The Sotiel-Coronada abandoned mining district (Iberian Pyrite Belt) produced complex massive sulphide ores which were processed by flotation to obtain Cu, Zn and Pb concentrates. The crude pyrite refuses were roasted for sulphuric acid production in a plant located close to the flotation site, and waste stored in a tailing dam. The present study was focused on the measurements of flow properties, chemical characterization and mineralogical determination of the roasted pyrite refuses with the aim of assessing the potential environmental impact in case of dam collapse. Chemical studies include the determination of the total contaminant content and information about their bio-availability or mobility using sequential extraction techniques. In the hypothetical case of the tailing dam breaking up and waste spilling (ca. 4.54 Mt), a high density mud flow would flood the Odiel river valley and reach both Estuary of Huelva (Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, 1983) and Atlantic Ocean in matter of a couple of days, as it was predicted by numerical simulations of dam-break waves propagation through the river valley based on quasi-2D Saint-Venant equations. The total amount of mobile pollutants that would be released into the surrounding environment is approximately of 7.1·104 t of S, 1.6·104 t of Fe, 1.4·104 t of As, 1.2·104 t of Zn, 1.0·104 t of Pb, 7.4·103 t of Mn, 2.2·103 t of Cu, 1.5·102 t of Co, 36 t of Cd and 17 t of Ni. Around 90-100% of S, Zn, Co and Ni, 60-70% of Mn and Cd, 30-40% of Fe and Cu, and 5% of As and Pb of the mobile fraction would be easily in the most labile fraction (water-soluble pollutants), and therefore, the most dangerous and bio-available for the environment. This gives an idea of the extreme potential risk of roasted pyrite ashes to the environment, until now little-described in the scientific literature.  相似文献

A way to increase the value of LPG cut from petroleum feedstocks is its direct transformation to H2 and aromatic products; these aromatic products, BTX—essentially benzene (B), toluene (T), and C, -aromatics (X)—can be used as raw material for the petrochemical industry or as a blending mixture to enhance the octane number of gasoline. However, these transformations require high temperatures. Thermodynamic data show that the conversion of paraffins into aromatics is favored by increasing the length of the chain, and that aromatics are favored in relation to olefins (Table 1) [1,2]. Whereas aromatization of propane and higher paraffins can be carried out at temperatures lower than 500°C, transformation of ethane, and especially that of methane, requires much higher temperatures. This is experimentally supported by the transformation of various hydrocarbons, at constant temperature and space velocity. For instance, over H-[All-ZSM-5, butane and isobutane react four times faster than propane and 100 times faster than ethane [3].  相似文献

In ad hoc grid environments, resources are not always available since nodes can spontaneously connect and disconnect at any time. Thus, these environments demand the correct execution of tasks to guarantee good performance. However, there are malicious users that affect the normal operation of these grids. These users modify tasks results and even cheat security mechanisms. Therefore, to assure high performance in these grid computing scenarios, it is essential to use punishment procedures based on trust models. These solutions have been used in wireless ad hoc networks, but not in the context of ad hoc grid computing. Thus, in this paper, we first present an analysis of mathematical trust models in ad hoc grid scenarios, using different ways to treat detection information passed on by other nodes. Then, we provide a comparison and a performance evaluation of these models using a grid simulator platform. Besides that, we choose the most accurate trust model among the evaluated ones to propose RETENTION: a reactive trust-based mechanism to detect and punish malicious nodes in ad hoc grid environments. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in detecting and punishing up to 100% of malicious nodes without generating false-positives. The results can be a valuable tool for network designers in planning trust models in ad hoc grid network deployments.  相似文献

This work has investigated the in vitro calcification of bovine pericardium (BP) treated with chitosan (C), silk fibroin (SF) and electron beam irradiation after its endothelization in vitro. For this purpose, freeze-dried BP membranes treated with mixtures of C and SF (1:3, 1:1 and 3:1) and then irradiated by electron beam irradiation were seeded with human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) in vitro. After 3 weeks of cultivation these membranes were submitted to in vitro calcification tests using simulated body fluid as the calcifying agent. Control membranes were also studied (without endothelial cells exposure). The results have shown that the membrane compatibility with HUVECs in vitro prevent such biomaterial from calcifying, showing a potential application in biomaterial area, such as cardiac valves and repair patches.  相似文献

Improvement and expansion of the transmission grid is still an unresolved issue in the new competitive environment. In current electricity markets, transmission lines have become assets that need financial instruments for investors who wish to ensure steady long-term returns and to withstand short-term market volatility. The timing and the combination of new transmission investments is key to analyze their long-term effects. This paper presents the concept of net present value (NPV) curve to estimate the best investment time for the investor, where the curve is constructed by calculating the NPVs resulting from the investment in successive years. A specific contract model based on financial transmission rights (FTR) is used for the NPV evaluation of transmission assets, and the stochastic properties of all variables related to the investment market structure are considered. The model is applied to the IEEE 24-bus Reliability Test System (RTS) showing the approach capabilities as a decision-aid tool for transmission investors.  相似文献

This paper intends to evaluate the uptake of cadmium ions from aqueous solution by 21 hydroxyapatite samples which have been synthesized in different conditions. It has been determined thatthe variation on the hydroxyapatite sorption capacity is neither related to sample solubility nor to hydroxyapatite Ca/P molar ratio. Cd2+ sorption is controlled by sample BET surface area, which shows a direct dependence on the hydroxyapatite crystallite dimensions. The hydroxyapatite pore distribution presented modes at 1000 and 60,000 A, corresponding to intracrystallite voids and voids between the agglomerate of these crystallites, respectively. Pores belonging to the former mode immobilize the major part of Cd2+. The influence of sample thermal treatment on Cd2+ sorption efficiency has been studied using hydroxyapatite samples calcined at temperatures ranging from 500 to 1140 degrees C. Similarly to nonthermally treat samples, the Cd2+ sorption on calcined hydroxyapatite could be described by Langmuir isotherms. The results showed that the maximum sorption capacity decreased from 0.631 mmol g(-1) for the noncalcined sample to 0.150 mmol g(-1) for the one calcined at 900 degrees C. This drop in the sorption capacity could also be explained by a reduction in its specific surface area, which is induced bythe increase of the crystal size.  相似文献

In this paper, a new robust stability analysis approach is developed for uncertain discrete-time linear time-invariant systems with polytopic or affine parameter-dependent uncertainty models. The proposed approach is based on a combination of a branch-and-bound like strategy with linear matrix inequality (LMI) based analysis formulations. Two sufficient conditions are considered, one for the robust stability of the uncertain system and other one for the contrary situation. If both sufficient conditions fail to characterize the polytope, then it is iteratively subdivided into subpolytopes until some one proves to be unstable or all ones are verified to be robustly stable. The polytope subdivision is implemented by means of a specially developed simplex subdivision algorithm. Exhaustive numerical tests prove the efficiency of the proposed approach when compared with the most recent LMI-based formulations.  相似文献
