A diagnosability prediction metric is developed for system modeling of component failure rates and unjustified removals. The metric emphasizes ambiguity of system component indications as well as system structure. The metric is evaluated using historical data from the bleed air control system (BACS) on the Boeing737-300. Four design changes are suggested based on improving system diagnosability by changing component functions, modifying indications, and adding or changing sensors. The resulting designs are compared via Boeing's life cycle cost mechanism, DEPCOST model, based on cost improvements. It is shown that system improvements based on this prediction technique will increase the quality of a product since increased diagnosability decreases life cycle costs.  相似文献

This study examined the impact of alcohol use and alcohol-related problems on several domains of life satisfaction (LS) in a sample of 353 college students. Alcohol use was associated with lower general satisfaction and anticipated future satisfaction among women. Female abstainers reported higher general and anticipated future satisfaction than did female heavy drinkers. Female students' alcohol use was unrelated to their academic, family, dating, or social satisfaction. Drinking among men showed a positive, curvilinear relation to social satisfaction but was unrelated to other domains of LS. Alcohol-related problems were associated with decreased LS among both men and women. These findings suggest that alcohol use by young adults is associated with both positive and negative outcomes that may be gender specific. In this paper we report on the design and validation process for the profiled corrugated horn antennas, which feed the bolometer array of a cosmology experiment known as QUaD located at the South Pole. This is a cosmic background radiation polarization project, which demands precise knowledge and control of the optical coupling to the signal in order to map the feeble E- and B-polarization mode structure. The system will operate in two millimeter wavelength bands at 100 and 150 GHz. The imaging horn array collects the incoming signal via on-axis front-end optics and a Cassegrain telescope, with a cold stop in front of the array to terminate side-lobe structure at an edge taper of ?20dB. The corrugated horn design process was undertaken using in-house analytical software tools, based on modal scattering, specially developed for millimeter -wave profiled horn antennas. An important part of the instrument development was the validation of the horn design, in particular to verify low edge taper levels and the required well-defined band edges. Suitable feed horn designs were measured and were found to be in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry of choline phospholipids produces negative ions characteristic of the intact molecule and tandem mass spectrometry of collision-induced decomposition of M-15 anions characterizes both the identity and substituent position of radyl groups. Certain choline phospholipid molecular species which may be of special interest in the generation of platelet activating factor contain a highly unsaturated fatty acyl substituent atsn-2 and an ether radyl group atsn-1; other choline phospholipid molecular species which contain esterified arachidonic acid are of interest as potential sources of arachidonate for eicosanoid biosynthesis. Collisional activated decomposition of 1-hexadecanoyl-2-arachidonoyl-sn-glycerophosphocholine produce abundant carboxylate anions atm/z 303 (arachidonate) andm/z 255 (hexadecanoate) in a ratio of 3∶1, diagnostic for thesn-2 arachidonoyl position. The ether analog, 1-O-hexadecyl-2-arachidonoyl glycerophosphocholine, produces only one collision-induced dissociation ion atm/z 303 and no product ions corresponding to the ether substituent atsn-1. Molecular weight information from the M-15 ion combined with the CID generated carboxylate anions completely characterize these important phospholipids. Precursor ion studies of M-15 anions from glycerophosphocholine lipids indicate that this ion is derived directly from a unique adduct ion formed by attachment of the molecular species to a matrix alkoxide ion, neutralizing the positive charge of the quaternary choline nitrogen. Decomposition of this adduct ion yields a methylated matrix molecule and the nominal M-15 ion.
