The development of a tunable vibration absorbing isolator   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper describes a tunable vibration absorbing isolator. The device is based on the liquid inertia vibration eliminator, which is modified so that the frequency at which maximum isolation occurs can be changed in real time. This is achieved by using adjustable pneumatic springs. A theoretical model describing the device is derived using Lagrange's equations. The model is used to design a practical device and experimental results confirm the validity of the model. With the experimental device a roll-off of about 90 dB/decade over a 12 Hz frequency band was achieved.  相似文献

\({BaFe_{4-{x}}Pt_{{x}}Sb_{12}}\) (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2) compounds were prepared by melting and annealing, followed by a spark plasma sintering method. Low-temperature thermoelectric and magnetic properties were investigated based on Seebeck coefficient, electrical and thermal conductivity and magnetization measurements. The structural properties of \({BaFe_{4-{x}}Pt_{{x}}Sb_{12}}\) (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2) compounds were ascertained by powder x-ray diffraction analysis, confirming that all samples have a main phase of a skutterudite structure with the space group Im\({\mathrm {\bar{3}}}\). The lattice parameters obtained, 9.202(5), 9.199(5) and 9.202(1) Å for x = 0, 0.1 and 0.2, respectively, were found consistent with literature. The Seebeck coefficient sign shows that holes are dominant carriers in all compounds. The local maximum Seebeck coefficient was observed around 50 K which may be a trace of paramagnon-drag effect of charge carriers. Thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity measurements were carried out between 4.2 and 300 K. Temperature dependence of electrical resistivity reflects that all samples show semi-metallic behavior in our temperature range of 4.2–300 K. Samples for x = 0.1 and x = 0.2 show Kondo-like behavior. In magnetization measurement, we observe that there are two successive magnetic transitions in Pt-substituted compounds; however, there is only one (transition from a paramagnetic state to long-range magnetic ordering) in Pt-free compounds. In Pt-substituted compounds, the first transition appears at \( T _{ {\rm c}}\) = 48 K. In addition, the second transition is observed at \( T _{ {\rm irr}}\) = 30 K where an intermediate state is observed before the magnetic ordering transforms to an irreversible ferromagnetic state. We concluded that Pt substitution on the Fe side effectual on the thermoelectric and magnetic properties of \({BaFe_{4-{x}}Pt_{{x}}Sb_{12}}\) (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2) compounds.  相似文献

Soil nutrient supply in rangelands depends on the maintenance and performance of soil microbiological communities. In this study we investigated how different rangeland management systems affects the structure and function of soil microbial communities in the clayey grassland and sandy savanna ecosystems, South Africa. These ecosystems differ in climate, soil and vegetation, with the sandy savanna ecosystem being drier, and encroached by bush. Soils were sampled under continuous and rotational grazing systems along a gradient with increasing grazing pressure. Analyses comprised of enzyme activities and phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA). The results revealed that the clayey grassland ecosystem displayed elevated enzyme activities and PLFA contents compared with the drier, sandy savanna ecosystem, irrespective of the rangeland management practices, likely because soil texture played a significant role in maintaining microbial communities. However, when microbial activity was normalized to carbon, nitrogen and microbial biomass, specific enzyme activities were significantly higher in the sandy savanna ecosystem, indicating a more efficient functioning of microbes here. Furthermore, these microbial parameters were more sensitive to grazing pressure in the clayey grassland ecosystem than other chemical or physical soil properties, whereas in the sandy savanna ecosystem this was not the case. Decreasing the grazing pressure on rangeland, as, e.g., done by commercial farmers practicing rotational grazing, appeared to stimulate microbial performance and thus microbial mediated nutrient mineralization with positive consequences on plant growth.  相似文献

Arachidonic acid is suggested to play a role in the expression of long-term potentiation (LTP), a synaptic analog of memory and learning. However, it is unknown whether this free fatty acid is actually released during LTP or not. To address this question, we assayed arachidonic acid with an HPLC system using 9-anthryldiazomethane (ADAM) as a fluorescent probe. High frequency stimulation (tetanic stimulation) to a hippocampal slice from the guinea pig brain caused a huge increase in the release of glutamate from presynaptic terminals and in turn, a gradual increase in the release of arachidonic acid. A similar increase in the release of arachidonic acid was induced by application of glutamate and the increase was inhibited by either the selective AMPA/kainate receptor antagonist, DNQX, or to a lesser extent by the selective NMDA receptor antagonist, APV. These findings suggest that arachidonic acid is produced by activation of ionotropic glutamate receptors involving expression of LTP. Arachidonic acid exerted a long-lasting facilitatory action on synaptic transmission in the CA1 region of rat hippocampal slices and the facilitation occluded the tetanic LTP. Arachidonic acid, thus, appears to be a significant factor for the expression of LTP.  相似文献

This paper combines the results from a preliminary survey of occurrence of Cryptosporidium species in faecal samples from a range of wild mammal species inhabiting mainland Britain with a tabulated literature review of world-wide reports of the parasite in those British mammals. In the literature, C. parvum was reported from 11 wild mammals found in Britain and elsewhere, mainly in rodents but also in insectivores, lagomorphs and ungulates. C. muris has been reported only in wild rodents. The sample survey detected C. parvum in seven additional British species, including carnivores. Overall, 12% of 184 faecal samples tested with a genus-specific monoclonal antibody contained oocysts of C. parvum. The results further emphasise the widespread distribution of Cryptosporidium amongst wild mammals in Britain, highlight the potential for transmission between host species and warn of the possibility of direct exposure for anybody using the countryside for professional or recreational purposes (e.g. farmers and ramblers) to previously unregarded sources of infection. It seems increasingly likely that most, if not all, mammalian species can be infected with C. parvum.  相似文献

A novel cytokine from a thymic stromal cell line (thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP)) promotes the development of B220+/IgM+ immature B cells when added to fetal liver cultures, long term bone marrow cultures, or bone marrow cells plated in semisolid medium. Because the activities of TSLP overlap with those of IL-7 in some in vitro assays, we compared the signaling mechanisms employed by TSLP and IL-7. Proliferation of a factor-dependent pre-B cell line (NAG8/7) in response to either TSLP or IL-7 was inhibited by anti-IL-7R alpha mAbs, suggesting that the functional TSLP receptor complex uses IL-7R alpha. In contrast, three different Abs to the common cytokine receptor gamma-chain had no effect on the response of these cells to TSLP, indicating that the functional TSLP receptor complex does not use the common cytokine receptor gamma-chain. Both cytokines induced activation of Stat5, but only IL-7 induced activation of the Janus family kinases Jak1 and Jak3. In fact, TSLP failed to activate any of the four known Janus family kinases, suggesting that Stat5 phosphorylation is mediated by a novel mechanism. Taken together, these data support the idea that TSLP can make unique contributions to B lymphopoiesis and indicate that it does so by mechanisms distinct from IL-7.  相似文献

This study explored the pattern of memory functioning in 58 patients with chronic schizophrenia and compared their performance with 53 normal controls. Multiple domains of memory were assessed, including verbal and non-verbal memory span, verbal and non-verbal paired associate learning, verbal and visual long-term memory, spatial and non-spatial conditional associative learning, recognition memory and memory for temporal order. Consistent with previous studies, substantial deficits in long-term memory were observed, with relative preservation of memory span. Memory for temporal order and recognition memory was intact, although significant deficits were observed on the conditional associative learning tasks. There was no evidence of lateralized memory impairment. In these respects, the pattern of memory impairment in schizophrenia is more similar in nature to that found in patients with memory dysfunction following mesiotemporal lobe lesions, rather than that associated with focal frontal lobe damage.  相似文献

Trans-4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (HNE) is a potent cytotoxic and genotoxic compound originating from the peroxidation of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Its metabolism has been previously studied in the rat (Alary et al. 1995. Chem. Res. Toxicol., 8: 35-39). In addition to major urinary mercapturic derivatives, some polar urinary metabolites were isolated and could correspond to hydroxylated compounds. 4-Hydroxynonenoic acid (HNA), resulting from the oxidation of the HNE carbonyl group, is a medium chain fatty acid and its omega-hydroxylation might be hypothesized. Therefore, the involvement of the CYP 4A family isoenzymes in the metabolism of [3H]HNE has been investigated in vivo using inducer treatments (fibrates) in wild-type or in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha)-deficient mice. In wild-type mice, but not in PPARalpha (-/-) mice, fibrate treatments resulted in an increase of two urinary metabolites characterized, after HPLC purifications and mass spectrometry analyses, as the omega-hydroxylated metabolite of HNA, i.e., 4,9-dihydroxy-2-nonenoic acid, and its oxidized form, 4-hydroxy-2-nonene-1,9-dicarboxylic acid. The formation of the latter is correlated accurately to laurate hydroxylase activity studied concurrently in microsomes prepared from the liver of these animals. Basal levels of these two metabolites were measured in urine of normal and PPARalpha-deficient mice. These results are in accord with an implication of the P450 4A family in the extended oxidative metabolism of 4-HNE.  相似文献

Adeno-associated virus type 5 (AAV5) is distinct from other dependovirus serotypes based on DNA hybridization and serological data. To better understand the biology of AAV5, we have cloned and sequenced its genome and generated recombinant AAV5 particles. The single-stranded DNA genome is similar in length and genetic organization to that of AAV2. The rep gene of AAV5 is 67% homologous to AAV2, with the majority of the changes occurring in the carboxyl and amino termini. This homology is much less than that observed with other reported AAV serotypes. The inverted terminal repeats (ITRs) are also unique compared to those of the other AAV serotypes. While the characteristic AAV hairpin structure and the Rep DNA binding site are retained, the consensus terminal resolution site is absent. These differences in the Rep proteins and the ITRs result in a lack of cross-complementation between AAV2 and AAV5 as measured by the production of recombinant AAV particles. Alignment of the cap open reading frame with that of the other AAV serotypes identifies both conserved and variable regions which could affect tissue tropism and particle stability. Comparison of transduction efficiencies in a variety of cells lines and a lack of inhibition by soluble heparin indicate that AAV5 may utilize a distinct mechanism of uptake compared to AAV2.  相似文献
