This study contrasted the original version of the Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS; Hackman & Oldham, 1975) with the revised version recently proposed by Idaszak and Drasgow (1987). A total of 224 dairy workers completed both versions of the JDS. Results of a confirmatory factor analysis showed that the revised JDS job characteristics items conformed more closely to the hypothesized five-factor structure than did the original JDS items. However, results of {lisrel} analyses indicated that the revised items did not improve the usefulness of the JDS in predicting several outcomes (e.g., satisfaction, internal motivation, and productivity). A process for liftoff patterning has been examined with particular emphasis on the process window for manufacturing. Traditional liftoff techniques, which use reentrant resist profiles and evaporation for metal deposition, have the advantage of simplicity and infinite selectivity; however, the need for directional deposition is in conflict with the step coverage requirement of VLSI. A liftoff process using edge detection (LOPED) is described that can pattern thin film deposits with good step coverage. Some guidelines have been developed for the LOPED process to assure successful patterning. A process window is shown as an example for a specific combination of film thicknesses. This study examined the effects of moving from an open-plan office to one of two alternative office designs: (a) an office with partitions surrounding employee work areas or (b) a low-density open-plan office with more usable space per employee. A total of 65 claims adjusters from three offices of a large insurance organization provided data at two points in time: 3 months before the office changes and 3 months after the changes. An automatic inductive voltage divider (IVD) characterization method that can measure linearity by comparing IVD's with different structures is suggested. Structural models are employed to decompose an error vector into components that represent each divider. Spectroscopic applications of the recently described method of arc lamp stabilization by the addition of a small (<2v) alternating current (AC) to a direct current (DC) arc lamp are discussed. A possible explanation for the improved arc stability is presented. Evaluation of arc formation and spatial behavior is monitored by a series of still photographs of the arc image. Observation of the electrode surfaces in similar photographs provide insight into the distribution of heat in the inter-electrode region. A photodiode array imaging device is used to accurately detect lateral movement of the arc image over prolonged time periods. Advantages of AC stabilized lamps in spectroscopic applications are also presented.  相似文献

Describes the Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) which is intended to (a) diagnose existing jobs to determine whether (and how) they might be redesigned to improve employee motivation and productivity and (b) evaluate the effects of job changes on employees. The instrument is based on a specific theory of how job design affects work motivation, and provides measures of (a) objective job dimensions, (b) individual psychological states resulting from these dimensions, (c) affective reactions of employees to the job and work setting, and (d) individual growth need strength (interpreted as the readiness of individuals to respond to "enriched" jobs). Reliability and validity data are summarized for 658 employees on 62 different jobs in 7 organizations who responded to a revised version of the instrument. This paper describes the functionality, radiation characteristics, and clinical implementation of an implantable MOSFET radiation detector (dosimeter). The dosimeter is powered by radio frequency telemetry eliminating the need for a power source inside the dosimeter. The data can be accessed telemetrically for each treatment day during the course of therapy. The detector has been validated in vitro to confirm its accuracy. Variance between predicted and measured dose in patients is discussed. Factors such as patient setup, treatment plan error, and physiologic motion can affect the accuracy of dose delivery in moving from in vitro to in vivo dose measurements. The initial data suggests that the dosimeters can play a useful role in tracking dose discrepancies, both random and systematic, in patients treated with external beam radiation therapy. The implantable dosimeter can be used, together with the current radiation delivery and planning techniques, to optimize radiation treatment on an individual basis.  相似文献

There are circumstances in which it is useful to know the concentration, or its gradient, of an electroactive product or reactant at some distance from an electrode. Here it is demonstrated that this information is available, in principle, under conditions of semiinfinite planar diffusion, provided that the surface concentration and/or the current are known as functions of time. Several methods of calculation are explored, using the example of linear sweep voltammetry. Some of these methods rely on analytical formulations; others are purely numerical. Concordance of the results of the various methods provides validation of all. A method based on the convolution of the current is especially versatile.  相似文献
