This paper proposes and studies a combined modulation scheme for time hopping ultra wideband (TH-UWB) radio system based on orthogonal pulse position modulation (OPPM) and biorthogonal pulse shape modulation (BPSM). The proposed scheme offers a high data rate with satisfactory system performance by using high-level multi-dimensional modulation schemes. It allows one to increase the number of orthogonal pulses in each pulse position and, consequently, be able to adopt shorter pulse repetition intervals than those used in conventional M-ary OPPM or M-ary biorthogonal PPM (BPPM) modulation schemes. The performance is analyzed by using characteristic function and Gaussian approximation in additive white Gaussian and multipath scenarios, respectively. The proposed scheme reduces multiple access interference considerably in multi-user environments. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The residue number system (RNS) is suitable for DSP architectures because of its ability to perform fast carry-free arithmetic. However, this advantage is over-shadowed by the complexity involved in the conversion of numbers between binary and RNS representations. Although the reverse conversion (RNS to binary) is more complex, the forward transformation is not simple either. Most forward converters make use of look-up tables (memory). Recently, a memoryless forward converter architecture for arbitrary moduli sets was proposed by Premkumar in 2002. In this paper, we present an extension to that architecture which results in 44% less hardware for parallel conversion and achieves 43% improvement in speed for serial conversions. It makes use of the periodicity properties of residues obtained using modular exponentiation.  相似文献

This paper presents a new architecture for VLSI implementation of the one dimensional Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). The architecture uses single filter for generation of both the DWT coefficients and scaling function for orthogonal wavelets as opposed to the conventional two filter approach. For multilevel decomposition, the fold back architecture principle, which interleaves the decimated scaling function back into the filter for subsequent levels, is applied. Limited use of memory in the design enables efficient implementation of the DWT computation in VLSI.  相似文献

Query answers from on-line databases can easily be corrupted by hackers or malicious database publishers. Thus it is important to provide mechanisms which allow clients to trust the results from on-line queries. Authentic publication allows untrusted publishers to answer securely queries from clients on behalf of trusted off-line data owners. Publishers validate answers using hard-to-forge verification objects VOs), which clients can check efficiently. This approach provides greater scalability, by making it easy to add more publishers, and better security, since on-line publishers do not need to be trusted. To make authentic publication attractive, it is important for the VOs to be small, efficient to compute, and efficient to verify. This has lead researchers to develop independently several different schemes for efficient VO computation based on specific data structures. Our goal is to develop a unifying framework for these disparate results, leading to a generalized security result. In this paper we characterize a broad class of data structures which we call Search DAGs, and we develop a generalized algorithm for the construction of VOs for Search DAGs. We prove that the VOs thus constructed are secure, and that they are efficient to compute and verify. We demonstrate how this approach easily captures existing work on simple structures such as binary trees, multi-dimensional range trees, tries, and skip lists. Once these are shown to be Search DAGs, the requisite security and efficiency results immediately follow from our general theorems. Going further, we also use Search DAGs to produce and prove the security of authenticated versions of two complex data models for efficient multi-dimensional range searches. This allows efficient VOs to be computed (size O(log N + T)) for typical one- and two-dimensional range queries, where the query answer is of size T and the database is of size N. We also show I/O-efficient schemes to construct the VOs. For a system with disk blocks of size B, we answer one-dimensional and three-sided range queries and compute the VOs with O(logB N + T/B) I/O operations using linear size data structures.  相似文献

Organic–inorganic hybrids involving cyanate ester and hydroxyl‐terminated polydimethylsiloxane (HTPDMS) modified diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA; epoxy resin) filled with organomodified clay [montmorillonite (MMT)] nanocomposites were prepared via in situ polymerization and compared with unfilled‐clay macrocomposites. The epoxy‐organomodified MMT clay nanocomposites were prepared by the homogeneous dispersion of various percentages (1–5%), and the resulting homogeneous epoxy/clay hybrids were modified with 10% HTPDMS and γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane as a coupling agent in the presence of a tin catalyst. The siliconized epoxy/clay prepolymer was further modified separately with 10% of three different types of cyanate esters, namely, 4,4′‐dicyanato‐2,2′‐diphenylpropane, 1,1′‐bis(3‐methyl‐4‐cyanatophenyl) cyclohexane, and 1,3‐dicyanato benzene, and cured with diaminodiphenylmethane as a curing agent. The reactions during the curing process between the epoxy, siloxane, and cyanate were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared analysis. The results of dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the glass‐transition temperatures of the clay‐filled hybrid epoxy systems were lower than that of neat epoxy. The data obtained from mechanical studies implied that there was a significant improvement in the strength and modulus by the nanoscale reinforcement of organomodified MMT clay with the matrix resin. The morphologies of the siloxane‐containing, hybrid epoxy/clay systems showed heterogeneous character due to the partial incompatibility of HTPDMS. The exfoliation of the organoclay was ascertained from X‐ray diffraction patterns. The increase in the percentage of organomodified MMT clay up to 5 wt % led to a significant improvement in the mechanical properties and an insignificant decrease in the glass‐transition temperature versus the unfilled‐clay systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An intercrosslinked network of hybrid bismaleimide (BMI) modified vinyl ester oligomer–unsaturated polyester matrix systems have been developed. Vinyl ester oligomer (VEO) was used as a toughening agent for unsaturated polyester resin and was added in 2, 4, and 6% (by wt). Benzoyl peroxide was used as curing agent. The VEO‐toughened unsaturated polyester matrix systems were further modified with 5, 10, and 15% (by wt) of bismaleimide. Bismaleimides modified vinyl ester–unsaturated polyester matrices were characterized by mechanical (tensile strength, flexural strength, tensile modulus, flexural modulus, and impact strength), thermal [differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetic analysis (TGA), heat deflection temperature analysis (HDT)] and morphological studies [scanning electron microscope (SEM)] and water absorption. Data obtained from mechanical studies indicated that the introduction of VEO into unsaturated polyester resin improves the fracture toughness. The introduction of BMI into VEO incorporated unsaturated polyester resin enhanced both thermal and mechanical behavior. The scanning electron micrographs of fractured surfaces of VEO‐modified unsaturated polyester systems and BMI modified vinyl ester–unsaturated polyester matrices illustrate the presence of homogeneous morphology. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Among the numerous methods of producing discontinuously reinforced metal-matrix composites, technologies allowing insitu production of the reinforcing phase offer significant advantages from a technical and economic standpoint. The in-situ formation of a ceramic second phase provides greater control of the size and level of reinforcement, yielding better tailorability of the composite properties. As an example, significantly finer ceramic particulates are possible, which minimizes toughness degradation that is traditionally associated with composites containing relatively large particles. Several emerging, innovative technologies in this area are under development. As with any new technology there are technical challenges, but it is believed that these processes have unique capabilities and, thus, they present cost-effective production processes for metal-matrix composites.  相似文献
