Texture formation during sheet stamping and die forging of α titanium alloys is studied, and the effect of texture and the mechanism of plastic deformation on the strength of internal-pressure spherical vessels is considered. It is shown that, apart from texture, the anisotropy of the strength properties of the α alloys, which is estimated from the difference in the uniaxial-and biaxial-loading strengths, also depends on the chemical composition of the alloy. In the textureless state, the strength of the spherical vessels is higher than the uniaxial strengths of the VT5-1kt, PT3V, and PT3Vkt alloys by 4, 16, and 38%, respectively. This effect is found to be caused by the difference in the relative values of the critical shear stresses for operating slip and twinning systems. The high ductility of the PT3Vkt alloy is related to the fact that it has a ratio of critical shear stresses in the operating slip and twinning systems such that the material is virtually isotropic with respect to tensile loads. This specific feature minimizes the effect of the incompatibility of deformation in grains with different orientations during tension, which is the main cause of the fracture of titanium alloys. The results obtained are used to propose a quantitative criterion to estimate the technological ductility in order to design new titanium alloys.  相似文献

The effects of the charge composition, casting method, and metal forming method on the structure and shape-memory-effect (SME) and superelasticity characteristics of titanium nickelide-based alloys are studied. The shape recovery temperatures of semiproducts are shown to depend substantially on the volume fraction of the Ti2Ni intermetallic phase, whose formation is stimulated by the oxygen present in a charge or absorbed during casting. An increase in the volume fraction of Ti2Ni in an alloy leads to nickel enrichment of the B2 phase and a decrease in the shape recovery temperatures. Subsequent metal forming at the stage of semiproduct manufacture only weakly affects the volume fraction of Ti2Ni and favors the formation of its equiaxed shape and a more uniform Ti2Ni distribution in the B2 matrix. In alloys where the B2 phase contains more than 56.5 wt % Ni, quenching from temperatures above 600°C and aging in the temperature range 400–500°C result in the dissolution and precipitation, respectively, of the nickel-rich Ti3Ni4 and Ti2Ni3 intermetallics. Therefore, the shape recovery temperatures of semiproducts and finished products can be controlled. Moreover, as the aging temperature changes, the volume fraction and size of nickel-rich intermetallic particles, the slip stresses, and the SME force characteristics change. For example, to increase the compression forces for osteosynthesis fixation devices, one has to use a titanium nickelide-based alloy with a high nickel content in the B2 phase and to perform aging at low temperatures (400–450°C).  相似文献

A neutral, bile salt-independent retinyl ester hydrolase (NREH) has been purified from a rat liver microsomal fraction. The purification procedure involved detergent extraction, DEAE-Sepharose ion exchange, Phenyl-Sepharose hydrophobic interaction, Sephadex G-100 and Sephacryl S-200 gel filtration chromatographies, and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The isolated enzyme has an apparent molecular mass of approximately 66 kDa under denaturing conditions on SDS-PAGE. Analysis of the amino acid sequences of four peptides isolated after proteolytic digestion revealed that the enzyme is highly homologous with other rat liver carboxylesterases. In particular, the sequences of the four peptides of the NREH (60 amino acids total) were identical to those of a rat carboxylesterase expressed in the liver (Alexson, S. E. H., Finlay, T. H., Hellman, U., Svensson, L. T., Diczfalusy, U., and Eggertsen, G. (1994) J. Biol. Chem. 269, 17118-17124). Antibodies against this enzyme also react with the purified NREH. Purified NREH shows a substrate preference for retinyl palmitate over triolein and did not catalyze the hydrolysis of cholesteryl oleate. With retinyl palmitate as substrate, the enzyme had a pH optimum of 7 and showed apparent saturation kinetics, with half-maximal activity achieved at substrate concentrations (Km) of approximately 70 microM.  相似文献

The expression of cytokeratins (CK), involucrin, vimentin, CD34, and alpha-smooth-muscle actin was studied in fetal and adult hair follicles. The first stage of the developing hair follicle is characterized by palisaded, elongated epithelial cells budding from the epidermal basal layer. These cells express CK5/6, CK14, CK17, CK19, and vimentin. During the following weeks of gestation, different structures in the developing hair follicle can be identified and characterized. The matrical cells display only CK19. The keratinocytes of the outer root sheath express CK5/6, CK14, CK17, CK19, and involucrin; those of the inner root sheath, CK4, CK18, and involucrin; those of the isthmus, the same profile as the ORS. In the infundibulum, the basal-layer keratinocytes express CK5/6, CK14, CK17, and CK19, whereas in the suprabasal layers CK1, CK4, CK10, CK14, and CK17 are seen. The adult hair follicle in anagen fails to express CK19 in the matrical cells and isthmus and both CK17 and CK19 in the infundibulum. These profiles of intermediate filaments and other markers appear to be potentially useful in categorizing neoplasms with apparent follicular differentiation.  相似文献

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: The authors evaluated a method for obtaining reproducible, reliable measurements from standard lumbar spine radiographs for determining the degree of spondylolisthesis, vertebral body height, intervertebral disk space height, disk space angle, and degree of vertebral body wedging. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Four to six easily defined points were identified on each vertebral body on anteroposterior and lateral plain radiographs of the lumbosacral spine of patients. From these points, the degree of spondylolisthesis, the vertebral body height, the intervertebral disk space height, the disk space angle, and the degree of vertebral body wedging were easily calculated by using well-known geometric relationships. This method requires the use of a personal computer and a standard spreadsheet program but does not require the use of any other specialized radiographic equipment, computer hardware, or custom software. RESULTS: Calculations of intra- and interobserver variability for the measurement of spondylolisthesis, disk space height, disk space angle, and vertebral body height measurement showed that the technique is extremely reproducible. CONCLUSION: This technique may prove useful in the prospective evaluation of potential candidates for lumbar spinal stenosis surgery.  相似文献

We report on 30 cases where we have used cortical stimulation mapping to define the areas representing sensorimotor, language and speech functions under local anesthesia to facilitate resection of space-occupying lesions near these areas. Under the simplistic concept that Broca's area lies in the frontal operculum (inferior frontal gyrus) and that Wernicke's area is located in the posterior perisylvian area (superior temporal, angular and supramarginal gyri), we found language and speech function to be represented outside these areas in up to 4 stimulation sites of 15 patients. The results of cortical stimulation mapping were therefore essential to decide on the optimal access route to the lesions that were located subcortically and on the optimal resection plane in gliomas. After the limits of these areas and of the lesions had been established with stimulation mapping and with intrasurgical microscopic smear preparations, respectively, lesions were safely removed under continuous monitoring of sensorimotor, language and speech function. Immediately after surgery we encountered language and speech deficits in 9 patients (30%), which resolved completely in 5 and incompletely in 4 instances. Thus, language functions were normal in 26 patients (87%) at the end of the follow-up period. It is concluded that use of this technique allows safe and extensive resection of lesions that would otherwise have been considered hazardous to remove or inexcisable.  相似文献

Patients (pts) may present for lead extraction with symptomatic or asymptomatic subclavian vein or superior vena cava thrombosis. Replacement of permanent pacemaker leads (PPLs) in these pts may be difficult and may require accessing a new site. We examined the utility of replacing PPLs through completely occluded vessels using extraction sheaths as conduits through the total occlusion. Over six years, a total of 210 atrial and/or ventricular PPLs were extracted from 137 pts. Two pts presented with angiographically documented thrombotic occlusion of the subclavian vein. One additional pt. who had presented with a superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome, had a totally occluded innominate vein and SVC occlusion. Balloon venoplasty was used as an adjunct to dilate the SVC. In all pts, after PPLs were removed via a subclavian extraction sheath through the occluded vessel, the retained sheath was used to place a guide wire, then a peel away dilating sheath, to insert new PPLs, in each case on the side of total venous occlusion. Seven PPLs and two lead fragments were extracted, and five new PPLs replaced, ipsilateral to the venous occlusion. These data show that extraction of PPLs through thrombosed veins may be performed successfully and may not require replacing the leads through a new site. This technique spares the pt the need to access the opposite subclavian vein, and it avoids an excessive number of PPLs in the subclavian vein and SVC. The procedure illustrates an efficient means to reintroduce new PPLs with the potential to reduce associated morbidity, since repeat puncture of the subclavian vein is not required. Safety of the procedure as a whole must be considered with regard to the known risks of lead extraction, some complications of which may be substantial using current techniques.  相似文献

The biodistribution and kinetics of an air filled human serum albumin microcapsule formulation (Quantison) intended for use as an intravenous ultrasound contrast agent have been examined. 12 healthy subjects were administered with approximately 50 million microcapsules per kilogram body weight, radiolabelled with 50 MBq 123I. Imaging was performed over a period of 58 h using a large field-of-view gamma camera and the amount of labelled material present in the blood, urine and faeces measured. Imaging demonstrated that the liver was the organ with the highest uptake, with a mean uptake of 41.8% (SD 10.4%) of the administered dose 1 h following administration. The maximum uptake of the agent in the lungs was low, mean 4.0% (SD 3.4%). A small amount of uptake was visible in the bone marrow; however, this was not quantifiable. There was also evidence of minimal myocardial activity within 5 min of administration. No adverse events were observed and there were no changes in any of the individual post-study indices. The present study demonstrates the safety of Quantison. Gamma scintigraphy played a useful role in confirming the biodistribution of the agent with little lung uptake, high liver uptake and evidence of myocardial uptake.  相似文献

Islet amyloid polypeptide forms islet amyloid deposits in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. We have generated transgenic mice which express human islet amyloid polypeptide in their pancreatic beta cells yet do not develop islet amyloid deposits despite producing levels of the amyloidogenic human peptide 2 - 3 fold higher than the native (mouse) peptide. To determine whether marked overproduction of islet amyloid polypeptide is a potential cause of islet amyloid formation, we increased expression of this transgene by producing homozygous transgenic animals and by making heterozygous mice experimentally insulin resistant with nicotinic acid. Pancreatic content of islet amyloid polypeptide-like immunoreactivity in homozygous and nicotinic acid-treated mice was 2-fold (25 +/- 7 fmol/microg; n = 6) and 3.5-fold (47 +/- 20 fmol/microg; n = 3) higher, respectively, than that of untreated heterozygous animals (13+/-2 fmol/microg; n = 11; both p < 0.05). Despite this marked increase in production of islet amyloid polypeptide, neither group of mice developed gross islet amyloid deposits even after 16 months of age. We conclude that overproduction of islet amyloid polypeptide, even as produced by extreme insulin resistance, is not in itself sufficient for islet amyloid formation.  相似文献
