A low-noise multibit sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architecture suitable for operation at low oversampling ratios is presented. The ADC architecture uses an efficient high-resolution pipelined quantizer while avoiding loop stability degradation caused by pipeline latency. A 16-b implementation of the architecture, fabricated in a 0.6-μm CMOS process, cascades a second-order 5-b sigma-delta modulator with a four-stage 12-b pipelined ADC and operates at a low 8X oversampling ratio. Static and dynamic linearity of the integrated ADC are improved through the use of dynamic element matching techniques and the use of bootstrapped and clock-boosted input switches. The ADC operates at a 20 MHz clock rate and dissipates 550 mW with a 5 V/3 V analog/digital supply. It achieves an SNR of 89 dB over a 1.25-MHz signal bandwidth and a total harmonic distortion (THD) of -98 dB with a 100-kHz input signal  相似文献

Conventional methods to prepare large‐area graphene for transparent conducting electrodes involve the wet etching of the metal catalyst and the transfer of the graphene film, which can degrade the film through the creation of wrinkles, cracks, or tears. The resulting films may also be obscured by residual metal impurities and polymer contaminants. Here, it is shown that direct growth of large‐area flat nanographene films on silica can be achieved at low temperature (400 °C) by chemical vapor deposition without the use of metal catalysts. Raman spectroscopy and TEM confirm the formation of a hexagonal atomic network of sp2‐bonded carbon with a domain size of about 3–5 nm. Further spectroscopic analysis reveals the formation of SiC between the nanographene and SiO2, indicating that SiC acts as a catalyst. The optical transmittance of the graphene films is comparable with transferred CVD graphene grown on Cu foils. Despite the fact that the electrical conductivity is an order of magnitude lower than CVD graphene grown on metals, the sheet resistance remains 1–2 orders of magnitude better than well‐reduced graphene oxides.  相似文献

This paper presents a new method for the analysis of a wide variety of microwave components like posts, circular junctions, or corners in rectangular waveguides. The method gives the impedance or admittance matrix of the microwave component by applying discrimination between the localized and accessible modes in the indirect mode matching (IMM) formulation. In this way, the method is more simple and versatile than previous modeling techniques where IMM is involved, since no use of a Green's function is required for the coupling between different ports. Furthermore, additional obstacles, like posts at the center of a circular junction, can be considered as different terminations of the corresponding transmission lines. The formulation is given for a two-port as well as a multiport system, and in the present paper numerical demonstration is provided for an abrupt and a step H-plane transition from a rectangular to a radial waveguide, a centrally located H-plane circular post in a rectangular waveguide, and a two-port circular junction between rectangular waveguides. The results are compared with the High Frequency Structure Simulator. In all of the aforementioned cases, the method proved to be fast, very accurate, and easy to implement.  相似文献

A historical perspective of turbo coding and turbo transceivers inspired by the generic turbo principles is provided, as it evolved from Shannon's visionary predictions. More specifically, we commence by discussing the turbo principles, which have been shown to be capable of performing close to Shannon's capacity limit. We continue by reviewing the classic maximum a posteriori probability decoder. These discussions are followed by studying the effect of a range of system parameters in a systematic fashion, in order to gauge their performance ramifications. In the second part of this treatise, we focus our attention on the family of iterative receivers designed for wireless communication systems, which were partly inspired by the invention of turbo codes. More specifically, the family of iteratively detected joint coding and modulation schemes, turbo equalization, concatenated space-time and channel coding arrangements, as well as multi-user detection and three-stage multimedia systems are highlighted.  相似文献

A brief tutorial on the picosecond photoconductive effect is given. The use of picosecond optoelectronics for the characterization of broadband antennas is described. In particular, the transient radiation properties of equiangular-spiral and exponentially tapered coplanar-strip antennas are discussed. The transient radiation behavior and the polarization and radiation patterns of these antennas are easily determined with this measurement technique, without the need for anechoic chambers. Applications of picosecond-duration transient electromagnetic radiation to filter measurements, materials measurements, and scattering studies are discussed  相似文献

The nature of the atomic configuration and the bonding within epitaxial Pt‐graphene films is investigated. Graphene‐templated monolayer/few‐multilayers of Pt, synthesized as contiguous 2D films by room temperature electrochemical methods, is shown to exhibit a stable {100} structure in the 1–2 layer range. The fundamental question being investigated is whether surface Pt atoms rendered in these 2D architectures are as stable as those of their bulk Pt counterparts. Unsurprisingly, a single layer Pt on the graphene (Pt_1ML/GR) shows much larger Pt dissociation energy (?7.51 eV) than does an isolated Pt atom on graphene. However, the dissociation energy from Pt_1ML/GR is similar to that of bulk Pt(100), ?7.77 eV, while in bi‐layer Pt on the graphene (Pt_2ML/GR), this energy changes to ?8.63 eV, surpassing its bulk counterpart. At Pt_2ML/GR, the dissociation energy also slightly surpasses that of bulk Pt(111). Bulk‐like stability of atomically thin Pt–graphene results from a combination of interplanar Pt? C covalent bonding and inter/intraplanar metallic bonding. This unprecedented stability is also accompanied by a metal‐like presence of electronic states at the Fermi level. Such atomically thin metal‐graphene architectures can be a new stable platform for synthesizing 2D metallic films with various applications in catalysis, sensing, and electronics.  相似文献

Eighty beef crossbred steers with an average weight of 493 kg (4·66 kg SD) were allocated at random to one of five treatments to assess the effects of withholding feed and water on carcass shrinkage and meat quality. The five treatments were: slaughter from the feedlot (T1); and 12, 24, 36 and 48 h periods without feed and water prior to slaughter (T2-5).Weights were taken of the live animal and the carcass to monitor shrinkage along with relevant meat quality measurements. There were no treatment differences (P > 0·05) in initial farm weight, but plant weight shrinkage increased from 31gkg(-1) for T1 to 106 g kg(-1) for T5. Warm carcass weight decreased (P < 0·05) from 278·8 kg for T1, to 270·7 kg for T3 and 261·9 kg for T5. Liver, alimentary tract components, hide and head decreased as a proportion of farm weight as time without feed and water increased. Muscle pH at 6 days post mortem was increased (P < 0·05) in T3-5 compared to T1, with the result that muscle colour became darker, and steaks had less drip loss. Shear values increased (P < 0·05) from 6·3 kg in T1 to 7·7 kg in T4 and T5 indicating an increase in muscle toughness as time without feed and water increased. It was concluded that steers lose live weight rapidly within the first 24 h without feed and water, and that these relatively short periods of time (24 h) can have detrimental effects on carcass shrinkage and muscle quality.  相似文献

The principles of the distributed amplifier are applied to realize wide-band monolithic distributed baluns. The technique reported here is based on using the gate-line “termination” of a distributed amplifier topology as the noninverting output and the inherent phase inversion property of the metal-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MESFET) to provide the antiphase output from the drain-line. Closed-form expressions are derived for the two output voltage signals and their respective power gains. The theoretical performance of the balun is then examined as a function of the important MESFET parameters and other circuit parameters. Some practical design considerations are given followed by the measured results of two monolithic prototypes. The first is a basic two-section balun, while the second employs a four-section balun with a three-stage positive gain slope preamplifier to compensate for the increase in gate-line loss with frequency. The gallium sulphide cubane compounds [(Me2EtC)GaS]4 and [(Et2MeC)GaS]4, have been synthesised, and their potential as MOCVD precursors for GaS is discussed. The molecular structure of [(Et2MeC)GaS]4 has been determined by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the vapour phase structure of the GaSe precursor, [(tBu)GaSe]4 has been determined by gas phase electron diffraction and is compared with that previously determined in the solid state by X-ray diffraction.  相似文献
