The thermodynamics of MnO-containing slags was reviewed, and the properties of such slags were correlated by application of the cell model. This model, together with a previously developed unified interaction parameter model for the metal phase, was used to simulate the gas-slag-metal conditions in the hearth of a ferromanganese submerged arc furnace. The calculated slag and metal compositions and distribution of Mn, Si, and K between slag, metal, and fume were compared with plant data and satisfactory agreement was obtained. A steady recirculation of potassium inside the furnace was also predicted. For a potassium percentage in the raw materials of 0.63 pct, the amount of the recirculating potassium was about 160 kg per metric ton of ferromanganese. Due to the recirculation, the average potassium content in the solid mix coming down to the hearth could be as high as 7 pct.  相似文献

Donor CD4+ and CD8+ T cells mediate graft-vs.-leukemia (GVL) responses in the allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (alloBMT) setting. To evaluate the role of functional T cell subsets in the mediation of GVL, alloreactive donor CD4+ (Th1/Th2) and CD8+ (Tc1/Tc2) T cells of defined cytokine phenotype were generated by in vitro culture. A leukemia/transplantation model (B6 into B6C3F1; 1050 cGy host irradiation) was established using the bcr/abl-transfected myeloid leukemia line, 32Dp210 (P210; H-2k). Leukemia control mice (1X10(4) P210 cells per recipient) died at day 12.0 post-BMT. Recipients of the CD4+, Th1-type or CD8+, Tc1-type populations were conferred a survival advantage (death at 20.7 and 23.5 days post-BMT, respectively). In contrast, the CD4+, Th2-type population did not mediate GVL (death at 12.3 days). Furthermore, cell mixing experiments demonstrated that the Th2 subset abrogated both Th1- and Tc1-mediated GVL. The CD8+, Tc2 population, which secreted type II cytokines and lysed the P210 leukemia target in vitro, mediated GVL in some experiments; interestingly, the magnitude of Tc2-mediated GVL was inversely related to the level of interleukin-10 (IL-10) secreted in vitro by the Tc2 population. These studies therefore indicate that alloreactive T cells of type I phenotype maximally generate GVL, and that type I/type II interactions are an important consideration for allogeneic transplantation in the setting of leukemic hosts.  相似文献

Triatoma sordida is the second species of Triatominae considered of epidemiological significance in Bolivia. Associated with Triatoma infestans in various regions, it is as yet the only triatomine species established in human dwellings in localities of Velasco province, Department of Santa Cruz. This domestication is considered as primary. Flagellate parasites were detected in 16.2% of domiciliary T. sordida and the kDNA-PCR confirmed the presence of Trypanosoma cruzi. Frequencies of T. cruzi clonets 20 and 39, common clonets in Bolivian domestic cycle (T. infestans), were established by their direct detection in feces using PCR and hybridization. These clonets present low frequencies in T. sordida and synanthropic mammals. Forty-six stocks were isolated and analysed by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MLEE). The MLEE showed a higher clonal diversity than in T. infestans domestic cycle and the genotypes were clustered in the two principal lineages of T. cruzi. Within each lineage, a broad variability was observed. Mixture of genotypes was mostly observed in mammals. The large diversity of T. cruzi in this cycle should be related to its sylvatic origin. Moreover, the current limited sample of stocks suggests a lineage association with specific hosts.  相似文献

(R,R)-2,2'-[1,2-ethanediylbis[imino(1-methyl-2,1-ethanediyl)]]- bis[5-nitro-1H-benz[de]isoquinoline-1,3-(2H)-dione] dimethanesulfonate (DMP 840), is a bis-naphthalimide anticancer tumoricidal agent currently in phase I clinical trials. DMP 840 exhibits curative activity in human tumor xenografts, where it shows selectivity for human solid tumors over murine leukemias. In contrast to the selectivity found for DMP 840 in vivo, DMP 840 exhibits potent antiproliferative activity in vitro against a variety of human and murine leukemia and solid tumor cell lines in culture, with inhibitory doses that reduce the number of treated cells to one half (IC50) values ranging from 2.3 to 53 nM. DMP 840 was growth inhibitory to three doxorubicin-resistant cell lines with IC50 values also in the nanomolar range. Clonogenic survival experiments showed that DMP 840 was equally cytotoxic to both exponentially growing and quiescent human clone A colon carcinoma cells. A 1-h incubation of DMP 840 (1.22-12 microM) caused 5-log cell kill in KB-3-1 human epidermoid carcinoma, clone A human colon carcinoma, and L1210 murine leukemia cell lines. The rapid cell killing by DMP 840 in clonogenic survival experiments and initial mechanism of action studies was consistent with a DNA-interactive mechanism for DMP 840 cytotoxicity. Mechanism of action studies in L1210 leukemia cells demonstrated that DMP 840 inhibited the incorporation of thymidine and uridine into DNA and RNA with IC50 values of 0.55 and 0.08 microM, respectively. DMP 840 produced DNA single-strand breaks in a dose-dependent manner. Double-strand breaks were not observed with DMP 840 treatment, even at higher concentrations of compound. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) and P388 cells resistant to camptothecin and containing a mutant form of topoisomerase I were also used to evaluate whether DMP 840 was cross-resistant with agents active against topoisomerase I. While the CHOR line was 163-fold resistant to camptothecin, the CHOR line was only 1.7-fold resistant to DMP 840. In summary, DMP 840 is a DNA-interactive agent that demonstrates excellent antiproliferative activity in vitro against cultured tumor cells from both human and murine sources. Its mechanism of tumoricidal activity may be novel.  相似文献

Co-located collaboration can be extremely valuable during complex visual analytics tasks. We present an exploratory study of a system designed to support collaborative visual analysis tasks on a digital tabletop display. Fifteen participant pairs employed Cambiera, a visual analytics system, to solve a problem involving 240 digital documents. Our analysis, supported by observations, system logs, questionnaires, and interview data, explores how pairs approached the problem around the table. We contribute a unique, rich understanding of how users worked together around the table and identify eight types of collaboration styles that can be used to identify how closely people work together while problem solving. We show how the closeness of teams’ collaboration and communication influenced how they performed on the task overall. We further discuss the role of the tabletop for visual analytics tasks and derive design implications for future co-located collaborative tabletop problem solving systems.  相似文献

Fatigue crack growth in the resin layer between 0 and 90 plies of an AS/3501-5A graphite fibre/epoxy composite is discontinuous. Regularly spaced extensions of the crack front occur after periods of arrest. Crack compliance and tip strain fields have been measured to determine how the local minimum (K min l) and maximum (K max l) crack tip stress intensities affect growth. Contact of the fracture surfaces and swelling of the 90° ply modify these local stress intensities by an amount sensitive to load ratio (R), and the resulting propagation rate depends strongly onR. A model capable of describing thisR effect relates the distance of each individual crack advance to Kmax l and the duration of each arrest toK mnax l -K min l, i.e., to K eff. We discuss the genesis of this model, and its explanation of the large Paris law coefficient which results if growth rates are instead expressed against the applied cyclic stress intensity.  相似文献

The influence of Mn content on the ductile-brittle transition in 16 to 36 wt pct Mn steels was investigated and interpreted in light of the evolving microstructure. It was found that when hcp ε martensite is present in the as-quenched condition or forms during deformation, it lowers the toughness. In 25Mn steel, the stress concentrations at e plate intersections result in the formation of planar void sheets along the {111}γ planes. The deformation-induced α’ martensite in 16 to 20 pct Mn alloys enhances the toughness, but leads to a ductile-to-brittle transition at low temperatures that is due to the intrusion of an intergranular fracture mode. Binary alloys with greater than 31 pct Mn also fracture in an intergranular mode at 77 K although the impact energy remains quite high. Auger spectroscopy of the fracture surfaces shows no evidence of significant impurity segregation, which suggests the importance of slip heterogeneity in controlling intergranular fracture in these alloys.  相似文献
