Measurement of dielectric properties of high-absorption materials at microwave frequencies

A method is proposed for measuring the dielectric constant ε′ and dielectric loss ε″ of high-absorption dielectric materials by measuring the reflection of electromagnetic radiation with the aid of an adjustable quarter-wave matching plate of nonabsorbing material close to the dielectric surface. Absorption of electromagnetic radiation in a polar dielectric layer

Conditions are investigated for initiation of nonreflecting absorption of electromagnetic radiation in a polar dielectric layer applied to a reflecting metal substrate.     

Vectorization of raster mechanical drawings on the base of ternary segmentation and soft computing

The problem of automatic conversion of engineering drawings from paper carriers to an electronic vector form is very topical and is not solved yet at an acceptable level. The drawback inherent in many existing approaches lies in the fact that they are based on binary image segmentation. Under the conditions of low image quality, absolutely correct binarization is unattainable. Segmentation should be more flexible. It should divide pixels of the image not only into those belonging to the background and the objects but also take into account the existence of intermediate uncertain states. The purpose of this work is to increase quality of automatic vectorization of drawings having ambiguous situations: badly traced lines, areas of convergence and intersection of lines. The proposed approach includes stages of ternary segmentation of an image and fuzzy synthesis of a skeleton. Presented results of experiments show that, for grayscale and color drawing images of medium and low quality, the proposed approach provides better results than known methods.     

Oxidative metabolic changes, antioxidantion, and platelet activation rat phagocytes during development of experimental specific tuberculous changes

Efficacy and possibility of direct operations on the macular area of the retina in humid (exudative) maculopathies (senile maculodystrophy) is validated theoretically, morphologically, and clinically. A hypothesis on the mechanism of exudative process development in the macular area in degenerative diseases is formulated on the basis of pathohistological analysis of removed subpigmental material. Indications for such operations are defined.     

Possibility of creating liquid lasers on big solar furnace

A model of liquid solar laser on a Big Solar Furnace operating in the pulsed regime is developed. A neodymium-containing liquid based on phosphorus oxychloride (POCL₃-SnCl₄-Na³⁺) is chosen as the active medium. The time dependence of lasing properties is determined for this active medium.     

Reflectionless absorption of superhigh-frequency radiation in solutions of methyl ethyl ketone and methyl isobutyl ketone in <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-heptane
