A heterogeneous finite element model with randomly distributed inhomogeneities has been developed for the determination of the forming limit diagram (FLD) for thin aluminum sheet material based on the prediction of localized necking. The strength difference between the inhomogeneities and the matrix is ascertained either from the fluctuation of the experimental stress-strain curve or from a micromechanical analysis that uses a representative particle field. By changing the specimen geometry and friction conditions, different stress states (or strain paths) are achieved. A plot of the critical Oyane fracture parameter is used to identify the limit strain state. Also, a plot of equivalent plastic strain rate is used to distinguish the boundary of intense shear bands and hence to identify where to take the measurement point. Both a plane stress model and a three-dimensional (3-D) model are adopted to predict the shear banding phenomenon and hence the FLD. The predicted FLD agrees well with the measurements from a recent round robin experimental FLD involving several independent research laboratories. The Taguchi method is applied to assess how the various parameters involved in the heterogeneous model affect the calculated forming limit strain.  相似文献

The outcome of treatment for bilateral congenital cataracts was studied retrospectively in a group of 51 patients. Two major categories of lens opacities were identified. In the first category, the opacities were extensive and visual impairment was evident early in the first year. These cataracts often occurred in eyes with small corneal diameters and poorly dilating pupils. Postoperative strabismus was nearly universal; nystagmus developed in over 50%; and late onset open-angle glaucoma developed in 8 of the 29 patients studied. Early surgery did not seem to abort the development of nystagmus in this group of patients. In the second category, the lens opacities were partial, often lamellar in configuration, and visual impairment was less severe. Surgery was usually performed after 3 years of age, with good visual results if the opacities were symmetrical and there was no nystagmus. No deprivation amblyopia developed in this group, even when surgery was delayed into the second decade. Strabismus developed postoperatively in about a third, but so far, no delayed open-angle glaucoma has been identified.  相似文献

We employed an anatomically realistic three-dimensional finite-element model to explore several biomechanical variables involved in coring or bone-grafting of a segmentally necrotic femoral head. The mechanical efficacy of several variants of these procedures was indexed in terms of their alteration of the stress:strength ratio in at-risk necrotic cancellous bone. For coring alone, the associated structural compromise was generally modest, provided that the tract did not extend near the subchondral plate. Cortical bone-grafting was potentially of great structural benefit for femoral heads in which the graft penetrated deeply into the superocentral or lateral aspect of the lesion, ideally with abutment against the subchondral plate. By contrast, central or lateral grafts that stopped well short of the subchondral plate were contraindicated biomechanically because they caused marked elevations in stress on the necrotic cancellous bone. Calculated levels of stress were relatively insensitive to variations in the diameter of the graft.  相似文献

We evaluated the effect of halothane anesthesia on the motility of the sphincter of Oddi and simultaneous transsphincteric flow in Australian Brush-tailed possums (Trichosurus vulpecula). Halothane levels in the range of 0.25 to 2% were administered and decreased transsphincteric flow in a dose-dependent manner. Sphincter of Oddi basal pressure was higher than normal, but not in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, halothane anesthesia influenced the sphincter of Oddi motility by decreasing the motility index (mean amplitude multiplied by frequency of contractions). This decrease was dose dependent. These findings indicate that sphincter of Oddi basal pressure is a major component of sphincter of Oddi motility responsible for regulating transsphincteric flow in this species. For studies of the sphincter of Oddi motility in anesthetized Australian Brush-tailed possums, we recommend anesthetic induction with ketamine (50 mg/kg, i.m.) and the inspired halothane level should not exceed 0.75% during the study period, as the effects we have demonstrated were most evident at levels greater than 0.75%. If higher halothane levels are required to maintain satisfactory anesthesia, an alternative anesthetic agent should be considered.  相似文献
