A factorial design at two levels and four factors has been carried out in order to investigate the potential for hydrogen generation using Eosin Y-sensitized TiO2/Pt catalyst under visible solar light in presence of triethanolamine (TEOA) as electron donor. The solution pH was found to be a significant parameter, and was maintained at pH 7.0 throughout the investigation. Visible light irradiation time (I-time) showed highest positive effect on hydrogen generation followed by initial Eosin Y concentration (for dye-sensitization) and the TEOA concentration while Pt content (wt %) in TiO2 showed negative effect toward hydrogen generation. Experimental data were analyzed using both “Pareto analysis” as well as conventional regression analysis techniques. A regression function is proposed that satisfactorily predicts hydrogen generation. 相似文献

Two-dimensional steady flow and convective heat transfer of power-law fluids past a semicircular cylinder are investigated in the reported work. The heated semicircular cylinder is placed in an unconfined domain at different angles facing the incoming free-stream flow of power-law fluids having a generalized Prandtl number (Pr) = 100. Particular emphasis is given to studying the effect of angle of incidence (0 ≤ α ≤ 180°) on fluid dynamics and thermal transport around the semicircular object for varying Reynolds number (10 ≤ Re ≤ 40) and power-law index (0.4 ≤ n ≤ 1.8). A finite volume-based method is adopted for the numerical computation. The flow and heat transfer phenomena are visualized through the streamline and isotherm profiles at various operating conditions. Recording rolling leukocyte velocities from intravital microscopic video imagery is a critical task in inflammation research and drug validation. Since manual tracking is excessively time consuming, an automated method is desired. This paper illustrates an active contour based automated tracking method, where we propose a novel external force to guide the active contour that takes the hemodynamic flow direction into account. The construction of the proposed force field, referred to as motion gradient vector flow (MGVF), is accomplished by minimizing an energy functional involving the motion direction, and the image gradient magnitude. The tracking experiments demonstrate that MGVF can be used to track both slow- and fast-rolling leukocytes, thus extending the capture range of previously designed cell tracking techniques. 相似文献

This study compared the potential for interference to medical devices from radio frequency (RF) fields radiated by GSM 900/1800-MHz, general packet radio service (GPRS) 900/1800-MHz, and wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) 1900-MHz handsets. The study used a balanced half-wave dipole antenna, which was energized with a signal at the standard power level for each technology, and then brought towards the medical device while noting the distance at which interference became apparent. Additional testing was performed with signals that comply with the requirements of the international immunity standard to RF fields, IEC 61000-4-3. The testing provides a sense of the overall interference impact that GPRS and WCDMA (frequency division duplex) may have, relative to current mobile technologies, and to the internationally recognized standard for radiated RF immunity. Ten medical devices were tested: two pulse oximeters, a blood pressure monitor, a patient monitor, a humidifier, three models of cardiac defibrillator, and two models of infusion pump. Our conclusion from this and a related study on consumer devices is that WCDMA handsets are unlikely to be a significant interference threat to medical electronics at typical separation distances. 相似文献

We report the formation of a very smooth, continuous and homogeneous diamond-like carbon DLC thin coating over a bare stainless steel surface without the need for a thin Si/Cr/Ni/Mo/W/TiN/TiC interfacial layer. As confirmed by the field-emission scanning electron microscopy, good adhesion is achieved as characterized by (i) the formation of a smooth, continuous film with no pores, (ii) a significant reduction of oxygen in the interfacial layer, and (iii) the development of rich carbon content at the top surface.
