Antibacterial nylon 6 (PA6) nanofibers have been prepared in one-step procedure using Nanospider technology. Chlorhexidine (CHX), 1-dodecyltrimethylamonium bromide (DTAB) and benzyltrimethylamonium bromide (BTAB) have been used as antibacterial agents. Samples were characterized by a series of analytical and testing methods to investigate the surface chemistry, zeta potential, structure, morphology, phase composition, mechanical properties and antibacterial activity. Experimental characterization has been combined with molecular modeling to analyze the interaction of nanofibers with modifying molecules for better understanding the effect of nanofibers modification on their properties. Antibacterial modification of PA6 led to significant changes of zeta potential (from -31 mV for PA 6 up to -49 mV for PA6/BTAB), changes in phase composition (decrease of alpha phase content and increase of gamma phase content for PA6/BTAB and PA6/CHX) and to significant increase of fiber diameter for PA6/BTAB. Antibacterial modification resulted in the straightening of nanofibers and to higher permeability of nanofiber textile for all investigated samples. Tensile tests showed the the increase of Young modulus for all the investigated samples. All the modified samples: PA6/DTAB, PA6/BTAB and PA6/CHX exhibit good antibacterial activity.  相似文献

In the present work, we studied the microstructure, phase constitution, and corrosion performance of Al88Pd12, Al77Pd23, Al72Pd28, and Al67Pd33 alloys (metal concentrations are given in at.%). The alloys were prepared by repeated arc melting of Al and Pd granules in argon atmosphere. The as-solidified samples were further annealed at 700 °C for 500 h. The microstructure and phase constitution of the as-solidified and as-annealed alloys were studied by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction. The alloys were found to consist of (Al), ε n (~ Al3Pd), and δ (Al3Pd2) in various fractions. The corrosion testing of the alloys was performed in aqueous NaCl (0.6 M) using a standard 3-electrode cell monitored by potentiostat. The corrosion current densities and corrosion potentials were determined by Tafel extrapolation. The corrosion potentials of the alloys were found between ? 763 and ? 841 mV versus Ag/AgCl. An active alloy dissolution has been observed, and it has been found that (Al) was excavated, whereas Al in ε n was de-alloyed. The effects of bulk chemical composition, phase occurrence and microstructure on the corrosion behavior are evaluated. The local nobilities of ε n and δ are discussed. Finally, the conclusions about the alloy’s corrosion resistance in saline solutions are provided.  相似文献

A series of novel polystyrene and poly(butyl methacrylate) montmorillonites (MMT-Na) nanocomposite latexes have been successfully prepared by emulsion polymerization. First of all, chemical modification of MMT-Na with a reactive coupling agent (MMT-QS) has been employed for the synthesis of hybrids. Subsequently, in situ seeded emulsion polymerization of hydrophobic vinyl monomers, such as butyl methacrylate and styrene, using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and ammonium persulfate (APS) as surfactant and initiator, respectively, were used for nanocomposite preparation. This technique allowed preparing of stable nanocomposite latexes with high (30–45 wt.%) solids contents and with loading of inorganic particles up to 5 wt.%. The prepared wet dispersions were subsequently characterized by light scattering method. In order to characterize the microstructure of the clay layers, and that of the organoclay in polystyrene and poly(butyl methacrylate) nanocomposites, wide and small angle X-ray analyses (WAXS, SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques were used.  相似文献

A model describing the hydroxyl radical (HO) concentration profile at the boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode, in the presence and absence of organic compounds, is presented. It is shown that this profile depends strongly on the reaction rate constant between the HO and the organic compound. Furthermore, it is shown that the presence of organics affects the current-potential (I-V) curves. In fact, the higher the reaction rate between organics and HO, the higher is the shift of the I-V curves toward lower potential with respect to oxygen evolution. Supposing that water discharge to free hydroxyl radicals on BDD is governed by Nernst equation, this shift of the I-V curves toward lower potentials has been calculated and compared with the experimental data obtained on BDD using two model compounds: methanol and formic acid.  相似文献

Polystyrene (PS)/multi‐wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites were prepared by melt mixing and by coagulation of PS/MWCNT sonicated dispersion. Before mixing and coagulation particles of MWCNT were covered with PS nanospheres by microemulsion polymerization to increase their dispersibility and compatibility with the matrix. Microemulsion polymerization was carried out under sonication in the presence of surfactants and a cross‐linking agent. The structure of modified MWCNT filler was revealed by SEM and TEM microscopy analyses. They show that PS is well grafted onto surface of MWCNT in form of ca 30 nm nanospheres or as ca 3–8 nm PS film layer. Significant changes in properties were recorded mainly for the coagulated sample. Although no shift of Tg was recorded for the melt mixed composite, the coagulated sample shows an increase by 9°C. Also the reinforcing effect of MWCNT was more pronounced for the same method of preparation (further supported by the filler modification). The creep response of this material shifts to longer times not only in the Tg area, but also as low as 70°C below it, which is perceived as an improvement of temperature stability (the same properties kept for a longer time). This was also proved by the increase of creep modulus, and consequently by the prolonged time needed to reach the same tensile creep compliance after aging. POLYM. X‐ray crystallographic study of 2,2′,2″,2′′′,4,4′,4″,4′′′,6,6′,6″,6′′′‐dodecanitro‐1,1′ : 3′1″ : 3″,1′′′‐quaterphenyl (DODECA) has been carried out. Nonbonding interatomic distances of oxygen atoms inside of all the nitro groups are shorter than those corresponding to the intermolecular contact radii for oxygen. By means of the DFT B3LYP/6‐31(d, p) method a difference of 136 kJ mol−1 between the X‐ray and DFT structures of DODECA was found. The bearer of the highest initiation reactivity in its molecule in solid phase should be the nitro group at 4′′′‐position, in contrast to those at 2′‐ or 2″‐positions in its isolated molecule. The most reactive nitro group in the DODECA molecule can be well specified by the relationship between net charges on nitro groups and charges on their nitrogen atoms, both of them for the X‐ray structure. The 15N chemical shift, corresponding to this nitro group for the initiation by impact and shock, correlates very well with these shifts of the reaction centers of the other six “genuine” polynitro arenes.  相似文献

The behavioral and electroantennographic responses of Prorhinotermes canalifrons to its soldier frontal gland secretion, and two separated major components of the secretion, (E)-1-nitropentadec-1-ene and (E,E)-α-farnesene, were studied in laboratory experiments. Behavioral experiments showed that both the frontal gland secretion and (E,E)-α-farnesene triggered alarm reactions in P. canalifrons, whereas (E)-1-nitropentadec-1-ene did not affect the behavior of termite groups. The alarm reactions were characterized by rapid walking of activated termites and efforts to alert and activate other members of the group. Behavioral responses to alarm pheromone differed between homogeneous and mixed groups, suggesting complex interactions. Antennae of both soldiers and pseudergates were sensitive to the frontal gland secretion and to (E,E)-α-farnesene, but soldiers showed stronger responses. The dose responses to (E,E)-α-farnesene were identical for both soldiers and pseudergates, suggesting that both castes use similar receptors to perceive (E,E)-α-farnesene. Our data confirm (E,E)-α-farnesene as an alarm pheromone of P. canalifrons.  相似文献

Whilst the survival rates of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) have increased remarkably over the last decades, the therapy resistance and toxicity are still the major causes of treatment failure. It was shown that overexpression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) promotes proliferation and chemoresistance of cancer cells. In humans, the HO-1 gene (HMOX1) expression is modulated by two polymorphisms in the promoter region: (GT)n-length polymorphism and single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) A(−413)T, with short GT repeat sequences and 413-A variants linked to an increased HO-1 inducibility. We found that the short alleles are significantly more frequent in ALL patients in comparison to the control group, and that their presence may be associated with a higher risk of treatment failure, reflecting the role of HO-1 in chemoresistance. We also observed that the presence of short alleles may predispose to develop chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. In case of SNP, the 413-T variant co-segregated with short or long alleles, while 413-A almost selectively co-segregated with long alleles, hence it is not possible to determine if SNPs are actually of phenotypic significance. Our results suggest that HO-1 can be a potential target to overcome the treatment failure in ALL patients.  相似文献
