This paper reports on the development of an MPI/OpenCL implementation of LU, an application-level benchmark from the NAS Parallel Benchmark Suite. An account of the design decisions addressed during the development of this code is presented, demonstrating the importance of memory arrangement and work-item/work-group distribution strategies when applications are deployed on different device types. The resulting platform-agnostic, single source application is benchmarked on a number of different architectures, and is shown to be 1.3–1.5× slower than native FORTRAN 77 or CUDA implementations on a single node and 1.3–3.1× slower on multiple nodes. We also explore the potential performance gains of OpenCL’s device fissioning capability, demonstrating up to a 3× speed-up over our original OpenCL implementation. 相似文献

This paper describes a new approach towards the development of a comprehensive oxide scale failure diagram (OSFD) that delineates the mechanical limits of scales for the different types of failure mechanisms. While former diagrams of a similar type were based on relating the critical strain to scale failure to oxide scale thickness, the new approach replaces scale thickness with a comprehensive operational parameter ωo that summarizes in a multi-level treatment all contributing factors, e.g. physical defect size, interface roughness, scale thickness, Young’s modulus, fracture toughness, etc., that influence failure strain. While this approach should ideally be based on a comprehensive treatment of ωo using fully implemented coding, further considerations based on the identification of “low-impact” and “high-impact” parameters lead to a simplified OSFD where only the physical defect size is needed. This simplified approach can be used to assess the strain tolerance of oxide scales in industrial operation once the particular diagram has been established from laboratory data. 相似文献

This paper characterizes factors affecting the accuracy of the correlation coefficient (CC) template matching algorithm, as applied to motion tracking from two-dimensional real-time coronary artery magnetic resonance images. The performance of this algorithm is analyzed in the presence of both random and systematic error. In the presence of random error, it is shown that a necessary and sufficient condition for accurate motion tracking is a large CC difference-to-noise ratio (CCDNR). The CCDNR itself is in turn affected by five factors: image and template size, image and template structure, and the magnitude of the noise. Techniques are introduced for manipulating some of these factors in order to increase the CCDNR for greater motion tracking accuracy. In the presence of superimposed systematic error it is shown that, while large CCDNR is necessary, it alone is not sufficient to ensure accurate motion tracking. Techniques are developed for improving motion tracking accuracy that minimize the effects of systematic error, while maintaining an adequate CCDNR level. The ability of these techniques to improve motion tracking accuracy is demonstrated both in phantoms and in coronary artery images. 相似文献

Preventing wind turbine overspeed in highly turbulent wind events using disturbance accommodating control and light detection and ranging 下载免费PDF全文
Light detection and ranging (LIDAR) systems can be used to provide wind inflow information to a wind turbine controller before the wind reaches the turbine. Both fatigue and extreme load reduction are possible as a result; in this research, we propose a LIDAR‐based controller designed to prevent emergency shutdowns caused by rotor overspeed. This switching controller consists of a disturbance accommodating control (DAC)‐based baseline controller and a different DAC linearized about a reduced generator speed for extreme events, also referred to as an extreme event controller. Switching between the controllers was performed using linear interpolation over various transition times, depending on how early the extreme event could be detected. If a gust of wind is detected using LIDAR measurements evaluated by a one‐sided cumulative summation algorithm, a relatively long transition time can be used. Switching can also be based on a large output estimation error, εy, in which case the transition time is shorter. Once the extreme event passed, control is switched from the extreme event controller back to the baseline DAC. This switching controller resulted in fewer overspeeds when compared with the modified baseline controller, which is a gain scheduled DAC. This paper looks at the concepts of entities, identities, identifiers and credentials, their definitions, and how they combine
to authenticate an identity to an account, or function, within a service. Credentials can be divided into several different
types on the basis of their use, origin and characteristics. In particular, types such as composite, dynamic and derived credentials
will be considered, and their applicability within an identity management system. Each credential must be managed through
its entire life cycle from initial registration, general use and suspension, to deletion. The notion of public (i.e. freely
distributable) and private (i.e. known only to you) aspects of a credential is explored. The bindings, by trusted third parties,
of identifiers and public credentials into permits and instruments of proof is explained along with the convenience, but greater
exposure, of local information. Several scenarios are analysed in terms of how different types of credentials are employed

Protein‐based analogues of conventional thermoplastic elastomers can be designed with enhanced properties as a consequence of the precise control of primary structure. Protein 1 undergoes a reversible sol–gel transition, which results in the formation of a well‐defined elastomeric network above a lower critical solution temperature. The morphology of the network is consistent with selective microscopic phase separation of the endblock domains.
