The effect of a localized SiO2 codoping on the conversion of polycrystalline, MgO-doped Al2 O3 tubes to single-crystal sapphire was investigated. Codoping with SiO2 before sintering intentionally triggered abnormal grain growth, which resulted in the full conversion of tube surfaces to single crystal without adversely affecting densification to a almost pore-free, translucent state. The degree of surface conversion was strongly dependent on experimental variables, which included furnace temperature and codoping amount. Surface-converted tubes had excellent physical properties, which included good thermal cycling resistance and optical properties superior to unconverted, polycrystalline Al2 O3 . 相似文献

α,β‐Unsaturated nitriles have been synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation of a carbonylic compound with malononitrile, assisted by sonochemical irradiation. Two alkaline‐promoted clays (Li+‐ and Cs+‐exchanged saponites) have been employed as catalysts. The influence of the carbonylic compound (benzaldehyde or cyclohexanone) and the use of a solvent on the catalytic activity have been studied. Remarkable increase in the conversion values has been found when the reaction is activated by ultrasound, as compared with the thermal activation. In this green, solvent‐free procedure, α,β‐unsaturated nitriles have been produced in very high yields (97%) when the Cs+‐saponite is used as catalyst. The increase in refractoriness referred to here is usually termed freezing. The study was undertaken to overcome the tendency of pyrometric cones to set or freeze when subjected to prolonged heat treatment when the temperature is more or less fluctuating. The work includes a study of the freezing tendency of some natural clays, of several pottery bodies, and of pyrometric cones. Filtering algorithms are well accepted as a means of speeding up the solution of the consistent labeling problem (CLP). Despite the fact that path consistency does a better job of filtering than arc consistency, AC is still the preferred technique because it has a much lower time complexity. We are implementing parallel path consistency algorithms on multiprocessors and comparing their performance to the best sequential and parallel arc consistency algorithms.(1,2) (See also work by Kerethoet al.
(3) and Kasif(4)) Preliminary work has shown linear performance increases for parallelized path consistency and also shown that in many cases performance is significantly better than the theoretical worst case. These two results lead us to believe that parallel path consistency may be a superior filtering technique.
