3–10 Torr) in tubes with various internal diameters (3.8, 6.6, 15.5, 20.1, and 25.8 mm) but with the same (510 mm) distance between the electrodes. The opportunity for the appearance of the mode of periodic discharge was provided by the connection to the potential output of a source of several condensers of large capacity (300 μF). It is supposed that the discovered periodic mode of the gas discharge is similar to the Gann effect—the movement of a volumetric charge of negative sign in the volume of a semiconductor.

The structure, hardness, phase composition, and wear intensity of the nitrided layer on steel 12Kh18N10T formed in a medium of nitrogen at a pressure of 160 MPa at a temperature of 1150°C with a hold of 3 h are studied.

Catalytic plasma anodization of single-crystal 6H-SiC structures

The use of catalytic plasma anodization to obtain oxides on the surface of SiC is an original method, hitherto unused. This method can significantly reduce the process temperature, increase the oxide growth rate, and improve the properties of the structures, giving a low density of surface states and a small fixed charge in the oxide. Investigation of Ti-Ge/GaAs Schottky barrier contacts

The effect of germanium content in a titanium film, as well as treatment methods and conditions, on the Schottky barrier height (φ_b) and the ideality factor (n) for Ti-Ge / GaAs contacts were investigated. It is shown that photon treatment provides better contacts than thermal treatment.     

Influence of residual solvent on physical and chemical properties of amorphous glassy polymer films

One of the most important areas of current research is the study of the influence of the prehistory of samples of amorphous glassy polymers on their physical and chemical properties. The study of structural changes by high temperature IR spectroscopy compared with of quantum chemical calculations allows for an understanding of the mechanism and nature of such processes. The changes in the structure of the polymer chain depending on the type of solvent used in the formation of the films are demonstrated using the examples of several different classes of polymers. In turn, the impact of such changes in the structure on the physical and chemical properties of the polymer films is demonstrated. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry     

Metallographic examination of the structure of the metal of cold arms of the nineteenth-early twentieth centuries made at the Zlatoust arms factory

Data are given concerning the structure and the chemical composition of carbon steel used for making cold arms, which was produced at the Zlatoust arms factory in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The results of the analysis of the structure of metal demonstrates the general trend of the development of metallurgy both at the Ural plants and in the world: from the creation of the crucible methods of production of cast steel to the mass production of cast steel by the Bessemer and Martin methods.
