Recent studies examining oestrogen and progesterone receptor status and the proliferative activity of endometriotic lesions have produced conflicting reports. This study aimed to clarify the receptor status and proliferative activity of eutopic and ectopic endometrium from women with endometriosis and endometrium from normal women. Progesterone and oestrogen receptor expression and proliferative activity were studied in eutopic and ectopic endometrium from 30 women with endometriosis and in endometrium from 30 normal cycling women using microwave-pretreated paraffin-embedded sections stained with an avidin-biotin peroxidase technique. Progesterone and oestrogen receptor expression in the control endometrium did not differ from that of eutopic endometrium from women with endometriosis. Oestrogen receptor expression in ectopic endometrium increased from the proliferative to the late secretory phase. Epithelial progesterone receptor expression decreased during the cycle. Oestrogen receptor expression in both epithelium and stroma of ectopic endometrium was significantly higher than in eutopic endometrium throughout the cycle. In contrast, stromal progesterone receptor expression tended to be reduced in ectopic endometrium compared with eutopic tissue. Epithelial progesterone receptor expression was increased in ectopic endometrium but only in the late secretory phase. Although proliferative activity in the epithelium of control and eutopic endometrium was reduced from the proliferative to the late secretory phase, stromal activity did not vary. The proliferative activity in ectopic endometrium remained low and constant throughout the cycle. In the proliferative and early secretory phases, the proliferative activity of eutopic endometrium was increased compared with ectopic endometrium, but in the late secretory phase, levels were comparable. These findings challenge previous reports which have suggested that oestrogen receptors are reduced in ectopic tissue. A room-based diagnostic x-ray imaging system for routine measurement of radiotherapy patient orientation has been developed. The system consists of a pair of room-mounted x-ray tubes and a portable imager consisting of an orthogonal pair of phosphor screens, a mirror/lens system, a CCD camera, and computer software for comparing images of the patient to reference images. Orthogonal pairs of images can be acquired quickly and with relatively little exposure, allowing correction of patient setup on a daily basis. During protein synthesis, elongation factor G (EF-G) binds to the ribosome and promotes the step of translocation, a process in which tRNA moves from the A to the P site of the ribosome and the mRNA is advanced by one codon. By using three-dimensional cryo-electron microscopy, we have visualized EF-G in a ribosome-EF-G-GDP-fusidic acid complex. Fitting the crystal structure of EF-G-GDP into the cryo density map reveals a large conformational change mainly associated with domain IV, the domain that mimics the shape of the anticodon arm of the tRNA in the structurally homologous ternary complex of Phe-tRNAPhe, EF-Tu, and a GTP analog. The tip portion of this domain is found in a position that overlaps the anticodon arm of the A-site tRNA, whose position in the ribosome is known from a study of the pretranslocational complex, implying that EF-G displaces the A-site tRNA to the P site by physical interaction with the anticodon arm. 相似文献

A recent review of the relevant literature indicates that different approaches to the exploration of nurses' clinical reasoning are being adopted in North America, Australia and the United Kingdom. These differing approaches, which tend to cluster chronologically and which include decision analysis, information processing and skills acquisition theory and their limitations will be outlined; it will be argued that it is through their conflation that nurses' collective understanding of nurses' clinical reasoning is deepened. The author is attempting to develop an international network of nurse scholars interested in clinical reasoning with the aim of achieving this. The purposes of this network will be to facilitate international collaboration to expedite both the growth of knowledge related to nurses' clinical reasoning and the development of programs of international comparative research related to it.
