In fish, fasting leads to loss of muscle mass. This condition triggers oxidative stress, and therefore, antioxidants can be an alternative to muscle recovery. We investigated the effects of antioxidant ascorbic acid (AA) on the morphology, antioxidant enzyme activity, and gene expression in the skeletal muscle of pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) following fasting, using in vitro and in vivo strategies. Isolated muscle cells of the pacu were subjected to 72 h of nutrient restriction, followed by 24 h of incubation with nutrients or nutrients and AA (200 µM). Fish were fasted for 15 days, followed by 6 h and 15 and 30 days of refeeding with 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg of AA supplementation. AA addition increased cell diameter and the expression of anabolic and cell proliferation genes in vitro. In vivo, 400 mg/kg of AA increased anabolic and proliferative genes expression at 6 h of refeeding, the fiber diameter and the expression of genes related to cell proliferation at 15 days, and the expression of catabolic and oxidative metabolism genes at 30 days. Catalase activity remained low in the higher supplementation group. In conclusion, AA directly affected the isolated muscle cells, and the higher AA supplementation positively influenced muscle growth after fasting.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNp) were synthesized in aqueous phase and transferred to chloroform using a fatty amine as phase transfer agent. Poly(l -lactic acid) (PLLA) membranes were prepared using the “functionalized” chloroform. The amount of AgNp in the chloroform was determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and field emission scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the membranes. A decrease of the thermal stability of the membranes was observed upon the addition of AgNp; meanwhile, the polymer crystallinity degree increased, making the membranes more fragile and brittle. The in vitro degradation assessments of the membranes in artificial saliva suggested that the time necessary to degrade the PLLA reduced by raising the concentration of the nanostructures. Additionally, the antibacterial assays demonstrated that the addition of only 13 ppm of AgNp were enough to inhibit the formation of biofilm over the bionanocomposite membranes. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The outcome of orthodontic treatment involving early extraction of 4 second molars was evaluated in 52 patients (29 girls, 23 boys). Computer-assisted analysis of cephalograms, casts and panoramic X-rays was performed at the start (T1, mean age 11.5 years) and at the end (T2, mean age 14.4 years) of treatment. Following treatment, mesial migration of upper and lower first molars was counteracted; however, treatment only moderately influenced normal development of the position of the incisors and the profile. At the end of treatment, the third molars had erupted in only 3 patients. Nevertheless, on average a significant mesial movement of these teeth was observed. In addition, there was a significant improvement in the axial inclination of the third molars, especially in the upper arch. This improvement was correlated with the original position of the teeth. All patients needed a longer follow-up period and it seems reasonable that some of them might require a second treatment phase to adjust the position of the third molars.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the capacity distribution of spatially correlated, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) channels. In particular, we derive a concise closed-form expression for the characteristic function (c.f.) of MIMO system capacity with arbitrary correlation among the transmitting antennas or among the receiving antennas in frequency-flat Rayleigh-fading environments. Using the exact expression of the c.f., the probability density function (pdf) and the cumulative distribution function (CDF) can be easily obtained, thus enabling the exact evaluation of the outage and mean capacity of spatially correlated MIMO channels. Our results are valid for scenarios with the number of transmitting antennas greater than or equal to that of receiving antennas with arbitrary correlation among them. Moreover, the results are valid for an arbitrary number of transmitting and receiving antennas in uncorrelated MIMO channels. It is shown that the capacity loss is negligible even with a correlation coefficient between two adjacent antennas as large as 0.5 for exponential correlation model. Finally, we derive an exact expression for the mean value of the capacity for arbitrary correlation matrices.  相似文献

A fast and effective multiresidue method for the determination of 42 pesticides in golden berry was developed and validated. A modified QuEChERS method was established for sample preparation followed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatographic-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) determination with electrospray ionization in a triple quadrupole system. Validation results were satisfactory, since the method presented recoveries between 70 and 114 % with relative standard deviations (RSD) <20 % for blank samples spiked from 5 to 25 μg kg?1. The method limit of detection and limit of quantification were 1.5 and 5 μg kg?1 , respectively. Matrix effect ranged from ?32 to 218 % and was compensated using matrix-matched calibration. Method linearity was established from 2.5 to 100 μg kg?1 with r 2 ≥ 0.99. The proposed method combines the advantages of a simple and fast sample preparation step by a modified QuEChERS method with the high selectivity and sensitivity of the UHPLC-MS/MS system using selected reaction monitoring. The method was successfully applied to commercial samples, proving to be an efficient alternative for routine analysis. From the 16 analyzed samples, 13 presented residues of one or more pesticides (carbendazim, chlorpyrifos ethyl, dimethoate, propamocarb, and tebuconazole) in the concentration range of 2.0 to 55.6 μg kg?1.  相似文献

The fate of labeled linoleic, α-linolenic, and higher homologs of α-linolenic acid administered to the yellow clam,Mesodesma mactroides, was investigated. It was found that the clam incorporated the acids dissolved in sea water and converted 18∶2 (n−6) into 20∶2 (n−6) and 18∶3 (n−3) into 18∶4 (n−3) and 20∶3 (n−3). The addition of casein hydrolysate to the sea water increased the desaturation capacity of the clam and allowed the conversion of 18∶2 (n−6) into 18∶3 (n−6) to be demonstrated. An enhanced desaturation of 18∶3 (n−3) into 18∶4 (n−3) was also demonstrated. After 12 hr administration of the acid, no radioactivity was found in arachidonic, 20∶5 (n−3), or 22∶6 (n−3). Feeding the clams a culture ofPhaeodactylum tricornutum previously incubated with 1-14C-α-linolenic acid demonstrated that all the homologs of the α-linolenic series were found in the clam without any important changes. Six hour administration of labeled linolenic acid resulted in the incorporation of the acid into diglycerides and phospholipids. The sterol composition of two taxonomically related freshwater species,Diplodom patagonicus andDiplodom variabilis, respectively, from Lake Nahuel Huapi and the Río de la Plata river were studied by gas liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Cholesterol was the main sterol in both species and it was followed by 24-methylcholesta-5, 22-dien-3β-ol, 24-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol, 24-ethylcholesta-5,22-dien-3β-ol and 24-ethylcholest-5-en-3β-ol. The river species collected within the proximity of marine influence showed less cholesterol and more 24-methylcholesta-5,22-dienol, 24-methylcholest-5-enol and 24-ethylcholesta-5,22-dienol than the lake species.  相似文献
